We did not dare to visit Thailand for a long time, but the advice of friends and the reviews of tourists put an end to our doubts and my husband and I decided to celebrate our anniversary in Thailand. We chose the Sunset Village Hotel, Jomtien, Pattaya. The selection criteria were: remoteness from Pattaya, the presence of a private sandy beach in the hotel, a sea suitable for swimming and few people. We were bribed by the description of the hotel on the website of the c7 tour operator, whose services we used, the photos posted on the website of this hotel, and a few reviews of tourists who visited this hotel. What we saw when we arrived at the hotel shocked us. In the photo of the hotel, we saw a rainbow picture, a sandy beach with an azure sea. There was no sandy beach there. the entire coast was strewn with stones and some kind of construction debris. to our questions to the hotel staff "where is the sandy beach that is depicted in the advertisement?
"They only smiled, pretending not to understand the essence of the issue. During the same period in this hotel, we met other Russian tourists who were also in a state of shock from the beach and the inability to swim in the sea (although the sea was normal, no worse than Black On the day of our arrival, there was a high tide and therefore the stones on the shore were hidden by water. At the same time, there were no warning notices about the presence of stones when entering the sea from the beach. When trying to enter the sea, I received bruises and abrasions on my legs, I had to swim The next morning, at low tide, the whole horrifying picture of the "sandy beach" appeared. It was insulting to tears that a significant event for my husband and I, for which we had long and carefully prepared, was spoiled. Next, the next shock awaited us - breakfasts.
Since the hotel was sold to us with a 4-star rating, we quite assumed that breakfasts would be of the "buffet" type, as is customary in almost all resort hotels in the world. We read that breakfasts in this hotel are poor, we were ready for this, but not as much as it turned out in reality. The tables were empty. Modestly on one table there are plates with sliced u200bu200blike onions, cucumbers, tomatoes, bell peppers and lettuce, watermelon, papaya, pineapple and banana, several pieces of chopped sausage of dubious quality, bread for toasters, 2 types of buns, jam, loaf. several types of juices from tetrapacks. Moreover, all the products were not in containers, but on plates covered with straw caps, despite the fact that the heat was about 30 degrees, flies and midges were flying. Then they brought us a plate of scrambled eggs and bacon. we managed to find out that since there are few tourists, it is unprofitable to serve a buffet for the hotel.

The same situation was in the Sunset Park Hotel (one owner). We were in this position from 19 to 22 April 2011. Everything changed when the Thais stopped by for the weekend. The "buffet" was immediately laid, there were other products besides scrambled eggs. This went on for days. With the departure of the Thais, everything returned to normal. But by this time we had already agreed (with the help of Tez-tour guides, (mind you not our guide from the host Antilles, whom we hadn’t seen in 14 days) that in addition to eggs, they could bring us a cup of rice and soup with seafood. Here so we lived for another 3 days. On Friday, April 29, the arrival of Thais began again and the buffet appeared again. We realized that the hotel is focused on Thais, other tourists simply do not exist for them. I understand everything, food is not the main thing in life But when you are on vacation in a foreign country, this moment is also important for a normal, positive vacation.
The next step is housekeeping. never in the hands of the maids did not see a bucket with a rag. Immediately in the house, a whisk hung on a carnation, with which they dispersed the dust in different corners, and this was the end of the cleaning. True towels were changed every day, bed every 3 days. Cleaning of the territory of the hotel itself was also leisurely. It felt like the pools weren't cleaned at all. Leaves were lying around, the leaves fell into the water, no one caught it. I watched as the Thai woman was cleaning the shower room near the pool: she took out a towel from the basket, which is given out at the pool, threw it on the floor, rubbed the floor with it, including in the toilet room, then threw it back into the basket. And then someone will sunbathe on this towel.
We decided to go to a hotel restaurant for dinner, we went, we saw dirty tablecloths on the tables, in front of our face the waitress with a sweet Thai smile swept rubbish and crumbs around, we decided not to go there anymore. It’s just that my husband and I used to always rest in Hainan and saw what a hardworking people, the Chinese, all day, they rub something, wash, clean, a leaf falls into the pool, they run with a net to catch. Like 2 Asian countries, but people are different. This is how we got our vacation. We returned home with a terrible aftertaste from a spoiled vacation, and a firm conviction that Thailand is not the country where we would like to return. A lot has already been written about dirt, stench and unsanitary conditions in Pattaya itself and there is no point in repeating it.
This hotel left a double impression: a negative from the above, but the second point is that the hotel area is wonderful.

Everywhere tropical trees, flowers, squirrels or mongooses run around (we saw snakes), birds sing, no noise, no fuss. This is the only advantage of this hotel. But in the Jomtien area there are other hotels where you can really swim and take a break from work, from worries, and not have a headache where to eat. We visited friends at the See Sun Sad Hotel (behind the Sunset Village Hotel), and at the Pinnacle Hotel. I really liked these hotels. As they say, there are no comrades for taste and color, but maybe my story about this hotel will be useful to someone, and if your goal is to relax on the seashore, swim and sunbathe enough, you are not in this hotel.
For those who are inclined towards a sightseeing type of vacation, you should also not choose this hotel, rest in this hotel is not cheap, why overpay if you won’t stay at the hotel, the hotel is located on the very outskirts of Jomtien (tuk-tuks almost don’t get there late in the evening, we were even dropped off near the Ambassador), getting to the center of Pattaya and back is hard. taxi one way 400-500 baht. to everyone who is going to this hotel I will answer questions about how to get to the city center, where to eat nearby
