Dear site visitors!
Just a week ago, my family and I (me, husband, son 5 years old) returned from Alupka, the Royalta hotel. We were completely delighted with the rest, we plan to repeat it this autumn and, of course, in the same hotel.
First, about Alupka in general:
Pros of rest in Alupka:
- THE PARK! Actually, the love for Vorontsovsky Park prompted us to go to Alupka this year. The beauty of this park cannot be described in words or photographs - it must be seen! You can walk around the park until late - it's not scary, no one is particularly rowdy : ). In addition, the palace and the park are guarded by the police.
- very clean sea. even in season.
- a relatively small number of people, not very noisy (except that in the evenings a couple of discos yell: 0).
- a relatively good transport interchange (not Yalta, of course, but you can get to Yalta and Sevastopol without any problems, I'm not talking about Miskhor and Simeiz). you can travel and see the local sights!

- good climate. we were at a time when it was raining in Ukraine, Simferopol was flooded, and in Alupka it rained only a couple of times: they look like terrible clouds over Ai-Petri, disperse partly to Yalta, partly to Sevastopol, but we don’t drip ! True, if the clouds have already crossed Ai-Petri, we get a good downpour, but not for long : ).
Cons of rest in Alupka:
- lack of sidewalks with rabid carriers. sooo tiring!
- the aforementioned pair of discos - after all, you want to relax from the city noise (Yalta is not enough for them to make noise! )
- high prices for everything. This, of course, is a paradox, but we have Crimean onions and Crimean wines, as well as fruits, which are cheaper than in Crimea! about the rest, I generally keep quiet!
- the city is located on a mountainside, so there are practically no horizontal roads - everything is uphill. as a result, you need to live either by the sea or by the park (if you are not a rock climber or a mountain tourist, do not save on this, otherwise you will ruin your vacation! I think it’s better to eat less, but live closer : ) I still remember the sayings about "this damn rest" of one mother, who pearled uphill under one arm of a child, and under the other - a stroller). separately about complaints about going up and down through the park: they are not difficult if you follow one rule: never climb stairs! walk only on the terraces, bypassing the stairs (there are such everywhere). such a rise does not tire at all, since the terraces are smooth, but it is perceived as a walk through a beautiful park. Tired - sit down on a bench, a tree or a stone, otherwise you will lose 5 minutes - so you are on vacation! where are you in a hurry?
- small and, accordingly, clogged pebble beaches. Except early morning (before 7.00) and evening (about half an hour after the sun leaves the beach). During a storm, the city beach disappears under the waves almost completely! True, there are also paid beaches (I don’t remember the price), but we didn’t use them, but acted according to the scheme: swimming in the morning and in the evening, they came, swam, dried up, swam, and left. Special slippers for swimming save from prickly pebbles. Bought these for my son and problem solved!

- the possibility of such a "small" problem as lower currents with cold water in summer. example: we swim in the evening, the water is a fairy tale (24 ° C). storm in the morning. by the next evening the sea temperature is 12°C - and so on for 3-10 days. By the way, this is a problem not only of Alupka, but of the entire Crimea (especially the South Coast).
Now, actually, about Royale.
Pros:
- location - on one side - city center - all shops, cafes, banks, post office, mini-markets, tour desks within 1-5 minutes walk, bus station within 10 minutes walk. very comfortably! . on the other hand - literally 1-2 minutes of descent down (not very steep by Alupka's standards! ) - and you are at the entrance to the Vorontsov Palace.
- the rooftop pool is a huge plus given the crowded beaches and the possibility of downstreams! open from 7:00 to 22:00, by the pool - a place for sunbathing with sun loungers. There is also a tennis table and an exercise machine.
- your cafe. very good. we, frankly, were content with standard breakfasts, but there were people who ordered something else with this money. lunches and dinners can be ordered in advance for a while, or you can, as in a regular cafe: they came, ordered, waited, ate. prices are acceptable. breakfast cost 30 UAH included: tea / coffee of your choice and in unlimited quantities (there were sugar, tea bags, a can of coffee and a thermos of boiling water on the tables), bread, butter, sausage or cheese and the main course (oatmeal, or cottage cheese and yogurt , or pancakes, or scrambled eggs, or dumplings, or noodles with sausage - well, that sort of thing) when we had to go on an excursion, we were served half an hour earlier without any problems, upon prior request.
- good room service. once every 3 days, without talking and asking, they changed the bed and towels, except for the case when the change of linen fell on the day before departure - then they didn’t change it. but the fact that we used underwear for not 3, but 4 days did not spoil our mood : ). cleaning was carried out on request (through the sign "Please clean").
garbage was thrown out into the corridor every day, and in return for the door handle, the maid hung a fresh bag. In general, the service is unobtrusive.

- pleasant and polite staff. very good manager. I needed documents about accommodation in a hotel - they did it without problems, and in the form in which I needed it.
- The "stuffing" of the room is beyond praise. we lived in a junior suite - partly in the north, partly in the south. both rooms included: a well-equipped bathroom with a bathtub, any water - around the clock, a hairdryer, a large closet, a shoe rack, a TV, bedside tables, air conditioning, a refrigerator, a double bed (more precisely, two one and a half beds), a sofa bed, dishes (including board, knife, corkscrew), electric kettle. if something broke or was missing, they immediately repaired it or gave it - you only had to ask.
Cons - there were no cons spoiling the rest, but still:
- from the north side in the evening it is noisy due to discos. quiet from the south.
- the pool, unfortunately, is not heated, so the temperature of the water in it is highly dependent on the weather. but during our stay (2nd half of June) it was warm all the time. in addition, it is located well, so it heats up quickly. for 13 days he did not work for 1.5 days for technical reasons: not fatal, but unpleasant. during the day the pool has a break from 13:00 to 16:00, but this is easy to adjust to. and another minus for the pool: the almost complete absence of shade. although, I repeat: the pool is cool!
- the hotel is very popular, so the rooms in it must be booked in advance. we ordered a month in advance, and we got only junior suites, although we originally wanted a standard. accommodation turned out to be almost 1.5 times more expensive than planned - we had to save on other things.
- early departure. the room must be vacated at 10 am (if only at 12. . . ) - so on the day of departure, wake up at 7 am! but no one kicks you out of the hotel, you can leave your things at the reception and sour in the pool until the evening. they even offered to give towels and open the shower if needed.
Well, I'm finally ending my long review. I repeat: the rest was a success!
I hope it will be useful to someone: when choosing a place to stay, I myself was guided by the reviews of other people.

Enjoy your holiday and good luck!
Sincerely,
Elena.
