The best hotel in Zanzibar
Five-StarMelia Hotel Zanzibar 5* is an all-inclusive luxury hotel on the east coast of Zanzibar. It is located on the very shore of the ocean on Kiwengwa beach. And from all the hotels that we managed to see during our trip, we can safely say that it is one of the best on this island.
Its territory is just huge and incredibly beautiful.
All guests are welcomed at this luxurious reception. The hotel staff is friendly and ready to fulfill any whim of the guests. There are few Russian tourists here, the hotel is expensive and designed mainly for wealthy Europeans. There are many of them here. And the Americans also rest here, which surprised us very much... Accordingly, the staff speaks English, they do not know Russian. Here is such a luxurious view from the reception, which creates the first impression of the hotel. The reception building houses a lobby bar, gift shop and billiards.
One of the restaurants is located in the central building, on the ground floor. They serve good breakfast and dinner. For dinner, they have a grill day, a pork day, they serve good fish and meat.
An entertainment program takes place in the evenings in the open area. And every day is different. Guests of Melia will sing and dance here and show the wonders of acrobatics.

The swimming pool of the Melia Hotel impresses with its beauty and luxury. It offers beautiful views of the ocean, and it seems that it simply merges into a single whole. At the edges it is shallow, in the middle the depth is 1.6 m. The pool looks at the ocean with the effect of infinity pool. Here you go into such a pool, and let the whole world wait...
And of course the pool bar. Limited drinks and food are available here. So if you sleep a lot, these dishes will be quite enough to compensate for an overslept breakfast.
The owners of the hotel did not forget about the little travelers. Near the pool there is a mini club for children. It works from 10:00 to 16:00. And your kids will always be busy with something interesting.
The visiting card and attraction of the Melia hotel is this restaurant on the water. It's called Jetty.
The restaurant prides itself on its excellent a la carte menu, combining world cultures with modern African flavors. In order to dine here, a table reservation is required at the reception. A stunning marina leads to it, which will take you to the very heart of the Indian Ocean.
The hotel has a huge well-groomed territory, on which there are several two-story buildings and a dozen bungalows. Any room at the Melia Hotel is simply gorgeous.
Guests are accommodated in spacious and comfortable rooms with a private terrace. There is a spacious comfortable bed with a mosquito net. All the same, do not forget that this is Africa. There is air conditioning, a huge TV, although you can only watch a couple of local channels on it. They clean often, sometimes they try to please with such flower arrangements... There are always drinks in the refrigerator that correspond to the stay plan. Even in the cheapest plan, the refrigerator is ready to welcome guests with water, cola, sprite and local beer (by the way, quite good). The room also has a safe and an iron. I was surprised by the layout of the room: almost the same area as the sleeping area, a bath complex. 2 sinks, 2 showers and bath plus WC. In general, this is a good solution for resort hotels. Indeed, after the beach, everyone can wash at the same time. Soap, shower gels, shampoos, enough towels - everything is there.
I would like to note that absolutely all the staff are very pleasant and seasoned. Everyone, from the gardener to the manager, always says hello, everyone is smiling, and there is a special atmosphere of comfort, silence and complete relaxation.
The hotel also offers accommodation in seven magnificent villas. Each has a private pool, a spacious terrace for sunbathing, stunning views of the Indian Ocean from the windows.
Guests of the Melia Zanzibar can use the hotel's own fitness center and tennis court.
The beach at the Melia Zanzibar hotel is far from the buildings, guests are delivered to it by electric cars and a local car dala-dala. It does not cause discomfort, shuttles go to Melia beach regularly, there are never crowds. During a five-seven minute trip around the Melia hotel, you can look at tropical nature, beehives, honey from which is sometimes given for breakfast, and private greenhouses. A trip to the beach is also a kind of walk...
There are always unofficial sellers of excursions on the beach. They offer guests excursions on the coastline, they can shout to tourists resting on sunbeds and ask them to come up, but they themselves will not approach. The beach, like the entire territory of the Melia hotel, is guarded and outsiders will not be allowed to the sunbeds. In general, the whole hotel is very well guarded. If you go to the farthest and darkest corner of the vast territory, there will certainly be a security guard who wants to make sure that the bracelet is present.
The Melia Hotel's beach is cleaned regularly. The tides are very pronounced. Several guards are constantly on duty on the beach. Locals are only allowed to walk along the coastline.
Another restaurant on the beach. I would like to note that the food in Melia is excellent. The hotel provides guests with a menu with a huge selection of dishes. Everyone will be happy, and fish lovers, and meat-eaters, and sweet tooth and vegetarians. Juices, white and red wine are always available. and stronger drinks.
Also on the beach there are many staged scenery for great photos, which will leave only great memories of this place forever....

In conclusion, we would like to say that we were impressed by the very high level of service! Guests are provided with everything for a wonderful holiday. The territory is buoyant with greenery and very stylishly decorated, very beautiful. Everything is in bloom, plants are watered everywhere, lawns are mowed. There is a sense of privacy. There were no complaints from tourists who rested here. Only positive impressions and memories remained.
