Three magical days on Dombai
Until spring finally came and snow still lies everywhere, I decided not to sour at home, but to rush to Dombay. Of course, the Dombai resort is not for those who are used to relaxing at home watching TV - here the rest is dynamic, you will not get bored. There was really no time to relax, and in three days in the mountains I wanted to do a lot.
We got there by bus from Volgograd. I was told at the travel agency that buses go to Dombay every Thursday from Lenin Square, so you still have a couple of days off to get to the Caucasus Mountains and feel like a “cool” skier. On the way to the resort, crossing the pass, I saw Elbrus. What can I say in a nutshell: Elbrus is very beautiful! The blue and white tops are eye-catching. When I saw this handsome mountain, I wanted to have wings and I could soar and circle over the top. Maybe someday you will be able to look at the Caucasus Mountains from the window of an airplane.
Dombay met with dazzling snow, stunning, fabulous mountain views and colorful ski hats around. In general, in such places - a completely different atmosphere, no way below. Remember the song of Vysotsky: "Here you do not have a plain, here the climate is different... ". The climate here is really different. I mean, not only nature is different, but also people. Different people come here: rich and poor, young and old, but for the most part very friendly, open, cheerful. Not like down on the plains, where people often have sad or lean faces. Here, on Dombay, there is an atmosphere of warmth and eternal holiday, friendliness, special mountain comfort. And this turned out to be the most important discovery for me during these three days of wonderful rest.

The Dombai resort has its own backbone - people come many times. Again and again they rush here, to the mountains from their dusty cities, they have known each other for a long time - such a human brotherhood. Someone from Stavropol, someone from Moscow, someone even comes from the Urals!
I asked one guy from Chelyabinsk, his name is Pavel - he guarded Dombai and looks like a bearded Viking: “Why Dombai, do you have your own Ural Mountains? ” Pavel, after thinking a little, answered: “Yes, the Urals are nearby, but the scale is not the same, the Caucasus is more beautiful for me... The slopes are steeper, the snow is whiter, the sky is blue (Pavel smiles into his curly, red beard), there are many difficult slopes, and the main thing is that it already has its own company, I have been coming here for 10 years, several times a year. Before that, he traveled to almost all ski resorts in Europe from the Austrian Alps to the Spanish Sierra Nevada, but left his heart in these mountains. Dombay is a special place, and if He loves and accepts you, then you won’t want a better vacation! ”
The Dombay Hotel, where I lived, was still Soviet-built. This is not a fashionable bungalow, but it fully meets, in my opinion, in the "price + quality" category. You can live: linen and towels are fresh, the beds are clean, there is no dust, the rooms are warm. Near the market. It is not cheap, but you can buy a lot of things there: herbal tea, Dombai souvenirs, clothes. There is also a market at an altitude of 2100 meters, and it is just cheap. What is also very convenient, you don’t have to go to the ski lifts for a long time, they are literally eighty meters away, no more!
Lifts are different, there are closed and open. They cost 400 rubles per level. I climbed both closed and open. The view in them is excellent - snow-covered pines floated below, and around the blue sky - I was lucky, the first day turned out to be sunny. The view is fabulous, even for the sake of one view it was worth coming.

Since I am still a very beginner skier, I rode in the so-called "paddling pool". The descent is 80 meters, and you climb back along the rope. It turned out not at all difficult, although, I will not hide, I used to be afraid to get up on skis at all. The cost of ski rental is 500 rubles. I don’t know if it’s cheap or expensive, but buying all the ski equipment, in any case, will come out more expensive.

We left on Sunday evening. It was sad, three days flew by like a moment and again we have to return to the world of people, machines, endless worries. What did I understand during these days there in the mountains? I realized that we sit at home for a long time and complain about boredom or endless worries. It turned out that you can arrange a holiday for yourself and it is not difficult to do. You just need to buy a ticket, travel the night by bus, and you find yourself in a different world, where pure snow, wonderful rest, interesting people, the feeling of flying when you rush down and raise clouds of snow, delicious tea and conversations in the evenings. It's all right next to us. And why sit at home? I promised all the new acquaintances that I would come again. Definitely as soon as the first snow falls.
