My husband and I spent 5 days in Alupka in August 2009, we stayed at the Royalta hotel (in the very center of Alupka), which I found and booked on the Internet. Our room (Southern Junior Suite) was very good, exactly like in the photos on the hotel website - large, new furniture, beautiful bathroom, spacious balcony overlooking the sea. Therefore, the completely Soviet service that was attached to this room simply amazed us. For 5 days the room was never cleaned even though we asked for it. The bed and towels were not changed, although they change linen on the 3rd day (obviously, the third did not come during our 5 days), you had to ask for toilet paper, take out the trash in the corridor yourself. Unfortunately, the people who opened the hotel have absolutely no idea how to manage this hotel. How long will rooms stay in good condition if they are not properly cleaned? This is the South! And we paid them exactly for this - for cleaning, attention. But here, as always, everyone is waiting for tips and fawning. But you have to do something for a tip! Breakfast was included in the price of the room, was meager, and was served with disgruntled faces. The only place where you could eat normally in Alupka is the Karamba bar-restaurant, where both the service and the food are excellent. It is a pity that, having such wonderful resources, people do not know how to manage them. Probably soon the people will understand that it is better and cheaper to rest in Turkey and Egypt than in the Crimea.
