Finally, I gathered my thoughts to describe my impressions of my November vacation in Thailand. I went to Tai for the first time, so there are a lot of impressions. Also here I will try to give some advice to those who also decide to visit this wonderful land.

How to get there?

So, any trip begins with the choice of a travel company, and if you do not trust them, then first of all with the choice of an air carrier. As for travel companies, I will not give any advice, since this is an individual, almost intimate matter. But in any case, you will need to decide which airline to trust. I can’t speak for everyone here, so I’ll only talk about Ukraine. Gone are the days when our fellow citizens were forced to fly to Tai only from Moscow, now you can safely lay your route from Kyiv. If you like to save money, then you can choose Turkmen Airlines. With a change in Ashgabat, it will be about 100 dollars cheaper than other regular air carriers. The only thing is that so far round-trip flights must be chosen in multiples of 14 days. Those. your stay in Thailand should be built on the basis of 14.28 and so on days. This airline has such programs so far. If you really like to save money, then you can take advantage of Aerosvit promotional offers. In autumn and winter, a Kyiv-Bangkok-Kyiv ticket could be taken for as little as $400. The flight is direct, but you need to be prepared for days of hell. Aerosvit service is probably known to everyone. Plus constant flight delays. On the day I flew, the plane of this company was already delayed by 3 hours during my landing, and having flown with a transfer the entire route, in Bangkok I found out that this flight was still delayed, although it was supposed to arrive 3-4 hours earlier our board. My friend, who flew to Tai a couple of weeks ago, spent almost a day at the Boryspil airport waiting for her flight. As a result, I lost one paid day in a Bangkok hotel. So it's up to you to judge and choose. I myself chose, in my opinion, the best option with a convenient connection and a convenient time of arrival. Flight Kyiv-Abu Dhabi-Bangkok. It is held together with our UIA and the Arab Etihad. Everything was on schedule to the minute. UIA has a brand new Boeing on this route, docking in Abu Dhabi flies by in an instant, you don’t even have time to get around all the duty-free. And already in Etihad's plane, even in economy class, you feel like a VIP special. The service and all the options on board our inexperienced person will definitely not leave you indifferent. The price of such a flight was about 850 dollars. Of course, you can also fly through Europe in pursuit of the best service, but this will already be much more expensive. So, think for yourself, decide for yourself...

Bangkok airport.

This airport is amazing. It impresses with its scope and infrastructure. The only downside is passport control upon arrival. The Thai bureaucracy works very, very slowly, but it works! Be prepared to waste at least an hour there. Although Thai visas for less than 14 days are free, they still need to be issued. So don't forget your photos. If you forgot (as I did), then they can be done in the same place at the airport, not far from passport control. The exchange office is nearby and the exchange rate was normal. I want to warn you right away that duty free at Bangkok airport is very expensive, perhaps even more expensive than Boryspil. Even with discount coupons that tour operators give out on the way back and that you can get from other airport services, shopping is still expensive. So if you are flying in transit, for example, through the same Abu Dhabi, it is better to make purchases in them - transit duty-free.

Bangkok impresses you right away. The first thing our human needs to adapt to is their climate: very hot and very humid, as well as the time difference. Bangkok is considered the cheapest metropolis in the world, so the hotels there are relatively inexpensive, unless of course we are talking about executive class hotels. It is clear that if you buy a ticket, the company itself will organize everything. But it is still more profitable to book on special Internet sites. There will be no risk as in Egypt or Turkey. As far as I managed to understand, they do not have small numbers in our understanding. All rooms in any hotel up to three stars will have good living space. I myself lived in the Adriatic Palace. I have already left my review about this hotel on this site, I will not repeat it, those who are interested can read it. The only thing I repeat is that I do not recommend staying in such hotels promoted by travel companies as Bangkok Palace and Baiyok. "Bangkok Palace" is just a horror, and "Baiyok" is a walk-through courtyard for tourists. In general, do people come to Bangkok to sit in hotels? Walk around the city and get impressions!!!

Of course, this city can be shocking at first with its scale and variety of smells. Walking a hundred meters along one street, you can feel everything: from a terribly poisonous stench that begins to irritate your throat to pleasant incense. The total number of lotteries that Thais play is amusing, and vendors sell them on every corner. As I was able to find out, gambling is prohibited in Thailand, so the whole nation is going crazy with official lotteries. The variety of street food is impressive. From the most exotic insects to chilled fruits. Personally, I really liked the fresh coconut juice in young coconuts. They are cooled in sellers' carts, they make a cut in front of you to make a cap, insert a straw and the juice is ready to drink. Thirst quenches better than any water or tea and is cheaper. I took in the center of Bangkok for 20 baht. One more feature. The scale of Bangkok is very deceiving. Sitting in your hotel room, you see the nearest skyscrapers or shopping centers and it seems to you that they are very close, but this is an optical illusion. Walking to them is long and hard. Do not forget that the room has air conditioning, and it is sweltering heat outside! Better spare your feet and use transport.

Bangkok transport. This is a separate topic for discussion. This city has a very busy traffic, there are a lot of traffic jams during the day. Plus, the direction of movement is a bit unusual, which differs from our right-hand drive. It is striking that you will not hear the constant signals of horns and the cries of drivers in the style: “Goat, where are you going! ”. This is already the influence of the Thai mentality. Thais for the most part are not irritable and very leisurely. During the day it is best to use the subway. There is, like ours, an underground one, but the ground-based “Sky Train” is especially impressive. Payment, as in many European capitals - according to the number of stops. Therefore, when buying a ticket, it is advisable to immediately calculate the number of necessary stops. Tickets are purchased from the machine right at the station. By the way, the ticket must be kept, because on it you will leave the station. The turnstile will pull him back. The Sky Train cars also have air conditioning! There are no trams or trolleybuses in Bangkok. There are buses. They differ in their classes: with or without air conditioning. Without air conditioning, buses can be without windows. I myself did not risk riding in these buses, preferring taxis. Taxis are inexpensive, but there is one feature. An inexpensive taxi is an official one with a tabular “Taximeter” at the top. Payment in them on the counter. But cunning Thais sometimes turn off the counters. So that you are not stabbed immediately upon landing, if you see that the meter is not turned on, tell the driver the cherished word “Taximeter” and point to the meter. It will be enabled immediately. If you return to your hotel, it is advisable to take a hotel business card with you, where its name is duplicated in Thai. I personally pierced like this: at three in the morning I explained to the driver where I needed to go, but he did not understand. Having shown ingenuity, assertiveness and knowledge of the local surroundings, which I had already managed to explore in a day and a half, I nevertheless successfully reached. But you can ride in search of your hotel all night. If you go to a jewelry factory, then transportation from it to the main districts and sights of the capital is free. It is better to use a taxi when there are no traffic jams, i. e. late in the evening and at night. Exotic tuk-tuks are, oddly enough, more expensive than taxis. But if you love the exotic, then this is for you!

What to see in Bangkok? Do not believe those reviews that write that there is nothing to do in Bangkok for more than two days. These are limited people! Bangkok is very diverse, and a week is not enough to see everything. I missed 2 full days. Therefore, immediately decide on priorities: shopping, historical sights, cultural program or something else. I tried to cover the immensity, and this is what came out of it.

Royal Palace. Since I was traveling on a tour, this excursion was included in the tour by default. It is included, perhaps, to all tourists. But it's worth it! The palace is amazing! Very exotic architecture, and very rich. Everything looks at the same time toy and bewitching. A lot of people. As the guide told us, up to 20 thousand people visit this palace a day, and I am ready to believe it. Unfortunately, the tour was from a travel agency, so there was a Thai Russian-speaking guide. Separately, I will make a reservation so that you are ready for this. In Thailand, foreigners cannot work as guides, this is prohibited by law. Therefore, our guides accompany tourists under the guise of tourists themselves, and Thais drive around the sights themselves. What they say is not entirely clear. I would even say that it is completely incomprehensible. Therefore, it is better to inspect everything on your own. But this is my opinion. The famous temple of the Emerald Buddha is located on the territory of the palace. It is a must to visit it. First you need to undress. Better not just come in and out, but sit next to the Thais and contemplate. And there really is something to contemplate! In addition to the Temple of the Emerald Buddha, I was impressed by the exact model of Angkor Wat, the famous Khmer temple, which is now in Cambodia. Very beautiful lawn in front of the royal palace. When visiting the palace, one must remember that entering the territory in shorts above the knees, short skirts and shoes without backs is prohibited. So if you don't want to walk around in clown pants that are given out for rent, think about your wardrobe in advance.

Jewelry factory - they also take everyone there. Pleased with free drinks and free delivery. Women can not be pulled away from the windows. Personally, I liked the showcases with diamond products, they are topped with aquariums in which sharks swim. By the way, everything can be measured, and if you decide to buy something, then, of course, you can bargain. But as I was told by those who know love for tsatskami, it’s better to go not to Thailand, but to India.

Oceanarium Siam Ocean World. I highly recommend to everyone. Really interesting and exciting. It is considered to be the best Oceanarium in Asia. This is perhaps one of the few places where it is better to take tickets from tour operators. The oceanarium periodically sells promotional tickets and travel agencies redeem them. It's more profitable to go through them. It turns out cheaper by 100-200 baht per person. The price includes a visit to the 4D cinema. The attraction is amazing! The presented water world is simply huge. Large aquariums and arched vaults. You can even take a trip on a boat with a transparent bottom and visit the feeding of fish. I was personally impressed by the jellyfish room. I never thought that you can look at them endlessly. Soft chairs, benches, twilight with changing lighting and a lounge of speakers act relaxing. If I could, I would spend the whole day there. You can get to the Oceanarium either by transportation from the Jewelery Factory or by sky train to the Siam Station. He himself is located on the territory of perhaps the most expensive and largest shopping center Siam Paragon. Therefore, we can already talk about

Shopping. Do not believe in fairy tales about the fact that in Thailand you can buy very high quality things at ridiculous prices. This is not true. As we were told, this period ended after 2006, when the previous government was overthrown. Now it’s just like here: consumer goods of low quality can really be bought for a penny, but if you wear really branded and good ones, it will cost a lot, although of course cheaper than in our metropolitan boutiques. Siam Paragon is mainly designed for farangs (ie us - foreigners). Huge areas, huge showcases, prices are appropriate. It has a huge food court. Fast foods are plentiful. Find exactly what you like. A pleasant trifle - in Tae in fast food restaurants you can pour Kaka-Cola and the sauce yourself as much as you want. They don't skimp on it. You can eat your fill in the center of Bangkok for 120-300 baht, depending on your appetite and institution. Immediately opposite Siam Paragon is another large shopping center MBK. 8 floors full of shops and entertainment. It is best to go there if you decide to buy digital or computer equipment. The choice is very large, the prices are lower than ours, but not at times. On the ground floor, you can make any hologram in a crystal cube, ball or plate in 15 minutes. Original. We have not seen this anywhere. It is worth visiting the night market. It's called Suan Lum Night Bazaar. It opens at 8 pm. Specializes mainly in clothes, souvenirs. There are also a lot of Thai massage parlors, tattoo and fish spas (fish spa). All sorts of souvenirs from Thai elephants in various guises to funny backlit T-shirts and all sorts of Chinese junk. If you are a fan of souvenirs, then remember that, despite the fact that Bangkok is the capital, souvenirs are cheaper here than in Pattaya, and there is more choice. So it is better to boil souvenir products in the capital. There are also many smaller souvenir markets in central Bangkok. You can find things cheaper than at Night Bazaar, but never forget to bargain, even in large shopping centers!

Night life. Visiting Bangkok and not seeing its nightlife is simply unforgivable. On the night streets of the Thai capital, you can find anything you want. Many prefer Sukumvit Street, but I was on Silom. Also a fairly well-known area. That Sukumvit, that Silom are divided into Soi, this is an analogue of our alleys. Each lane has its own "specialization". Each of them has its own bars, restaurants, go-go establishments and a huge number of prostitutes and prostitutes. Fighting them off can sometimes be quite difficult, so be patient and don't fall for all their stories. Entrance to most establishments is free and without a dress code, entrance to famous and respectable establishments by their standards can be paid from 100 to 500 baht, but the price usually includes a drink that you choose at the bar counter yourself. And then indulge…

Observation deck at Bayok Sky Hotel The best panorama of Bangkok. It is here that you can see how endless this metropolis is. Even on the top floor of Thailand's tallest hotel, you can't see the end of the capital. Houses go far beyond the horizon. I don't think it's worth the trip. The entrance ticket can be bought at the entrance to the hotel. The price includes one drink. By the way, the site is spinning, so you can not waste your energy, but enjoy the view of Bangkok slowly. I recommend coming there at the end of the day to see how this city gradually turns from daytime life to night life, gradually turning on its illumination. There is also a small museum. There you can see the whole evolution of local tuk-tuks and there are several nice decorated areas where you can take pictures.

This is all that I managed to see for myself in Bangkok. Where I wanted to go, but didn’t get and didn’t, but I’m going to definitely visit if I come again:

1) Ride a boat on the Chao Phraya River

2) Visit the show "Siam Niramit" - heard a lot of good reviews.

After Bangkok, Pattaya was waiting for me. You can get from Bangkok to Pattaya very quickly on the highway. The whole time takes about 1.5-2 hours. Tour operators deliver tourists by minibuses, but when traveling as a savage, you can get there both by regular bus and by taxi. For a taxi, the average price is 1500 baht per car, but if you wish, you can bargain for 1000.

PATTAYA. When you enter this town, at first you are seized by a certain melancholy. Everything breathes provincial wilderness, and if it were not for palm trees, it seems that you are in some provincial resort town like Temryuk. But after checking into a hotel and a detailed acquaintance with the city, this feeling passes.

How to live economically in Pattaya? Of course, everyone chooses housing according to their wallet. If you have enough money, then you can live in five stars. Although Pattaya, in my opinion, like Bangkok, is not the city where you come to live in a hotel. The best in my opinion is a three-star hotel somewhere in the center of Pattaya on Beach Road or Second Road - everything is nearby. I myself lived in the Baron Beach Hotel - a very good hotel right in the city center next to the largest shopping center Central Festival. I have already described this hotel in detail in my review on this site, so I will not repeat myself. There is also another three-star hotel, quite good and even cheaper - Caesar Palace Hotel. But I didn’t manage to live there, since all the places in it were booked in advance. My friends lived there, and they had a very positive opinion about this hotel. It is located near mine on Second Road. In general, if you are going for more than 2 weeks, then you definitely need to rent an apartment. It's a lot cheaper than staying in a hotel and there's no international hotel fuss. Renting a house is not a problem. There are both separate houses and separate rooms in them. You can book both online and by contacting local realtors. By the way, almost all more or less large local travel companies have their own separate department that deals with private housing. So go ahead.

Life in Pattaya. In this city, she is in full swing. This city never sleeps. What during the day, what at night is a solid anthill and an attraction for tourists. The top spot is, of course, Walking Street. It comes to life in the evening and subsides only in the morning. The concentration of a wide variety of entertainment venues, restaurants and girls of the appropriate behavior is simply amazing. By the way, to say that there is prostitution in Pattaya is to say nothing. She is everywhere. Already on Beach Road in the evening you will be besieged by a huge number of a wide variety of girls and women who will try to start a conversation with you with unpretentious phrases like: “You are very sexy man! Do you want me? And dubious-looking guys will offer you right there to try their marijuana or something else stronger. In general, I got the impression that it is easier to buy drugs in Thailand than ordinary cigarettes. No one sells cigarettes openly - the country is struggling with smoking. In stores, the cigarette tray is usually closed and opens only if the customer asks for it. Plus, a very small selection - a small branded assortment, usually represented by Chinese or Philippine products. So I recommend that smokers stock up on tobacco at home or in duty-free. But in any case, do not try to buy drugs! For drugs in the country the death penalty. As the locals say, what they offer in the evening on the embankment is either empty shells or police informants. In any case, it will not bring you joy. For smoking in public places, a fine of 2500 baht. Large shopping centers and airports have separate smoking areas - rather funny transparent booths in which smokers poison each other with puffs of smoke. Pretty funny and visual! But back to night Pattaya. Walking Street has a huge variety of seafood restaurants. And they are more like small aquariums. The number of live marine reptiles that you can order for yourself is simply impressive. It is quite a normal picture when the cook takes a large live lobster by the mustache and drags him to butcher. Music plays around... In general, the nightlife is in full swing. The second most greedy street in the center of Pattaya is perhaps Soi6. Girls there are more frank and intrusive. By the way, if you saw a beautiful long-legged Thai woman, don't introduce yourself - this is a transvestite. Long-legged taek do not exist in nature! As for transvestites and other katoys - boys offering their services, they are no less than ordinary prostitutes. If you want to see them in the conditions of the “reserve”, then take a walk around Boys Town. It is probably hard to see such a number of freaks from all over the world and men thirsting for male love anywhere else... In general, in Pattaya, anyone can find adventure on their own. It is simply impossible to be bored in this city. But many, of course, go to Thailand and Pattaya, primarily to relax on the sea.

Tour operators organize excursions to Ko Samet - one day, to Ko Chang two days. Of course, you can get there on your own, but you will have to deal with local bus routes and the sea delivery system to the islands. I managed to visit Ko Samet. It cost me $ 80 (the price of a tour operator with lunch on the island and dinner at a restaurant on the way back). Expensive, of course, but the experience was worth it! Although if you have a bike, then there will be no problems getting there. It is 80 km to the village, from where they sail to this island. The island is just gorgeous! It is believed that there is the cleanest sand in Thailand, and I think there is no exaggeration in this statement. As well as on Koh Larn, Koh Samet has many beaches. The island itself is a protected area. It is there that you feel like you are in paradise. The island has a wide variety of bungalows. For me, it’s a little expensive to give from 2800 to 6000 baht per night. But if this does not bother you, then it is quite possible to stay there for a couple of days. At the end of the day, we were picked up by a speed boat from Koh Larn and taken to a fishing village, where a bus picked us up. By the way, the village is quite colorful. It is there that you can see firsthand how ordinary Thais live. A huge number of fishing boats, painted with all the colors of the rainbow, like parrots. A persistent fishy smell, and at the end of the pier I saw a real tattoo parlor, which seemed to have descended from the screens of action films: a rotating fan, clouds of incense smoke and a master of dubious appearance. Only this is not scenery, but real life! After we were taken to a restaurant. So it's time to talk about

Food in Pattaya. As a standard, hotels offer buffet breakfasts. You will not die of hunger, but everything is quite simple. Of course, coming to Thailand and not eating local fruits is a crime. You can buy both in supermarkets and in the market. I recommend taking the market. Prices are basically the same, but they are fresh on the market, and you can bargain. The choice makes my head spin: pineapples, watermelons (even with yellow pulp), rambutans, mangoes, mangosteens, bananas, noina and, of course, the most exotic - durian. About durian conversation is generally separate. This fruit is very large with an exotic taste and a very unpleasant smell. Many hotels strictly forbid bringing durian into their rooms. The reason for this is the hydrogen sulfide smell that this fruit exudes immediately after cutting and is instantly absorbed into everything. Therefore, if you are not ready to eat this fruit right away, then it is better to buy it already cut into slices. Vendors in the market sell them already wrapped in cellophane. In the supermarket, I saw local boxes of durian chocolates, so you can please your loved ones at home with a piece of exotic. Pineapples and bananas cannot be compared with those sold here. Especially pineapples. Pomelo is sold in the markets without a peel, so that you do not have to deal with its painful cutting. In the center of Pattaya, the food market is located just behind the Mike Shopping Mall between Beach Road and Second Road. The merchants are mostly Chinese, so bargaining with them is difficult but possible. They know the phrase “home” and will help you pick fruits that will last for several days of transportation. I recommend taking a local mango with you. You won't try these with us. They sell them both yellow and green. By the way, the locals eat only green mangoes, they also give them a bag of spices. Thais call yellow mango "farang mango". From their point of view, these are already overripe mangoes and only stupid farangs can eat them, i. e. we are with you.

You can't escape Thai cuisine. If you go on excursions, you will be fed in local restaurants with local cuisine. It is very spicy, but for foreigners they make it like “without spices”, but without spices, this is in their understanding, and not in ours. At the end of the trip, I could no longer look at the rice. Salt is an exotic spice for them and you can’t find it in all catering establishments, so I recommend keeping a couple of bags of salt in your pocket for such cases. They do not season rice with the usual soy sauce. Therefore, be prepared for this. Shopping malls have food courts. A very convenient system has been introduced at the Central Festival - at the entrance to the food court, you leave at the cash desk the amount that you see fit and it is credited to your magnetic card. With this card you pay in all establishments on the territory of the food court. Then you can pick up the rest of the money at the checkout by returning the card. One feature - your card account is valid during the day, so if you do not withdraw the balance, then the next day your card will be reset to zero. In general, you can find many restaurants for every taste, and even with Russian cuisine. I was more impressed by the restaurants that are on the tourist routes. So after the island of Ko Samet we were taken to the restaurant "Tamnanpar". Which simply amazes with its park area with lawns, jungles, artificial ponds and waterfalls. He quite rightly positions himself as a forest spa restaurant. There are a lot of fish in the ponds, swans swim. The restaurant itself has a pavilion with artificial tropical rain. We were told that the toilet in this restaurant is listed in the Guinness Book of Records. The atmosphere is completely relaxing, the cuisine is national. In general, as I understand it, the Thais are turned on two things: ecology and economy. And the toilets in these restaurants are simply impressive. I have never seen toilets with artificial waterfalls inside! This is facilitated by the annual competition of toilets held in Thailand. Speaking of toilets, so you don't have a culture shock. In hotels, our typical toilets are installed in the rooms, but there is one peculiarity - they are about half filled with water. This does not mean that they are broken. It's so intended. Cheap public toilets are clean, but you won't find our classic cistern. Instead, a concrete container in which the ladle floats. This is how you save water. Also on an excursion to the River Kwai, I visited the Chomsaparm restaurant overlooking the river and the famous bridge. Also a beautiful area, a luxurious toilet. Good national cuisine. Excursions are a separate issue.

Excursions in Pattaya. Pattaya, I think, is the best place to explore the whole of Thailand and immerse yourself in the fabulous exotic of this country. How to get to a particular attraction is a matter of your taste and wallet. The standard tours already include, as a rule, a visit to the Crocodile Farm and the garden of million-year-old stones with a stop, of course, at the latex and jewelry factories. The performances at the crocodile farm did not impress me, but what is worth doing is feeding the crocodiles. Pretty fun activity. You buy a piece of chicken on a bamboo rod for 50 baht and start teasing the crocodiles. You can beat them in the face with a chicken, prevent them from catching the bait, or even rip an already grabbed chicken out of its mouth. Well, where do you have so much fun with us? There are very beautiful landscapes in the park of million-year-old stones, you can get very good pictures. You can safely get to all other places in Pattaya on your own. If you want to see Southeast Asia (Cambodia, Myanmar, Malaysia), then this can be done for very little money - there would be time. A lot of low-cost companies fly from Bangkok to these countries. The most famous of them is Air Asia. Making 5 flights between Asian countries for $100 is a reality. Only it is better to book tickets on the Internet in advance - at least 2 months in advance and keep in mind that you will not return the ticket back. I myself really wanted to get to Angkor Wat in Cambodia, but time constraints prevented me from doing it. Tour operators offer a tour there for $ 330, but it's expensive. You can organize it yourself. My acquaintances did just that, while spending only $150 per person and were very satisfied.
