Good old Crimea

I want to tell you about a wonderful holiday in July 2010 in the Crimea. Traveled with a 6 year old child.
I chose a hotel on the Internet, in accordance with the desire to relax calmly, against the backdrop of beautiful Crimean nature, with good comfort and away from noisy pop places. I have long wanted to visit the area of Foros, the Blue Bay, where, in my opinion, the most picturesque places in Crimea, the cleanest sea, the most beautiful rocks and much calmer than in Yalta, Alushta. And I was not mistaken. The small village of Katsiveli is located between Foros, Ponizovka and Simeiz, a 10-minute walk from the largest water park in Crimea. Transportation from Yalta - minibuses running every 10 minutes.
Therefore, there were no problems with movement along Big Yalta.

The village is still developing as a resort, the infrastructure consists of several grocery stores (with a good supply, assortment and fresh quality products), vegetable stalls, several cafes and the structure of the Katsiveli House of Creativity of Scientists, famous in Soviet times. I immediately draw attention to the lack of pharmacies, so take a first-aid kit with you, I had to leave a sick child and go to Simeiz to a pharmacy ...
There were several beaches that we went to, they are free (but not littered, oddly enough). One was 5-7 minutes walk from our hotel in the Blue Bay itself, there were often good waves, which the children like so much. Sometimes we visited the beach in the already open sea, which could be reached through the House of Creativity. This is for those who like walking, because it was necessary to go down and up through the park and go to the free beaches along the promenade for another 10 minutes.
The nearest beach of the House of Creativity worked only with passes. Patience and efforts were rewarded by the fact that you get to large pebble beaches with a minimum of people, and just crystal clear water, as a rule, the sea is calm here. There are summer beer cafes, rental of masks, mattresses. A good cafe on the beach of the House of Creativity: service, coffee, desserts, cuisine, an assortment of Crimean wines, reasonable prices. In the evening there was live music and you could spend the whole evening by the sea. This is perhaps the only cultural place for the evening. In the center of the village there is also a modern cafe with very good cuisine, design, service. Grilled dishes are excellent, choice of fish; music and some events in the evening (we didn’t go late, but we saw how tables were being booked). It seems that there is no more extended program in Katsiveli. This is clearly not a youth place, there are no discos and other entertainment. In the evenings, perhaps, someone will be bored.
We sometimes bought evening excursions and had fun in this way. I liked "Evening Foros" very much, we drove for 4 hours in a comfortable mini-bus through the mountains, through the valleys, climbed Baydary, to the Foro church, ate pasties at the most extreme point of Big Yalta. I did not like the excursion to the Observatory: there were many groups, I had to listen to the lecture of the scientist for more than 2 hours standing, the children were tired, some were crying, some were just whining. Then we watched a film about the Hubble telescope for another hour (it was difficult to fight sleep, especially for children), and when we were allowed to the telescope, we were given 10 minutes for the whole group to once for a moment look at the cluster of stars. My kinder did not want to look in protest, although he was always very interested in them ...We returned home after 12 o'clock at night, the village was all in darkness, there was no street lighting ...So I focus your attention: there are almost no evening entertainment in Katsiveli.

Thank God, our hotel had its own "Spanish" patio and cafe, where in a good company you can organize a feast for adults, and children in their big company (in Katsiveli, in general, almost everyone relaxes with children) could play in their cozy children's corner, here same, before your eyes (there were toys). The rooms had satellite TV, so it was quite possible to pass the evening watching a movie. In the same cafe there was an excellent film library of Soviet films ...We lived in a standard room on the 1st floor (it was very convenient to let the child walk alone in the courtyard), the room itself and the hotel service were beyond praise. My son and I have previously visited 5 seas, in several countries, there is something to compare with. Design, new furniture, air conditioning, always hot water, daily cleaning - everything is on the level. Good soundproof walls. Meals - in a cafe at the hotel, breakfast and lunch were included in the price.
The food is varied, without frills (no one carved peacocks from vegetables, as in Turkey), closer to ordinary homemade food. It was nice when after the water park in the evening we were offered our hot lunch which we missed. You can imagine what an appetite after the water park ...Since I touched on the topic of the water park: we were in Turkey, Egypt and Croatia in water parks, but we liked the Blue Bay the most! There are many children's slides, it is convenient to watch children under awnings on soft sunbeds, the slides for adults are the most diverse, everything is controlled by a large number of attendants. Good cafes, a water bar with dancing in the water and crazy cocktails, our favorite Celentano pizzeria, where the menu is familiar and there are no surprises, as an economy option - just donuts with coffee prepared for you. Large clean service area (showers, toilets, storage, beach goods stores). Super vacation, in a word! Yes, even 10 minutes from the hotel!
We are very grateful to the administrator Nadezhda and all the staff for a calm, comfortable stay, a sea of fresh flowers on the territory of the hotel, which were so pleasing to the eye ...So I advise those who truly love the Crimean nature, the purest sea, the sounds of cicadas in parks, herbal aromas on the top of Ai-Petri, almond nuts and Crimean wine, peaches just picked from a tree, figs, grapes, fresh sea air with eucalyptus phytocides - we recommend Katsiveli, Mustang mini-hotel:
