O. Djerba Melia Palm Azur 4*
It took us a long time to decide where to go on our honeymoon. They offered standard options Egypt, Turkey, but we wanted something different. We needed a quiet, romantic vacation without noise, din, discos, exactly the place where we are meant for ourselves. Of course, we wanted to go to the Maldives, but the finances were not suitable for this. In one of the agencies, they did not suggest about Djerba, they said the same with white sand and quiet rest, for this reason they decided to go there. We chose the Melia Palm Azur 4 * hotel, we wanted it to be all-inclusive without any problems with towels and food, we didn’t want to think about it. We read all the forums on this hotel, and there were a lot of opinions about Djerba and the hotel, both positive and negative. As they say, how many people have so many opinions. This was probably the reason for writing this text. When we read the forums and visited various travel agencies and companies, another Magic Life hotel “surfaced” the same four, it is considered the best among the fours in Djerba, then our hotel went. But the price for this hotel is the same as for the five, it was more profitable to go to the five. We began to monitor all price fluctuations on Melia Palm Azur, which depended on the price per dollar and on the agency. If you go, then go from a tour operator, in St. Petersburg the only tour operator on Djerba is "Express tours", everyone else just buys tickets from them, there is also the Neva, mostly tours to the mainland in Tunisia. Express tours are monopolists and behave accordingly (if you don't like it, don't take it). We decided to fly to Djerba from 16.09. 09 for 10 days. The price, of course, varied greatly from 56 thousand rubles. at the end of June and up to 84 thousand rubles. at the beginning of August. We thought, let's go, take vouchers for two days as hot, it's good that they changed their minds and took it earlier. We took vouchers on September 9, and then it only turned out that on that day all and all vouchers were bought out, only triples remained, and then the worst ones. When we bought vouchers, Express tours showed themselves to be monopolists, we didn’t like some of the clauses in the contract that related to the replacement of the room and the hotel, to our request to change it slightly, we received an answer that we don’t like it, don’t take it (IN CHINA THEM WOULD BE SEE THEM, HOW THEY FIGHT FOR CLIENTS), but decided to take it from them anyway.
We had a flight at 16.40 on September 16, tickets were received at the airport, issued, though their representative of the Neva. I’ll immediately say one important remark in the contract that it is written that 9 nights, and not 10 days, as it is written on the company’s website, why I wrote this, because we arrived in Djerba at one in the morning, therefore, one day was already lost.

The plane is standard for Tunisian airlines, an old one that flaps its own wings during the flight, leather seats like in old Mercedes.
On the plane I met a couple who told me that they had bought their ticket on 09/10/09 and there weren’t even a single four, there were three and then very few and not for running hotels.
On the plane, the Tunisian crew spoke French, English and German, they did not know Russian. During the flight, I felt ashamed of the Russians, three ladies were sitting behind us, who were bruising, two of whom were just sitting forty years old, yelling, and one of whom was about 24 years old and got drunk and felt sick, staggered to the toilet to do her business and at the same time smoked, for which the steward took her passport from her, I don’t know if she was fined or not, but the captain in the cockpit scolded her for a long time. They say no one saw her sober for 10 days, it's good that this chicken was not in our hotel.
We landed, the meeting party was Express tours, went through control and at the exit from the airport we were met by guides who directed us to the buses. Roman, a normal kid, advised us on the bus, but you should not trust and rely on him.
They brought us to the hotel at about two in the morning, from the bus we were alone in this hotel. At the reception, he asked Roman to say that we had a honeymoon trip, so that they would give a better room, of course, they didn’t open the bar for two people, but they brought fruits and mineral water to the room. The room was certainly nice with a beautiful view of the sea and the main pool. We fell asleep to the beautiful song of drunken German youth swimming in the pool.

We didn’t sleep much at six in the morning, we couldn’t sleep anymore, in St. Petersburg at that time it was already nine. We walked around the hotel, I asked at the reception how many Russians were in the hotel, it turned out to be ten, although for the entire period I counted seven people, the rest were Germans and French of advanced age. I immediately ordered a safe in the room, it cost 2 dinars per day. At five or six in the morning, foreign pensioners were already going to take sunbeds near the pool and on the beach.
The hotel made us happy and the beach too, but the entrance to the sea was bad, I generally thought that if there were stones, they were hewn with water, but here they are very sharp and inconspicuous, it’s impossible to walk along, but we already knew from the read forums that it is worth walking five minutes to the right and there are wonderful white beaches with an excellent entrance to the sea. The beach itself was also cool, but we also wanted the sea. Every morning at nine o'clock, a tractor came and cleaned the beach, because. during the night it filled up, as we called hedgehogs, small incomprehensible balls.
The breakfast was wonderful, and for the entire period of our stay, the food was varied, tasty for 10 points. After breakfast we went to the lighthouse, it's like I said about five minutes to the right to go, the eyes rejoiced at what they saw, really a snow-white spit of white sand, where the depth is somewhere knee-deep, after 60 meters a gradual depth already begins. Vintage boats of fishermen give this view the greatest beauty, remoteness from the bustle and some kind of intimacy....
As I said, we got a good room, they cleaned it every day without any problems. In some reviews, we read that someone had been robbed, I decided to check, I put the dinar on the table, but after cleaning, when we arrived, we saw the cleanliness in the room, put things in order on the table and moved the dinar. If you want to be spun from towels or bows, leave one dinar on the bed, but this is the same if the cleaning lady knows how, otherwise it is not necessary.

If you talk about nutrition, then this is a fairy tale !! ! I will not list what is there and how it is, but in the morning I always wanted something easier to eat, but it did not work out. After various sausages and sausages (somewhat similar to German ones, only spicy), various porridge, we ate huge donuts (donuts), not the same as ours in size, but one on the whole plate and sprinkled it abundantly with chocolate or some jam. Lunch is no less varied. You could have lunch at the main restaurant, a barbecue bar and a bar near the Pirate beach, where they cooked fish (or something else) right in front of you on an open fire, with various salads, cuts and seafood. The coolest was the dinner, which was dedicated each time to a new topic. I won't list them all, just the ones that stand out the most. One evening we arrived, and the entrance was blocked by a huge canvas to the ceiling depicting the sea and fish. This evening was dominated by seafood (shrimp, mussels, fish, octopus), I really liked the lasagna with mussels. Why I said they prevailed, because there were always standard dishes: pasta, potatoes, various meats, only with different sauces and in different conditions. They always offered to put wine (red, rose, white) and naturally locally produced mineral water on the table. Also an evening of Tunisian cuisine, very spicy and not familiar. My wife and I went up to one dish, in which there was a thick, very black mass, as if coal was crushed with water, and the smell of non-French perfume. One of the cooks, seeing our facial expressions, began to explain to us that it was very tasty, told us how to eat it, and I decided to try it, my wife refused. It turned out to be beef in large chunks, it tasted very tasty and tender, just stunned, the only smell was to be desired. I remember very much the evening of Italian cuisine, with pizza, lasagna, pasta with various sauces. On the last evening, I said that there was still not enough shawarma, I looked up and here it is shawarma :  )) , it became really funny.
But, I did not say the most important thing, the coolest thing is the tables with sweets, they were filled with pastries, cakes, fruits, ice cream and I remember palm trees made of chocolate and caramel.
It was also possible to order a restaurant for two, only there it was necessary to sign up for three days. We went once, we really didn’t like it, the only thing is that the atmosphere is cool.
Where you can go there is: to the Sahara (when we were, it cost 200 dinars per person, the reviews are also different on it, we weren’t, but the Russians we met spoke cool; boat trip, on an old pirate sailboat; overview a city tour, but there is nothing to do on it, Djerba is a small island, it is easier to get to the city of Midoun by taxi, it costs 3 dinars of the price on the counter. There you can buy souvenirs, mainly camel leather products and ceramics. It is better to buy in state stores, there prices are fixed, you can’t bargain, the only price in stores can vary with a difference of 2-5 dinars. If you bargain, there are tents where you are told that the minimum fixed prices, but in practice it is 6-7 times more expensive. For example, I bought a painting from sand, at first the seller called the price 150 dinars, I bargained with him up to 21 dinars, having learned that we were from Russia, he called us the Russian mafia. to go. Here, another example, I bought in the state. a small tam-tam (drum) store for 2.5 dinars, went to a nearby shop to a private trader, he started rubbing the same fairy tale to me, a fixed price and said that it costs 30 dinars (So consider the difference, but the tam-tam are the same), I showed him the price tag on mine, he began to lament something in Arabic, I did not understand.
Russians are rare here, mostly confused with Poles and Czechs.
In the evenings, I felt like I was in a French nursing home. French music of the 60s and 70s and smoothly dancing German-French pensioners created the illusion.

One day there was a strong wind and a storm, there were ten people on the beach, after breakfast my wife and I went to the beach, I went to the sea and stood, enjoying the strong warm salty wind rushing into my face, probably only Russians enjoy it , I wanted to scream obscenely with pleasure, as in one of Zadornov's monologues. And then I heard a voice behind me with the question “Slav”, I turn and look, a healthy man is standing, I say yes, you should have seen his joy. The guy is cool, he turned out to be from Murmansk, though he doesn’t know any languages at all, he doesn’t even understand what they are talking about, I myself don’t talk much, but at least I understand. The remaining three days, we talked together. Then we went home, and he went to the Sahara. I forgot his name, maybe I'll see you again.
We flew to St. Petersburg normally, only when it came time to receive things it turned out that only one bag out of two flew in from our things, the second flew to France. For some passengers, not one did not arrive. All due to the fact that they were loaded on the wrong plane, and the airport was told that this is normal for Tunisian airlines, they are purely mistaken or not everyone is thrown. Four days later, the bag was returned to us intact.
Would like to go there too. Everyone has a good rest.
