Hotel ratings by criteria:
I vacationed in Thailand with my family and friends at the end of April-beginning of May 2008. The tour was next - 5 days Pattaya - hotel Zign 4 *, 7 days about. Koh Samui - Chaweng Buri Resort 4 * and 2 days - Bangkok - Prince Palace Hotel 4 *.
I must say right away that I have been traveling with my family since 2002. We have already seen quite a lot, though from the "exotic" were only in the Dominican Republic. In addition, I manage a 4 * hotel in Ukraine, so I will give an adequate rating)

I want to note that I have never met such a people as Thais anywhere. Good nature, good manners and decency are instilled in them from childhood, this applies to people, and in hotels, and in restaurants, and in Thai villages. I make a note - it concerns only Thais, in Bangkok there are a lot of visitors for part-time jobs in taxis and tuk-tuks, I will describe my stay there later, I'm sure it will be very useful, it's a pity that when I was going to Thailand, I didn't find advice on the Internet, how to behave in the capital of this wonderful country).
So, Pattaya is an entertainment center (discotheques, night butterflies, transvestites, all sorts of night shows, good restaurants) You can’t swim on the beaches, the water is very dirty, you have to go to the islands, boats depart from the main pier, the ticket price is about 5 bucks per one person, it's to the island and back. Departure times every hour starting at 8.00 am. We went to the island "Lamae" once, after the Dominican Republic, we were not impressed at all, but there is a very cheap restaurant with awesome shrimp, such prices have not been seen anywhere else in Thailand. We lived in the hotel "Zign" 4 *, but he was already given 5 *, and I rate him 5+, super hotel, in art format, staff trained to fame, breakfast - 5 types of fruit, chicken, fish, 3 types of rice, potatoes , baking just a myriad of sausages, bacon, omelets, scrambled eggs, a lot of vegetables, a lot of Thai dishes. In the room there are bathrobes, slippers, mini-perfumes, water and other related attributes. Rooms are neat, clean, bathroom.
bath and shower units, there is a balcony. Two large, beautiful heated pools. In general, the hotel is quite new, the territory is well-groomed.

On excursions, we didn’t even see our guide, we moved everywhere ourselves, by taxi or tuk-tuk, it’s completely safe, the main thing is to agree on the price right away and bargain, the price can be reduced by 2 times. It is necessary to go to the Nong Nooch park, it is very beautiful, the elephant show is included in the ticket price (20 bucks per person). Further, the Mini Siam park, there are collected all the sights of the world, only in mini-copies, even St. Basil's Cathedral, which is on Crans Square, is) Entrance is about 8 bucks per person. Well, and definitely, you need to visit the 2-day excursion "River Kwai", very cool, we were at the hotel "Paradise on the River Kwai", as it is called in Russian, I liked it very much, it stands right on the water, near the shore, clear water , however, a large current.
So we swam in the pool the last days. Therefore, if it is possible to choose vacation dates, it is better to plan it before the May holidays.

Excursions, we take a moped, 10 bucks a day, it can fit 3 (small) people and travel around the island all day. You can drive around the entire island in a day.

It’s worth seeing a crocodile farm (show of crocodiles and snakes), visiting the observation deck, weak waterfalls, there is also an island of Buddha (interesting), there is also an orchid park, but we didn’t get there. Well, try spa treatments, they are offered by every hotel.

Advice, it’s better not to go to the Russian restaurant Mango, the portions are small, and alcohol costs sky-high money, for example, if in a good Thai restaurant, Thai whiskey costs 8 bucks, then in Mango, we paid 20 bucks. Moreover, in all restaurants, you can bring your own alcohol, you just need to ask for glasses and they will bring them to you.
And in "Mango" they told us, 20 bucks and you can drink your alcohol) By the way, in the markets, Thai whiskey costs 1.5 dollars (zoo ml), a good thing, try it and bring it to your friends.

Bangkok. Hotel Prince Palace 4 *, the staff is stupid, the service is lame, upon departure, the luggage was taken from us 20 minutes later than we appointed, and this is not acceptable upon departure, and you can be late for the plane. Breakfast, cleaning, room furnishing for 4.

We did not sit in the hotel for a minute, so I can’t write any more comments. And, for some reason, for 3 persons there was only one set of mini perfumes and two sets of towels. For 2 days you can take this hotel, it has a convenient location, all attractions are nearby.
Where to visit
1. Temples of the Buddha. (Grand Palace - for taxi drivers)
Now WARNING!!!!!
Temples are open from 8.00 am. Near the entrance there are some entities that look like Thais, but they are not Thais (remember, I wrote about the Thai nation, their decency, etc.

) even though they look similar. These are all sorts of people from the nearby countries of Thailand who tell tales that the temples are open exactly today, from 13.00, because today is the day of the sleeping Buddha and offer, for only $ 1.5, tuk-tuk services with city sightseeing. We fell for such a bait, lost half a day, took us to all kinds of jewelry shops, they have % from what they bring tourists to these shops, and the prices there are cosmic.
Also, the taxi drivers are very arrogant, again, they are not Thais, they ask you to stop by for shopping, and then I’ll take you to the place, immediately get out of the car or raise your voice, you understood several times) but this spoils the mood in order ..
By the way, taxi services and tuk-tuks cost the same.
there is no point in steaming on tuk-tuks, all taxis are air-conditioned.
There is a dress code in the Temples, legs to the ankles and shoulders to the elbows must be closed, this also applies to men, otherwise, you will have to rent things, but they are not the first freshness, so it’s better to dress in trousers and a T-shirt right away.

2. Oceanarium.
It is something!! ! entrance costs 25 bucks per person, children are considered to be up to 120cm = 15 bucks. Sharks, rays, turtles, penguins, etc. are great. It also includes watching a 4D movie, I won’t describe it, the impressions are class!! ! The oceanarium is located in a large shopping center "Paragon City", there are a lot of cafes with good food and prices, clothing stores, even car dealerships, super markets.

3. Baiyoke Sky.
this is a hotel on the 83rd floor, an observation deck on the 84th floor, the cost is 8 bucks, a cocktail, beer or juice is included in the restaurant on the 83rd floor. There is a shopping center near the hotel, it seems that there are normal prices and everyone is shopping there, but I won’t say more, I didn’t buy things in Thailand, but they brought a lot of fruit.

Here, in general, and all.
Yes, there are maps of cities in Thailand at airports, they are also available in hotels, restaurants, take them, they will help you travel a lot!
I am sure that the tips will help you, have a good rest and good impressions!
