My husband and I were in Ocean Wing from 12/21/2008 to 01/03/209 and from 12/20/2009 to 01/02/2010 deluxe double room.
The hotel is worthy, it pulls on its 4 stars! Of course it is a little old, but it is being quietly renovated. A hotel for a relaxing and sightseeing holiday. However, it is worth considering some nuances:
1. ask for a room with a view of the large pool, because on the other side there is a wasteland and the view is not very good.
2. On excursions they will be picked up in the first rows (at 5:30 - 6:00).
3. Getting to the center is really inconvenient, but minibuses run quite often.
4. The disadvantages include the huge influx of Thais on holidays.
But there is a private beach, shops and a small market (where you can buy fruits and souvenirs not expensive), there are cafes and massage parlors nearby. The breakfasts are delicious and varied. Be sure to go to the local Chinese restaurant (it is located on the first floor, where the shops are).

The Japanese (hotel) restaurant is not very good, there is no assortment at all.
If you want sushi, I highly recommend the food court in the LOTUS supermarket (10 min drive from the hotel towards the center). They sell sushi from the stall for 10 baht / piece.
If you are a mischievous reveler, then you have a direct road to hotels in the center.
