Rest in a hotel with the Pegasus operator

Written: 10 may 2010
Travel time: 2 — 9 may 2010
Who does the author recommend the hotel to?: For a relaxing holiday; For families with children
My husband and I were at the Siam Hotel at the beginning of May 2010. We went from the operator Pegasus. The hotel is ideal for a quiet holiday.

Let's start with the fact that the hotel is not located in the center of Belek, but in the village of Boaskent, and there are no pines, eucalyptus trees and golf courses known in Belek near the hotel. On the contrary, leaving the airport, you pass by these forests, and then go off-road for about 15-20 minutes.

The hotel is in Thai style, with an abundance of oriental figurines, elephants, Asian paintings and more. The compactness of the hotel immediately drew attention to itself, from the main entrance to the hotel to the beach it takes a couple of minutes to walk. There are Russian-speaking workers at the reception, the Pegasus guide visits the hotel in the evenings (Ayder)

THE ROOM is small, rather dark, the beds are very low, that is, you can say that the mattresses lie on the floor. It may be uncomfortable for older people to stand up. The minibar is free, but there is only water, juices and soda. Since this year there is no beer in the minibar. The safe is located in the closet.
The bath is quite small, the shower is behind glass, there is a window from the room to the bath, which simply closes with blinds, without a curtain. There are 2 Russian channels on TV - First and RTR Planet.

CHILDREN. There were quite a lot of families with kids in the hotel. On the territory of the hotel there is a children's paddling pool, a playground, a children's mini center where animation is entertained with children, there is a children's buffet in the evening. Slides are also turned on during the day (from 14 to 16), though they are for adults and older children, and there is a small slide in the paddling pool. There is even a clown baby shower. We can't say anything about general nutrition for children. In the restaurant you can take a high chair, they stand right next to the wall. And as you heard, you can also take a stroller in the hotel.

On the first floor (where the entrance to the hotel from the street and the reception) there is an excellent bar. It catches Wi Fi, there is a car rental office. The access to the pools and the restaurant is located on the floor below, at the zero level, there is also a bar there.
The hotel has very beautiful transparent elevators on each side of the corridor. Also on the ground level there are shops, a hairdresser, a photographer's office, an assembly hall and a spa center.

Photographers roam the hotel and offer their services. Photos are expensive - 5 euros apiece, provided that you take a few - discounts. However, the photos are not flushed to the disc, only the printed frames.

We did not buy anything in the hotel shops, though we went to the fur salon. It works like a showroom. If you want to buy something, they take it to their factory for free, where you can choose the model of the right size. In principle, you can buy in the hotel shop, but there is very little choice. There is also a very good jewelry store, where they can also take you to the large shopping center STORKS for free. At prices - if you bargain, even cheaper than on a shopping tour of Antalya.
In the assembly hall there are every evening children's discos after dinner, and evening shows with the participation of animation and the tourists themselves (announcements of the show can be seen in any hotel elevator). When we arrived, the shows were weak, the evening shows were entertained at the expense of the tourists themselves. But then several professional dancers from the CIS arrived, and very beautiful performances began with tango, break dance, dances in the style of Todes and Michael Jackson. In the animation, Russian-speaking girls, the chef's name is Ali. He speaks in my opinion in all languages of the world at once. Of course, each show ends with a common dance Aram Zam Zam and the song "I love Siam". In the evenings, instead of the show, live music sometimes sounded.

In the SPA center we bought a package of Turkish peeling ($50 for men Sultan and $60 for women Cleopatra). The procedure lasts at least an hour, in the hammam, first they rub you with a glove, doing peeling, then mud and foam massage.
Men make a mud mask on their face, women are rubbed completely. After such a peeling, a tan is perfectly laid down and in general the sensations are cool. The Russian girl Sasha works in the SPA center (she walks just around the pool and invites clients), and the masseurs are Turkish men and a girl from Kazakhstan (Gulite). To be honest, I liked everything, but after the procedure, they rather persistently offered to further purchase a massage package (at $ 60 per session), and it’s problematic to refuse, repeating “I’ll think about it” several times ...But you can actively bargain.

SHOPPING - We went on a shopping tour of Antalya (full day with a 2 hour yacht tour along the coast). A big plus for tourists from Belek - we had an almost individual tour (a small minibus, a group of 8 people) in contrast to the tourists from Kemer, whom we met here and there - huge crowded buses. The tour cost $15.

We were brought first to the ROM jewelry center, then to the OTTIMO leather and fur salon and the Textile store next to the Pegasus office. The jewelry center is very expensive and the sellers are intrusive, they barely fought back. Tiny gold earrings $80, for example, and the biggest negative is that there are no prices at all, i. e. sellers say whatever they want. Also, when paying with a credit card in a jewelry store, they require a copy of your passport. OTTIMO is a chic store, you don’t have to look at the price of things at all, because discounts are made by 2-3 times if you persuade, you should immediately ask for good discounts. A convenient option is free delivery to Moscow, I really liked the girl Ramil and the manager Mohammed, who speak excellent Russian. But I’ll write right away that the center is insanely expensive, and it’s not worth buying something just like that. You have to bargain a lot, beg to make the discount you need, so as not to regret the money spent later, because similar things can then be found cheaper in the city.
But I didn’t like the third store at all - a bunch of some unnecessary scarves, T-shirts and other crap that costs much more than in stores on the street near the hotel.

We went on an excursion with a guide Ismail. He comes from the Black Sea coast of Turkey, the guy is very friendly and told a lot of interesting things, in contrast to the contented gloomy guide Pegasus at the hotel.

NUTRITION. The hotel is ultra-all inclusive, so even if you see the indicated prices in a bar or restaurant, everything is free for us. It's just that Europeans also rest in the hotel (they have bracelets of a different color) according to the HB system, that is, only breakfast and dinner. Free freshly squeezed orange juice for breakfast (despite the quoted price of 2.5 euros). On the ground floor they make excellent cocktails, on the ground floor there is also a bar (where the most delicious cappuccino is). In the evening after 18 they give free sweets on the ground floor, and during the evening show - free popcorn (at 21-00).
In the bar next to the pool during the day snacks, there is a bar on the beach, from 14 to 16 free ice cream (although there is a price for freshly squeezed juice at breakfast). The choice of products is probably not very large, but there is always a variety of salads, meat and fish (moreover, it happens like lamb stew, stewed or boiled chicken, sometimes fried pieces of poultry, fried or stewed fish, kebab), there were even Japanese rolls, from fruits oranges, apples, bananas, grapefruits, a lot of all sorts of cakes and cakes. The bars have delicious Turkish tea and coffee.

In front of the hotel on the street there is a market, there is a small shop with vegetables and fruits. May was strawberry season. It should be taken no more than $ 2 per kilo.

The neighboring hotel is located very close, but we had a room that overlooked the courtyard of the hotel, this is the best! There are also a lot of abandoned unfinished houses on the street near the hotel.

On the other side of the hotel is something that looks like a swamp, where frogs croak around the clock. I also read that you can hear the clanking of dishes from the kitchen all day long.

The center of Belek or Antalya can only be reached by taxi. To Antalya, the cost of a taxi round trip is 90 dollars. True, if you need to go to a certain shopping center (for example, a jewelry store), then Pegasus provides a free Mercedes minibus with a personal guide who is waiting for you throughout your stay in the store. The stores are clearly cooperating with them, because they carry them to the same centers! So we went again to OTTIMO, because on excursions in one hour we simply did not have time to see everything.

There are vendors on the beach who offer water activities, bananas, scooters. At prices in the price list - 15 minutes on a jet ski $ 55, a tandem parachute for two $ 70 (maximum 130 kg for two), a parachute for one $ 50, a banana $ 15 from the snout (but a group of at least 5 people).
For example, my husband and I rode a water bike together for $ 40, as it turned out, 15 minutes is enough, the motorcycle is powerful and with low mileage.

SEA. The beach is sandy, sunbeds in 4 rows, under umbrellas. There are no problems with the seats, there are mattresses, but the sunbeds by the pools are much more comfortable. There are small pebbles at the entrance to the sea, the entrance is also quite rocky, it can be difficult to enter the water, but almost immediately deep, so it won’t take long to go.

The hotel is mixed, a lot of older Europeans. In the evenings there is a disco, but there are no noisy youth entertainments.

As for tips, it is important - as we found out, often the money left was taken not by the cleaning lady, but by the guy replenishing the minibar. There are no complaints about cleaning. Probably better to leave a tip on the table in the bathroom.

SWEETS. Before leaving on the way to the airport, Pegasus takes all tourists to the center of Sweets.

They also offer to buy them during shopping tours in Antalya (for example, to the ROM jewelry center). However, everything is very expensive there. It is best to buy them somewhere in the city, or even in shops on the street near the hotel will be cheaper. The normal price is an average pot-bellied jar of honey $ 6, a box of Turkish delight 250 grams $ 2, sherbet by weight is not more than $ 25 per kilo.

SOUVENIRS. Prices in stores and on the market differ at times. For example, when we went on an excursion to the jewelry center, there is also a souvenir shop there, which the guide highly recommended. However, as it turned out later, prices there are simply 3-4 times higher. In the center of Sorbet Sweets, where all tourists are brought on the way to the airport, prices are also higher than, say, in shops on the street near the hotel. Normal prices - magnets for $ 2, skullcap (fezze) $ 3-4. You can also buy Bosco costumes almost everywhere. Pretty well made, different colors - a good price of $90 for a suit.
