We went with the whole family for the autumn holidays on the tour of Staraya Russa - Veliky Novgorod - Valdai. Needless to say, the trip was amazing. Guide Valentin Mendeleevich and guide Nina Vasilievna are beyond praise, well done. But the hotel is somewhat disappointing.
Intourist - 3 stars - is located near the Kremlin in a fairly quiet place - this is the only plus of the hotel. Renovated, double-glazed windows installed, it was warm. But the very procedure of registration at the reception - a feeling that returned to the time of the Soviet Union 20 years ago. True, the keys to the room were issued quickly. And here it is - a room of 12 meters, no more, including a bathroom. We booked a triple room, not a double room with a shared room. As a result, we almost slept on each other's heads - my husband and I were on the beds, the son was on an euro folding bed, but there was no free space. The bathroom is tiny - a toilet bowl, towel holders, a huge sink and a small nook behind a curtain like a shower. There is nowhere to turn around. Very uncomfortable. Moreover, the castle constantly jammed - between the platbands and the canvas itself there was a huge gap through which it blew from the corridor. And this is called repair in Russian. It would be interesting to know how foreigners, who are more picky, endure such conditions?
Initially, the tour program included breakfast - a buffet. But it was not there, the guide himself, no less surprised, told us that there would be no buffet, tables with waiter service would be laid. And for two days in a row we ate bad rice with sausages, pancakes with candied jam and a tiny cup of tea. Particularly picky "enjoyed" coffee in the bar - 110 rubles per cup. Not bad? Just a rip off.

Since we really liked the town, and we plan to visit it also in the summer, we will be more picky in choosing a hotel. It does not pull on 3 stars, although in Russia the star rating of a hotel is an extensive concept. This is not Europe.
