Review of Palmiye side hotel
We lived there from June 9th to June 19th. 2016, tour operator Anex tour. To say the hotel is bad is an understatement. This is the worst hotel we have ever visited.
air travel
Never fly with Azur air. This is a total deception. Our flight from Kyiv was postponed 4 hours ahead - at 3-30 in the morning (that is, we did not sleep all night). The return flight was also moved 2 hours ahead. That is, the morning beach was also stolen from us. In addition, they do not feed anything on the Azur air plane - they give only water and tea. We left the hotel for Antalya airport at 10-20, and were in Kyiv at 18-30. And all this time without a crumb of food, we just starved from 7-30 in the morning, that is, after breakfast at the hotel. But on the way to the airport, we were taken to a souvenir shop with prices 4-5 times higher than in Side and kept there for about half an hour. Azur air is a very bad airline.
Hotel

This is a very very bad hotel. Probably the worst hotel in Side. We chose it carefully, because
we don’t like All inclusive food, but we prefer to eat in local restaurants (near the hotel there is a quite decent fish restaurant with dishes for 20 ...35 lire). Opposite the hotel is a cemetery.
A huge minus is the mosque next to the hotel, which yells at night, preventing you from sleeping.
This was the only HB catering hotel in Side that didn't get very bad reviews. It is a pity that the tourists were too lazy to write them - our legs would not be in it. This is not a hotel - this is complete crap. Avoid stopping there.
15-20 people lived in the hotel, most of them were elderly Germans, there were also Turks and two of us from Kyiv.
Number
It almost matches the description on the Anex tour website. In addition to the fact that in the first room (316) the air conditioner died on the second day, and the bed linen was very torn. Then we lived in room 317, where the air conditioner roars, the washbasin flows (there is a constant puddle on the floor) and the shower door is broken. The narrow entrance to the shower cabin is designed for very thin people.
Room cleaning almost daily. For 10 days, the bed was changed 1 time. Wi-Fi paid - 1 lira for every 15 minutes.
On the Astra 1 satellite, there is only one Russian-language TV channel "Present Time" No. 330 - it is not for everybody. "Football" - No. 125, "Air Force News" - No. 119.
Hotel rooms X01 - X09 (2-4 floors) overlook the pool and a noisy road, rooms X10-X18 - a more or less quiet street 1003.
Nutrition
It seems to be there, but it really isn't. There was not even tea for breakfast. Only chemical drinks and dubious coffee. The muesli at breakfast looked like it had already been eaten once. The "sausage" is just scary to look at. We have not seen the worst breakfast anywhere in the 49 hotels visited earlier.
Dinner

It's just a disaster. There is no buffet at all - eat what they bring to you without any choice. We were forced to eat that rubbish that someone did not eat for breakfast. Every day, we were "sucked in" with an unhealthy side dish of fried chips and a mixture of rice and vermicelli.
Also daily was mayonnaise with greens and a couple of spoons of salad (usually smelling bad) of tomatoes, cucumbers and greens. For 10 days there was never a fish, but a day later there were overcooked cutlets of unknown origin, but obviously without meat in them.
They also gave soup: tomato, pea, mushroom (only this one was not very peppery). For 10 days, there were 4 times fruit: small pieces of melon and watermelon and once 2 plums and 4 strawberries per person. If there is fruit for dinner, then there is no dessert, and vice versa. Dessert is loudly said, in reality it is two small cakes on a tea saucer, sometimes poured with molasses.
As a result, we bought juices, vegetables and fruits in nearby stores, more often in A-101.
Location
Near the hotel there is a supermarket Chagdash (a free bus to the beach leaves from the entrance). On the perpendicular street there is a Carrefour supermarket and Migros jet opposite it.
A-101 supermarket is located 100 meters towards the ruins of the old Side - it has the lowest prices. 200 m from A-101 towards the ruins (opposite Burger King) there is another Migros jet.
Beach
We went to two beaches: to the east (there is a free bus from the hotel from 9-30 to 11-00, but it's too late for us, and we went there on foot) and to the north.
The eastern beach of the Seaside restaurant is well equipped with free sunbeds and umbrellas for us, and in the area of the volleyball court it has a good entrance to the sea - you can swim right from the water's edge. The beach is sandy without stones in the water. It takes about 6 minutes to get there by bus. On foot, if you walk around the amphitheater on a good road - 35 minutes, if you go through the bus station (Otogan) and then along a dusty road, then walk 25 minutes. There is a free bus back from the beach from 15-30 to 17-00.

You can go to the north beach along 1003 street (exit from the hotel near the tattoo parlor), and then down past the Hera beach hotel along the shopping street.
It takes 10 minutes to go to the sea, but we walked further along the promenade to the section of the beach between the gendarmerie and the monument 8 to the President of Turkey (this is the beach of the Garden beach restaurant and neighboring ones). There is a fairly wide beach (more than 50 m) and you can always find a place on the sand between the sun loungers and the sea. Beach fight in the morning demanded 20 lire for sunbeds and an umbrella for two. In the evening you can lie on the sunbeds for free. Here the sea is shallower, but after passing 30-40 m, it is already possible to swim. There were no stones in the water, but there was often debris in the form of algae, bags, etc.
Both beaches often had waves.
trips
We did not go on excursions, because we have already been to Turkey many times. We were persuaded to go on a bus and yacht tour to the Manavgat waterfall (price 10 ...15 euros / person), but this tour is designed for the whole day (9-00 ...17-00), and we did not want to go on it.
We went to the Manavgat waterfall on our own. Dolmush in Manavgat stops in front of the hotel (travel 2.5 lira / person). Drive (about 15 min.
), you need to go to the LC Waikiki store (it is located opposite the De facto store, near which the dolmush stops), by the way, LC Waikiki has a good selection of clothes at reasonable prices. You need to go to the side where LC Waikiki is located and go a little forward to take a dolmus, next to the Manavgat waterfall (about 15 minutes drive). On this dolmush, on the front glass, there will be an inscription WASSERFALL on the left. Travel 2 lire / person.
Now the territory near the waterfall is being developed, and the entrance there is free. The waterfall itself was absolutely not impressive - low and with low water flow.
Back from Manavgat (stop next to LC Waikiki) you need to take a dolmush with the number 1 on the glass and ask the driver if he is driving past the Chagdash 7/24 supermarket (it is better known than the Palmiye hotel).

The dollar exchange rate in Manavgat (2.93 lire / dollar) is higher than in Side (2.8 lire / dollar)
Bazaars
In Side, on Tuesday, a market is held at the site at the intersection of 1515 Street and Sultan Mehmet Boulevard (it takes about 10 minutes to walk past the cemetery from the hotel).
On Saturdays, the market is held near the mosque (4 minutes walk from the hotel). In both bazaars, prices for sweets and spices are higher than in the Chagdash 7/24 supermarket near the hotel.
On Tuesday and Thursday, the market is also held in Manavgat. You need to go by dolmus to the De facto store (opposite LC Waikiki), then go ahead to the traffic lights. Turn right and walk 400 m. The bazaar is quite large, but the goods are very monotonous. Fruit prices are lower than in Side.
If you have any questions, write to sk_lora@ukr. net, we will answer.

Is it possible to go to this hotel? It is possible if you are a very unpretentious tourist and if for a hotel (with air and transfer) they will ask for no more than $ 500 for 7 days for two. Otherwise, look for other options.
By the way, a package tour to this hotel from Berlin for two for 7 n costs 450 euros. But Anex tour offers the same tour from Kyiv for 762-890 dollars. And despite the fact that the hotel is almost empty - greed is truly limitless.

Alexander and Larisa

Pros. Well equipped beach. Friendly staff.
Minuses.
Mosque nearby. Monotonous, fried, poor, unhealthy food without a choice of dishes. There is no mini bar. Inconvenient time transportation to and from the beach. Bad soundproofing.
