A good hotel with mediocre service - this is how you can briefly describe the hotel Marco Polo. Let's try to give a more detailed report about this hotel:

I must say right away that in general I was satisfied with the rest, and I will compare it with its neighbor Simena Sun Club, where my wife and I spent our honeymoon last year also in May. It is very convenient to compare them, because both are not only neighbors, but in general they are very similar (HV1 architecture concept, large territory, year of foundation, etc. ).
At one time in 1989, fate endowed the owners of these hotels with equal opportunities, allocating good plots of land by the sea (in Marco Polo it is even a little larger, at the moment) in the beautiful village of Camyuva (the village itself and the place are beautiful, pretty good coast in first of all, therefore, I recommend staying in other hotels).

But alas, they took advantage of this in different ways, Simena Sun Club has been holding the brand of one of the best hotels in the HV-1 class on the coast for many years, and Marco Polo for many years, due to management changes, judging by the reviews of two or three years ago, it was much worse. As far as I understand, two years ago the new management finally decided to fix the situation, and the feedback from last year and this year confirms this.
Let me explain why I didn’t go to Simena - it’s all just a matter of price……. . Once again, prices for Turkey have increased, a tour to Marco Polo for 11 nights (May 16-27) cost 1630 dollars, in the same time frame to Simena for 400-450 USD more. Apparently, this attracted not only me, because since the beginning of May the hotel has been packed to capacity + during the Youth Day Holiday (May 19), a conference was held with the participation of Turkish students and teachers.

Now for the points that I liked and disliked:

1. Accommodations / rooms:
Accommodation starts after 14:00.
The entire number of rooms consists of: rows of bungalows lined up in chains (2nd and 3rd floors), in the central part of the hotel to the left of the reception (when viewed from the sea) begin with numbers 1100.1200, 1300; behind them is a more chaotic chain of bungalows numbered 1400-1500. The most successful, in my opinion, are at 1200.1300, 1500. All these houses are built in rows, the doors go inside, until the next row is 4 meters, there are paving stones on the floor and when the maids push their carts or pass golf cars with staff, everything is of course audible, in general, soundproofing weak, I recommend the second floor. And the Garden building, a two-story building built in a chaotic semicircle, inside which there is a swimming pool, next to it there is a bar. If you are lucky with the number, let me remind you that the hotel is full, baksheesh or a gift (in the form of a vodka) does not guarantee you the desired room. For example, we were immediately settled in the Garden, room 2220, second floor.

Cons: a room without a balcony, only a window overlooking the road, it is still far from Garden all day round and round. Pros: a large room of squares 27-28, a couple more beds could fit in the room without any problems, very quiet throughout the day, you can only hear the singing of a mule at 5 in the morning, not critical for 3 minutes. After three nights they moved, to the first line number 1173, a smaller room, overlooking the table tennis tables, the balcony from it caught Wi-Fi in places. But noisy, I already wrote from the door, and from the balcony you can hear the whole evening animation even with the door closed. Repairs were made a couple of years ago, the furniture was all new, Veko plasma, plumbing in both rooms was in good condition.
Cons: the lack of slippers, it turns out they are over (because
I saw when I arrived in the maid's cart dirty), but they did not have time to bring new ones in 12 days - it's simply ridiculous; waffle blankets (ala pioneer camp), uncomfortable crumpled pillows, by the way, the beds are a little short for tall people, and all are single

2. Pools/Beach
There are two adult pools on the territory, one large in the central part, it also has two sections for children in the corners, two slides for adults and children. Another adult pool in the Garden and a children's pool on the territory of the children's club. Cons of the pools: the main one - there are no mattresses on the sunbeds, you had to take it from the beach; only the children's part of the main pool has paths, the tiles are slippery. The beach is long, the pier is good in the evenings, the illumination is beautiful. All sun loungers are under solid awnings, there are no individual umbrellas.
The beach itself is not bad, but there is no blue flag like Simena, what else I liked on the beach of Simena this year: wooden paths with railings at an angle into the sea like trapiks, and a children's plastic town under a canopy.

3. Restaurants/Food/Bars
Here, perhaps, there is parity between the hotels, each has its own raisins, there was less lamb here, but a good selection of fish and seafood. More fruit selection. The restaurant itself is open, even the roof with gaps when it started to rain was fun)))
In the main restaurant, the longest lines are for dinner, which is not surprising, because breakfast is from 7-11 o’clock, whoever gets up, lunch from 12-30 - many still prefer to be on the beach. But dinner from 19-00, from 18-00 already on the beach was not always comfortable,.

therefore, from 18-50, friendly ranks of vacationers were preparing to storm the Winter Palace))) I immediately recommend taking a table, you can certainly come by 20-00, there will be enough food, but some meat delicacies will most likely not be brought, their place will be taken by ordinary dishes. Three times a week, themed evenings: Mon (we had May 19 on Saturday for a holiday) - Turkish, Wednesday - Mediterranean (emphasis on fish, do not immediately leave in the middle of dinner, take a fotik surprise), Friday - Slavic (local cutlets according to kievski and borscht were present 
On the territory of 5 restaurants La Carte, all except Italian open-air. Were in Italian, Chinese (liked), Turkish (normal). From the beginning, the a la carte reservation was paid for everyone, then it began to change. The main bar by the pool, the choice of drinks is large, I'm not a big connoisseur but available (Red Label, JB, Absolut, Smirnoff, Beefeater, White Horse, etc. ).

4. Service/Cleaning
This is still a problem, and some try, for example, in a restaurant, clean up quickly, they themselves can bring you drinks, ask what ......But the cleaning of the rooms and the territory is lame, the room is cleaned poorly, the floors are dirty, when before leaving late in the evening they packed their beach bags the suitcase became especially noticeable (there are no slippers as before). The maid's room was left open all evening, come in and get whatever you want. The pool was littered with rubbish from early morning until 9-00.
By the way, an inconvenient scheme for changing towels, there is no separate place, the maids change in the room or then look for the maid to change it yourself.
4. Animation
I didn't like it. Animation can be divided into daytime which is almost non-existent, everything is done with a bummer, without passion, boring. And evening: the same guys, they all dance well, dance performances every evening, beautiful but monotonous to watch.
For all the time there was one invited group, the group performed an instrumental in the Spanish style, they sang - it was cool. And one evening there was a contest couple of the hotel, had a good laugh. After the show, the disco of the 80s until 23-30, cool, but why every evening the same songs are not clear, and then until 3 in the night, a disco indoors on the territory is a good feature, Marco's plus sign. On Sundays, all animations have a day off until the evening show - green melancholy, they even forgot to turn on the music.

Conclusion: for the amount we paid, the hotel is good, more expensive, I would personally look for another hotel if you really want to go to Turkey. At the end of June, this hotel or the same Simena for 11 days costs around 3000-3150 dollars, my personal opinion is that paying that kind of money for Turkey is crazy, for the same money you can plan your own tour to Thailand.
The hotel will appeal to those who travel to Turkey for the first time, who rested in hotels of a lower level, and those who adequately understand the difference between Amars and Marco in terms of money spent.
