My husband and I rested in the Ambassodor department (Tower wing) December 12 - January 2013. We bought a ticket on the Tez tour through the Green Tour agency from the manager Irina Burya (Khabarovsk). To the greatest regret, by the time the tour was purchased, there was practically no choice of hotels - only Cholchan and Ambassador. Irina assured us that if the CholChan hotel arranged for us on our previous trip, then we would be delighted with the Ambassador. I previously read far unflattering reviews about this hotel and asked Irina if this was true? To which she replied that it could only be in another wing, and this Tower Wing is in excellent condition, 4 stars and nothing to worry about.
Imagine our disappointment when we arrived at the hotel! All reviews are true! I will describe everything in detail, but first I want to note that we are not one of those who, if they want to find fault with something, will definitely find flaws. Before that, we have already been to Thailand (at the Chol Chan Hotel), Vietnam, Egypt, Turkey, stayed at 3 hotels.
4.5 stars, BUT we have not seen a worse hotel! There is nothing to give him half a star for!

Firstly, already walking along the corridor you see dirty walls and huge fungal stains on the ceiling. While we were staying at the hotel, a boy periodically walked by, whitewashed the ceiling, but after a couple of days these spots appeared again. In the room itself - in the bathroom there is also a fungus on the ceiling. The room - the walls were once whitewashed long ago, but now, as in the corridor, there are dirty stains. The window should be described separately. Apparently, the window has not been washed from the outside since the construction of the building, the administration apparently saves on industrial climbers. Dirty stains and streaks are so clearly visible that it is scary to approach the window. The tulle also apparently has not been washed for 10 years, if not more, it is noticeable that it should be white, but it is a dark gray dirty color. Repair and replacement of furniture and interior, apparently, has not been since the construction of the hotel.
Everything is very prehistoric, there is no normal lighting either in the room or in the bathroom. There are some structures made of wood and glass that replace lamps, they are very bulky, but there is almost no exhaust from them, moreover, they were apparently once flooded from the inside, because there are dirty stains from the inside. I managed to make up for the NG party with great difficulty with such a meager light.
When we saw all this disgrace during check-in, we were asked to be relocated, we were offered a room with a sea view, while the same old, dirty and with the same stained windows for which they demanded an additional payment of 400 baht per day. We of course refused. And they specially took 2-day excursions in order to stay overnight in this garbage dump as little as possible.
Cleaning in the room - the bed is changed every day, the floors are washed every day, but they don't do anything else! ! ! - Dust on the shelves, on the cabinet, on the mirrors.
The sinks in the bathroom were cleaned every 3-4 days, the mirror in the bathroom was not washed even once in 2 weeks!

There are no slippers in the room, and walking around such a room barefoot, you know, is not very pleasant, you had to walk in shoes. In the bathroom, a box of yellowed plastic hangs on the wall with what looks like a hose from a vacuum cleaner and a telephone receiver, it turned out to be a hair dryer! The mini bar is empty, not even juices. There are no dry cleaning bags in the rooms! In order to hand over your things for dry cleaning or ironing, you need to collect everything in a bag, go down to the reception and explain to the administrator what things need to be done with. There are no safes in the rooms, a common safe at the reception, where there are always queues. The mode of operation is extremely inconvenient - from 7.00 to 23.00. We encountered situations twice - we go on an excursion at 4-5 in the morning, and we return from another excursion or Wallking street and we need to take money, passports in the safe, but it is closed. I had to swear with the staff, demand to open the safe.
They went to meet us, but anyway, the mood was spoiled by this fact.

Breakfasts are extremely poor (during the entire stay at the hotel they had breakfast only three times, because there was no desire to eat there), elementary, for all the time only pineapple, watermelon and papaya were served from fruits - and this is in a tropical country ! ! !
The territory of the hotel is large, in general, not bad, but again not very well-groomed. For example, the largest pool is quite dirty. It is somehow cleaned every day, but still the water is cloudy, napkins and bags float. Only one swimming pool is clean (2 children's do not count), and then next to it at 10 am there are no free sun loungers, as well as on the beach. The beach itself is clean, but the sea, as in all of Pattaya - not everyone dares to swim in it, especially on some days garbage floated near the shore.
New Year's party "deserves" a hotel story. When buying a ticket, we were told that it was mandatory, we could not refuse.
I had to pay - $ 169 per person! Crazy money for Thailand, in our opinion! And for such an entrance ticket price, we expected a certain level of service, comfort, organization, after all. And again, we were deeply disappointed. Since the hotel is huge, all the guests were present at the party - more than one thousand people offhand. Our places turned out to be, to put it mildly, in Kamchatka (we were far from alone). Naturally, we could not see the stage on which the concert was taking place. A screen was installed not far from us, on which this concert was broadcast and speakers, the sound from which was delayed and came with an echo, so it was almost impossible to make out what the presenter was saying. In general, it turned out, not a live New Year's show, but watching TV with a damaged speaker.
As for food, there were tents with different cuisines of the world around the perimeter - a buffet.

In total, in order to somehow “set” our New Year's table, I stood in line for about 40 minutes. All this time, my husband stood in line at the bar. By the way, our New Year's ticket included coupons for alcohol, my husband and I had 2.000 baht for two, for this amount we could afford one bottle of 100 Pipers whiskey, which costs 370 baht in stores! There was no question of any champagne or wine when it was our turn, it was all over in the bar. There were no free soft drinks, you had to change also for coupons at the bar or buy for cash, one small glass of cola cost 200 baht! And then it ended very quickly. It was strictly forbidden to bring your own alcoholic and non-alcoholic drinks, even for a fee. And since I still wanted to drink, I had to go to the store for cola and hide it in a camera case. Here's a party for $169 per person! ! !
I note that we have something to compare with - we met New Year's Eve 2012 in Vietnam, where we voluntarily bought a ticket to an New Year's party costing about $60-70 (I don't remember exactly) per person, we were extremely pleased with the organization, cuisine, program and everything else!
In the end, I want to say that the rest in my beloved Thailand, no matter what, was gorgeous! But these little things were an extremely unpleasant fly in the ointment. Moreover, for a 2-week trip for two, we laid out almost 10.000 rubles. (including NG evening).
