We welcome everyone who is interested in our review! We just arrived from Tunisia and immediately share our impressions. Perhaps someone our review will be interesting and useful. We rested together with my husband at The Pirates Gate Royal Tolasso Hotel from 08/23/2013 to 08/30/2013. Let's make a reservation right away that before that we were in Turkey 4 times, Spain, Paris twice, Poland, Germany, Belgrade, Venice, Italy, Belgium. So there is something to compare.
About everything in order.
Flight, transfer.

Departed from St. Petersburg without delay at 11:20. We flew for about 4 hours by Tunisian Airlines, flight attendants and stewards do not speak Russian, knowledge of English helped a lot. The steward told me that this crew already had 4 flights back and forth without a break for rest. We were fed on the plane (once), not very tasty, but with beer, or rather with whiskey bought in duty free, it will go))) raw potato salad, as I understand it, is a specialty of Tunisian airlines. Transfer from Monastir airport took about 10 minutes. Very fast. The driver was not given a tip. he didn't get overwhelmed. Apparently he didn't like it. He put on such a disgruntled face that it was sickening to watch)))
Money in Tunisia. Money, or rather dollars, was changed at the airport at the normal rate, for 250 dollars we were given 404 dinars. It comes out to about 20 rubles per dinar. Exchange offices are available in all decent stores. The course is about the same everywhere, so feel free to change.
Settlement. Rooms in the hotel.
Upon arrival at the hotel, we were immediately taken to the restaurant for lunch. For a room with a sea view at the reception they asked for $ 80, we refused. We were given a room on the first floor in a two-story bungalow with a balcony on the ground))) We refused to settle in such a room. And the porter boy ran to the reception for the key to another room. They gave me a normal room, on the second floor with air conditioning, a large balcony overlooking the neighboring bungalows and the neighboring hotel. The beds in the room are made of stone, with large mattresses on top. Interestingly, the bathroom has a small window, you can wash and watch the local scenery. The towels were old, grey, but clean and ironed.
Cleaning. The room was cleaned every day, bows with flowers were laid out on the bed. I left $3 on the mirror for the cleaner, she didn't take it. It turned out that a tip for the cleaning lady should be put on the bed)))
Service. Staff. The staff is smiling, friendly, but lazy, they don’t even want to do anything for money. The general impression is that everything is done "for fuck off", and so it goes, tyap blunder. One bartender, when asked to put ice in my cola, replied that the cola was already cold, went to the refrigerator, took out ice with his hand and put it in my glass.

Nutrition. Breakfast, lunch and dinner are served in the same main restaurant. The food is very good, everything is delicious. Meat every day, chicken, fish, salads, cakes, cookies, sweets, watermelons, peaches, pears, apples, grapes, melons. There were soups, french fries, pasta, rice. For breakfast they gave scrambled eggs, cereals, yoghurts, dry breakfasts, croissants. There were no queues. Coffee, hot chocolate, black or green tea only for breakfast. The rest of the time, the snake bar is open around the clock, where you can drink tea, coffee, refresh yourself with croissants, rolls, pizza. Everything is very tasty and fresh. I managed to gain 5 kg in a week. So be careful, delicious food is the path to obesity. An army of flies spoils the appetite, and in the evening a regiment of mosquitoes. Take mosquito spray with you.
Alcohol and drinks. Sprite, cola, fanta in the hotel are very tasty.
Alcoholic drinks in the hotel g... but !! ! Wine in the restaurant for lunch and dinner is still drinkable. Beer sucks! Cocktails are all diluted with water in violation of all proportions in bottles that do not correspond to reality))) It is impossible to get drunk in this hotel !! ! Of course there is no ultra in this hotel!! ! Although some Russians negotiated with bartenders for money, and they gave them whiskey, wine, vodka.
For those who like to drink, it is better to stock up on alcohol in duty free in Russia. there is only one small duty free shop at Monastir airport. There are no problems with duty free shops at the new Edfidna airport.
Sea. The water in the sea is very warm, salty))) There were jellyfish. The first days we were lucky, there were no jellyfish. There have been a lot of them for the last three days. We were stung five times. At first it burns very strongly, then the burn area turns red and swells. The comments say that you need to rub the tomato, but the tomato is not so easy to find. So, on the advice of experienced people, we rubbed the burnt places with sand. Helps. It doesn't hurt for long.
The hotel area is small. Lots of greenery, palm trees, grass, clean. There is only one outdoor pool with sea water, there are two more indoor pools.
We did not attend Thalasso therapy because for one day of procedures requested 150 dinars. We thought it was too expensive.

Shopping is distinguished by oriental features. We need to bargain))) For example, we bought a small handmade rug for 350 dinars, 30x30 knots per 1 cm² , the original price of this carpet was 550 dinars. Of course it's a little expensive, but such a souvenir))) There are three shopping points near the hotel. The first is a safari, in front of the hotel. The prices in this store are average. You can buy souvenirs, olive oil, natural shampoo, organic oil, silver. Silver prices are three times higher. So haggle))) To the right of the hotel there is a three-story Fola store, there are fixed prices for goods. There are souvenirs, bags, clothes. To the left of the hotel on the main road there is a shop, my husband called this shop a selmag. everything is like in a rural store))) In the village store you can buy T-shirts, textiles, souvenirs, cigarettes, magnets, etc. Cigarettes in Tunisia are full of g... but !!!
Excursions. We didn't go on excursions. We independently traveled to the Medina in Sousse (8 dinars for two there and back) and to the Medina in Monastir (20 dinars for two, there and back). Everyone who was on an excursion in the Sahara for 2 days praised this excursion very much. They showed photos. Really very beautiful.
Animation. Animators at the hotel work from morning until late at night. There are Russian speakers.
The contingent of vacationers. The hotel was mainly occupied by the French, but there were also Russians, Poles, Germans, Italians. There were no conflicts in the hotel. We met and talked with Poles Dorota and Krzyszek. Very cultured and kind people.
Output. The hotel clearly does not pull on the declared 4 stars, it is an economy class hotel for people without pretensions. On any vacation you need to go in a good mood, not to pay attention to the little things. Despite the excellent mood and food, we definitely will not return to this hotel! Good luck and stay positive!
