We vacationed in Bel Azur in July 2007. Perhaps I will first write about Tunisia itself.
After the rest I had a double impression of the country. On the one hand, there is a good climate, beautiful sandy beaches and, in general, a good rest, on the other hand, terrible service, high cost and boredom. Perhaps the problem is that there is something to compare. Dear tourists, do not expect something supernatural from Tunisia! The thing worth going there for is undoubtedly the Sahara, because you will not see this anywhere else. But the tour is quite expensive - 150 USD. per person. But if objectively, it is not worth that kind of money, although it leaves a lot of impressions. You can also visit the ruins of Carthage, but this tour is purely historical, and not everyone likes such.
If you want to spend a purely passive holiday, then Tunisia is probably the right choice. The beaches are very good - fine white sand, a good entrance to the water and the sea is warm and clean. And for activists, boredom is utter! The animation is terrible. In our hotel, the animation had about 4 programs that they rolled in a circle. Especially karaoke - it's impossible to listen to these songs till night. When I read that the Bel Azur hotel is noisy, I want to laugh. In the evening they did not know where to put themselves, everywhere is quiet and calm. By the way, an interesting fact is that practically nowhere in the hotels there are metal-plastic windows! Hearing is amazing!

As for the hotel - is Bel Azur one of the Azur chain hotels? which also includes Royal Azur 5 * and Sol Azur 4 *. Bel Azur is territorially between them. The territory is common, and all tourists can use the benefits of any of the hotels (except for the restaurant and rooms). Bel Azur is a modest 3*+ hotel. In reality, he pulls on his 3 stars and maybe even a little more. The hotel is clean, bright and tidy. If you do not find fault, everything is OK. Upon arrival, we were accommodated in Royal Azur 5 * for 1 night, because there were no places in our hotel (this is the host side of Carthage Plus, which reserves places for tourists).
The rooms are terrible and at first we were in a panic, what if such a nightmare in 5 stars, then what will happen in 3? The Royal rooms are very dark. We had dirty towels, bedspreads with stains and sand, in general, horror! Their restaurant is really not bad (even shorts are not allowed for dinner), everything is beautifully served and the food is decent (in Bel Azur the cuisine is worse and the choice is smaller - contrary to all the reviews of tourists who like to eat : ). In Bel Azur, the restaurant looks like some kind of canteen and there are just a crowd of people. True, we were at the height of the season and the hotel was packed to capacity. BUT the rooms in Bel are much better!!! ! Firstly, they are light, secondly they are spacious and thirdly it is simply more pleasant to return to such a room. But the location itself is not very good. In Yasmine, it seems to me more interesting - there is where to take a walk, a cafe, a promenade and everything is nearby.
FROM Bel Azur to Medina (souvenir market) about 2 km, you can take a taxi for 2 dinars (1.26 dinars = 1 dollar). You can dine there, because the Azur grid only offers HB meals. Finding a good cafe with decent food is honestly difficult. Basically everywhere they sell pizza, sandwiches, pancakes and drinks. This is the whole set.
I want to separately note the work of Carthage Plus (the host company): they sell super-cool excursions, but when it comes to some problems, you won’t find them! You have to negotiate everything yourself.
Plus Azur nets for tourists who want to visit the thalasso therapy center (seaweed wraps, massages, sea water pool, etc. ) On the territory of Royal Azur is the Bio Azur thalasso therapy center, well-known in Tunisia. A classic 6-day course of mud-ointments will cost about 600 USD. So the question arises - is it worth it to go to Tunisia to anoint yourself with mud for that kind of money? I agree with the statement that Tunisia is the country where you should go, but 1 time... .
