I don't know about other hotels on the island, but at the Montra you can really relax. The hotel consists of 9 villas, which are located in such a way that you almost never meet your neighbors, complete privacy. Large villas, helpful staff, good cleaning, beautiful pool, very hearty breakfasts. There are no noisy restaurants nearby, only the sound of the wind, the birds and you. Most importantly, there are no mosquitoes and other midges when everyone else around is biting. The hotel took very good care of it. The only thing is that there are no telephones in the rooms, to call you need to go to the reception.

There is one minus, but for me it did not become such. The hotel is 1 km from Lamai Beach. But even here the hotel got out of the situation, a shuttle service to / from the beach is FREE OF CHARGE. Many, for some reason, do not use, do not know, maybe.

There is also a service (transfer from / to the airport, costs only 500 baht, when other taxis offer a minimum of 800 baht). Drive 20-25 min.
Not far from the hotel there is a Tesco Lotus store, which has food courts, a market with groceries, appliances and clothing, etc. ).

In fact, walking to the beach or to restaurants is only 10 minutes. At the same time, you can consider the Lamai area. Well, or if you are too lazy to walk, you can rent a bike, there are rental shops where you can rent a bike for just 100 baht per day. It was not interesting for us, we wanted to see, walk around, and, well, a little sport.
There are two exchange offices near the hotel. The rate is better, in the exchange office with a yellow sign, and not with a blue one, unfortunately, I didn’t remember the name, and on the whole island at all points with a yellow sign, this rate is better than at Bangkok airport. During the day in the Lamai beach area, there are many cafes, restaurants, but most start working after 17:00 full time. You can always find a place to dine. Lunch can cost 200-400 baht (220-440 rubles), dinner for two at 400-800 baht (440-880 rubles).
The maximum bill was 1900 baht, but we just ordered a set with lobster (mussels, shrimp, crab, fish, octopus, squid and lobster). We barely got up from the table, but it was very tasty.
There is also a massage parlour. The cost is almost the same everywhere 200-300 baht, but the result is different. And on the island there is a problem with English. language, they lose the endings of words. At first it was difficult to understand what they were saying, you had to think it over and at that moment you sinned in your English, but over time you start to get used to it. After all, tourism began to develop on the island only 4 years ago, so they still have to grow and develop the island.

In the evening, also in the area of u200bu200bcafes, restaurants, macaques, a market with souvenirs open. You can bargain, but if you then go to Bangkok, it is better to buy there. Cheaper and more choice and what washed away to drag everything with you.

We took a 4x4 Safari excursion, it included: (a trip to the Grandmother and Grandfather rocks, honestly there is nothing to see there, the stories are fictional, but we had to, then we went to the oldest tree on the island and the temple, where there was a mummified monk, whose life passes processes to this day, then we were brought to the safari park, where they watched the show of elephants, the show of the monkey (which twisted the coconut, which I don’t know, but the children will probably like it) and the crocodile show. we were taken to the waterfall, and then the weather turned bad, it started to rain, but this did not stop us and we went further to some kind of garden and then to the highest point of the island, and because of the weather we didn’t want to, because there is not a very good road, but we all decided to go, it was scary of course).
The most important thing is to specify how much a person is driving, because it is more profitable for them to cram as many people as possible into the car, but they will not care how you drive, and there may not be enough belts for everyone, and when climbing such a road it is very important. In general, an excursion to the 3-ku, but they just don’t have anything supernatural there, but they need to entertain the people, so they come up with stories and places to visit. You can choose some other excursion, they offer a lot, but according to other tourists, we decided not to attend the excursions that we planned from the very beginning, so as not to waste time and money in vain. There is no friend for the taste and color, but I think you can find something for yourself and the right excursion.

The weather was different, it rained steadily at night, during the day it could drip 2-3 drops in the literal sense. Well, once on the tour there was a downpour. And it was cloudy, it was clear, but I advise you to always smear with creams, you can burn out even with clouds, much faster.
The sea is excellent, Lamai beach is the best, clean and comfortable.

In general, the holiday was a success, prices are higher than in Bangkok, but lower than in Phuket. There is something for everyone who likes to swim and sunbathe, go on excursions, make new friends, just relax and enjoy your vacation! Must definitely visit. Samui.

I hope that the review will set someone on a trip, someone will be able to explain what kind of island it is, and someone will decide to go there on their wonderful and unforgettable vacation.
