Last year I went with a friend to Syria, lived in Damascus and Latakia. Afamia Rotana is remembered for its location: a large area on the seashore with a small yacht marina. The sea is very clean, almost completely surrounded by protective structures. We were at the end of April, the water temperature was already 18 degrees (although given the very warm weather, we expected more from the Mediterranean).
The hotel is brand new and you can tell right away. The rooms are in good repair, there are classic tiles on the floor, no carpet, all rooms face the sea, and the entrance to the rooms is from the courtyard, all entwined with various plants.
The staff is friendly and takes care of the guests. Everyone speaks English, but at different levels. . . Yes, good food - buffet breakfast was almost enough for the whole day (with a few supplies in pockets, of course) - tasty, varied, taking into account different preferences, the cuisine is not only local, but also European.

Of the frank minuses, you can only notice what the hotel itself cannot influence: the specifics of the country (when there are only men on the beach, frankly examining you and immediately actively sharing their impressions) and the level of the country (until you get to the resort, you pass through various slums and nooks and crannies ).
