The Miami Metro Zoo is located in the southwestern part of the Miami metropolitan area. It was founded in 1948. The zoo is home to over 2,000 animals that live in their natural habitat. Miami Metro is divided into 4 zones: African, Asian, Australian and Amazonian. This is one of the largest zoos in the United States and the only tropical one in the country.
