We rested at the Yalta-Intourist hotel in June of this (2014) year. Mixed impressions.
First, about booking. We had it early, so we paid for all the accommodation in full back in March. Moreover, it was impossible to pay via the Internet, you had to go to some uncommon bank, open an account there, etc. Very inconvenient, I hope they do something about it.
Due to personal circumstances, we had to leave a day early. The day before, we described the situation to the young man at the reception, and he said that we could transfer the cost of this day to the deposit to my parents, who were supposed to come to the same hotel in a week. As a result, on the day of departure, we were refused this (like, the young man lied to you), the money was gone. It was very unpleasant!

Secondly, a beautiful large sea water pool out of 7 days of our stay, 2 days worked on a reduced schedule (there were some closed events), and 1 day did not work at all. Despite the fact that these days the weather was cloudy and cool, and it was difficult to swim in the sea.
Thirdly, there were no beach towels in this 4 star hotel! We had to buy a towel for 1100 rubles in the hotel shop, because. we are used to the fact that everywhere (even in the Crimea) there are towels in hotels of this level. Many guests dragged white towels from their rooms to the beach. At the same time, towels were still issued in the pool.
Fourthly, the turnstiles on the beach did not work. Accordingly, as soon as the sun peeped out, vacationers from all the surrounding mini-hotels and private houses gathered there, and this despite the fact that Intourist itself is rather big. At 11:00 it was no longer that there was nowhere to put a sun lounger, it was just that there was nowhere to put clothes.
Fifth, repair! On the territory of a pile of gravel, barrier tapes are periodically found. Some floors are also under renovation. You sit in a restaurant, a drill screechs, etc. Judging by the reviews, this is not the first year.
But there were certainly advantages too. The room is small (standard superior), but renovated, furniture, plumbing - everything is decent. Breakfast was a normal buffet, they came last, but there was always enough. Very good playground. It's nice that there is a zoo and a planetarium. Well thought out, the child was delighted. We ate mainly in the Ukrainian and Italian restaurants on the ground floor, it suited us. Friendly staff: maids and waiters. Nearby is a large (albeit neglected) Massandra park for walking. Wi-Fi in the room catches very bad, everyone is sitting in the lobby. It is better to call a taxi from the room by phone, at the porch it is twice as expensive.
