You should not expect an elite holiday from the island, this is NOT Dubai, Not the Maldives. Koh Samui is a small village, the buildings are no higher than palm trees, you can meet a buffalo or a donkey on the roads. In the center of Chaweng (the most densely populated place with tourists), near her shop, a Thai mother washes her baby in a basin, right on the street. Everything is very simple without frills, it has its own charm.
A few tips:
1. No need to take an expensive hotel, because unlike, for example, from Turkey, rest is not concentrated in the hotel. In Thailand, in a hotel, you will only sleep.
2. The best beach is Chaweng Noi. It is between Chaweng and Lamai. Alternatively, you can take at the end of Chaweng. Lamai is boring, and for the nightlife you still have to go to Chaweng. Chaweng is too crowded, some kind of fuss. But Chaweng Noi is the most optimal place - close to restaurants, shops, nightlife and at the same time the place is quiet and peaceful.
3. No matter how you bargain with street vendors, in supermarkets, and there are 2 of them on the island: Big C and Lotus, everything is cheaper.
4. You can eat cheaply at Lotus, it’s kind of like catering in our way, go to the dining area, they give you a card, you put money on it and go to choose a cuisine: Italian, Thai, Mediterranean, etc. , if the money is left on card, they are returned to you at the exit. Complex meat rice salad cost 35 rubles. delicious.
As for the beach area, there is a line of restaurants along the beach, and there is a second line, few people know about it. Everything is 2 times cheaper there, only there is no interior and plastic chairs with tables. And so the same delicacies and seafood.
Food can be bought in a supermarket, fresh-frozen seafood is sold there, and they can cook it for you for free (fry, boil or grill)
5. The best time for a holiday is April-May. This is not the season, prices for everything are reduced, there are few tourists. The weather is great, the sea without waves.
