Slavsko, glory!
Some are waiting for Saturday-Sunday to lie on the couch, others - to go to the country, and there is a category of inquisitive people - these are those who are interested in learning new things and going everywhere. In a word, travelers.
I am a traveler, as I am waiting for the weekend with thoughts when? and where?
Thanks for having the same friends. You don't have to think long. This weekend we received an invitation to the closing of the artistic plein air in the town of Slavsko. Tickets, backpack, Friday, train station and road, night on the road, Saturday morning already in Slavsko.
When you get off the train, you immediately breathe in the freshest air. Mountain air cannot be compared with anything! He is said to be drunk. In this state, I remembered that they left Kyiv at a temperature of 38 degrees. Plus cars, plus asphalt. And here is a region that is distinguished by ideal ecological cleanliness, because within a radius of about 100 km. there is not a single industrial enterprise with their hazardous waste.
And here is the punctual meeting, in the car and less than 10 minutes have passed - we are on the spot. Hello, the Arefyevs' estate! Arefievas Dima and Oksana are the owners of a wonderful building in every sense. The building itself was built taking into account the local climatic and geographical location. Cozy and comfortable inside, and most importantly for the visitor, the spiritual comfort with which they meet everyone. .
Everything, all the formalities are over, and our group quietly enters the plein air mode.
After all, what is plein air? Without a doubt, the word is French and translates as "in the open air. " A means - a picturesque technique of depicting objects in natural light and in natural conditions. The initiators of holding art plein airs in Slavsko
became the Fund for the Support of Culture and Sports "Maxim", created by Dima and Oksana Arefievs, under the patronage of the Lviv National Academy of Arts and Lviv artists Orest Kosar, Orest Manyuk and Viktor Stognut.
And a little more history. We arrived at the closing of the 6th plein air. Everything shows that there are already established traditions, a circle of participants. And, despite this, the geography of the artists themselves is developing. This year artists from Israel joined.
And so, moving from one artist to another, and there are 15 of them, we will learn everything about this interesting event. The plein air itself lasts two weeks. Artists went to work in the vicinity of the town. The very nature of the Carpathians with its unique mountain landscapes, heady air, healing mineral springs, waterfalls - all this only contributes to the creative process.
What about history? The first mention of these places dates back to 1015, although the historical date of the foundation of Slavsko is considered to be 1483. The name itself comes from the word "glorious", which was used to call the warriors of Prince Svyatoslav, who were noted for their courage in campaigns, and after the death of the prince settled here. These lands were part of the Galicia-Volyn principality, and after its fall into the Grand Duchy of Lithuania. Subsequently, this land passes to Poland. The settlement belonged to the Pototskys, then to Evgeny Konsky. The next owner was the Austro-Hungarian Baron Gredel. They say that his palaces are still preserved in the towns of Skole and Maidan. Definitely a must come and visit.
This corner of the earth is covered with legends of antiquity. Not far away, Prince Svyatoslav, the son of Vladimir the Great, who died in these places in 1015, is buried, and the spirit of the legendary Oleksa Dovbush walks through the mountains. And in front of our estate stands Mount Zakhar Berkut. This is the land that inspires artists to work!
Artists also have a tradition of organizing master classes for children. They tell and show. Yes, and I found out interesting that thanks to the open air, paints began to be produced in tubes. Prior to this, artists prepared paints in their workshops themselves.
To such an extent, all this captures that there are more and more children who want to participate in master classes. And no doubt there are many talented children. Their works, along with the works of artists, are exhibited in the halls and delight the audience.
And about the halls. At the end of the plein air, the artists' works can be seen and bought, and they are put up for sale in the Maxim Gallery right opposite the station on the second floor.
All those who come to these parts have the opportunity to purchase a picturesque picture as a keepsake of the resort. The painting is a wonderful memory of your holiday in Slavsko! As Horace said: "A picture is a poem without words. "
We walked through the flowering Carpathian Mountains, and in winter Slavsko becomes the center of winter recreation. For more than a decade, the city has been the Mecca of skiers. Walking around the town, we came across at almost every step equipment rental points. So in winter we will definitely come back for skiing . .
Since the end of the last century, Slavsko received the official status of a resort town.
It was such an interesting and informative weekend trip.
Hail, SLAVSKO!
