We rested at the KOH CHANG TROPICANA RESORT & SPA 4 * 30.04-11.05. 2011. Came to Thailand for the first time. I was with a friend and three children 2.7 and 8 years old. Rest was a success for all 5+! What can I say about the hotel - excellent! Upon arrival, we were offered drinks and refreshing wet towels. Settled in quickly. The territory of the hotel is well-groomed, with numerous bridges, lakes, fountains. Everything is literally immersed in lush greenery. The air was fragrant with some wonderful aroma (later I found out that these are frangipani flowers smell so delicious). They put us in a deluxe bungalow (No. 219 and 220), although they paid for a cheaper "superior".
The room is large and spacious. Huge bed, sofa bed, armchair with footstool, coffee and writing table, TV, DVD, refrigerator. There is a bath and a shower (separate from the toilet). Cleaning and change of bed and towels was daily. Every time, returning from the beach, we found towel figurines decorated with flowers on the bed (regardless of whether you leave a tip or not)
There are 2 swimming pools on the territory - a smaller one near the beach and a large one near the SPA. SPA is a completely separate issue. Be sure to visit it. I have no words to describe all the emotions! ! Wonderful procedures, after which you feel reborn. I was on an aroma massage, did a body scrub, aloe wrap (good after a long stay in the sun), foot massage, pedicure. Service at the highest level! For the first time it is better to go together, because. 50% discount on the entire price! Prices including discounts - aroma massage 750, pedicure - 350, scrub + body wrap - 1100.

Nutrition. Breakfast - buffet. The menu is varied. Both vegetarian and meat; and Thai, and European, and Japanese. Loved the salad dressings. The menu is updated daily by 30%. Those. every day - croutons, toast, butter, omelettes, pancakes, ham, bacon, sausages, cheese, jams, drinks, vegetables / fruits, etc. , etc. , and hot dishes changed EVERY day. Since we had a small child with us (it was inconvenient to go somewhere every day), we also had lunch and dinner at the hotel restaurant (once we visited the Russian restaurant Yo-MOYO....and were far from delighted. Expensive, tasteless... ). So, about the hotel restaurant. The price tag, of course, is a little higher than just in a cafe. But close by. Prepare European, Japanese, Italian and Thai dishes. I really liked the shrimp in tamarind sauce - yummy (shrimp-160bat, rice - 20, a glass of juice -90, bottled water-40, tea - 50, hot noodles with broth - 180, pasta - 180, pizza - 160, meat steak 350 -700.2 chicken sandwiches - 160, alcoholic cocktails from 170. Some dishes were huge portions for two, some for one).
Beach. The hotel has its own beach, there are no outsiders, if only vacationers from neighboring hotels (which were also very few). But you can just as well walk along the shore to their territory. Low tides are strong in the morning. Tide in the evening. Entrance to the sea in corals. For me personally, this is not a problem. I don't consider this a disadvantage. Moreover, all the beaches of Koh Chang "suffer" from this. The sea and the beach are clean. True, there is no azure blue water. For this, you need to go on a tour of 5 islands (which I did and recommend to everyone). Plenty of sun loungers, they weren't booked in advance. Beach towels by the pool. There are 2 hammocks and a swing by the water. In the morning, merchants of jewelry and souvenirs walk along the beach. Smiling and unobtrusive. Reduce the price immediately by half, then agree.
About vacationers. There were very few people. Basically, these are Thais and Germans themselves, there are practically no Russians (which is what I wanted).
Hotel staff. Attentive and polite. English is spoken at the reception and in the restaurant. Just say everything clearly and slowly (better than 2 times)))
Infrastructure around the hotel. From the hotel there are 2 roads to the main. If you go to the right, then go out to the elephant farm (the cost of 1 hour excursion = 500 baht) and to the shops. On the left, the road will lead to cafes, shops, where there is everything you need, incl. 7/11, all kinds of shops, bike rentals, a bank. But the main shopping is best done on White Sand beach. To get to which by tuk-tuk 50 baht per person. To the fishing village of Bang Bao take 100. If you order a taxi at the hotel, it will cost 450 baht per car.

I also wanted to note that when we arrived at the hotel, they apologized to us and, due to some reasons, they offered to live in the neighboring Barali Resort & Spa 4 * hotel for the first 2 days. They took it there. As a token of apology - a free dinner or spa visit. This hotel is excellent too. I don't even know which one is better. Both liked it.
My conclusion is that the hotel is suitable for those who want a romantic, calm, comfortable, relaxing holiday. Probably not suitable for lovers of noisy parties.
