The village of Mui Ne near Phan Thiet got its name from the words "cape" and "shelter", local fishermen found shelter here during bad weather. Its other name - "Vietnamese Hawaii" - this area received due to the beauty of landscapes formed by white sand, clear water, bright tropical vegetation.

In recent years, Mui Ne has turned from a fishing village into one of the main gathering places for Russian kite and windsurfers. In terms of its popularity, it is almost as good as the Egyptian Dahab.
