We stayed at the hotel in December 2020. Our room was on the second floor in the building to the right of the entrance.
There was no fridge or safe in the room when we checked in. At our request, they brought a refrigerator, but they promised to bring the safe the next day. We believed in it at the beginning. As a result, the safe was not brought to us either on the second or on the third day. It so happened that on the evening of the third day we were forced to leave the hotel for a few hours for dinner and leave the phone on the table (battery dead). After returning to the room, the phone was no longer on the table!! ! Stole. The manager of the Calvin hotel tried to convince us that we ourselves lost the phone somewhere and was not going to return anything. Our guide from Pegasus said that this is not the first case of theft in this hotel, and that neither the police nor the hotel staff will help us in such cases. ((( In a word, in this hotel you cannot leave anything in the rooms!
Unfortunately, we had no choice but to agree (((

By the way, the safe was brought to our room only on the fifth day, that is, 2 days after the theft! At the same time, we reminded the managers at the reception of this several times a day.

We had a double room, but for some reason there was only one sun lounger on the balcony, and even that one was broken. We asked to be replaced. The hotel staff promised to do it, but never did.

The next issue is the water in the room. Or rather, its complete absence. For 10 days of our stay at the hotel, the water in the tap ran out daily. Often for the first time it ended at about 15:00 and appeared only closer to 20:00. The second time it steadily ended after 1-2 o'clock in the morning and appeared somewhere closer to 7-8 o'clock in the morning. That is, there was no water at all at that time: neither hot nor cold. There was no way to take a shower, or brush your teeth, or, I beg your pardon, even go to the toilet.
As a result, it was necessary to collect water for these purposes in advance in a kettle or buy bottled water in the market.

Sometimes, in addition to water, there was not even electricity in the room.

Cleaning is a separate issue. Cleaned up every day. But from time to time after such cleaning we were not left towels. None! Not for the hands, not for the body. I had to go to the reception and explain to the Maasai sitting there (they were often on duty there) what a towel is, and that we still need to give it. There is no telephone in the room, so each such joint for us turned into a forced trip to another hotel building to the reception.

There was a TV in the room, but it did not show anything. I had to remind manager Calvin for 3 days in a row that it would be nice to do it after all. In the end, we got it fixed. The TV showed as many as 2 channels, but not for long. About a day, after which everything broke again. I didn't ask for it to be fixed again.

Breakfast at the hotel did not differ in variety: scrambled eggs, pancakes, fruits, 1-2 types of salads and sausages. We saw squid rings once. But there is a problem here too. Official breakfasts are held from 8 to 10 am. But if you come by 9 o'clock in the morning, then most likely you will not get anything from the main dishes! Kitchen workers are extremely reluctant to put food, even if you specifically ask them to do so.

The hotel does not have its own beach, but at the reception you can take beach towels with you. Every second towel was rusty. By the end of our stay at the hotel, we had already come to terms with this.

Wifi in the room was extremely unstable. Sometimes it was not even possible to send a message to Whatsup. I had to go down to the reception, where 5-6 people were already sitting for the same purpose.

In short, I would not recommend this hotel to anyone. I am sure that in Nungwi you can find something better for the same money. If only because it couldn't get any worse. (((
