Fatih Mosque in Durres

Xhamia Fatih, Conqueror's Mosque,Mechet Futih
Albania, Durres
The Fatih Mosque in the city of Durres is one of the main Muslim shrines in Albania. Fatih was built in the early 16th century and named after the Ottoman sultan Mehmet the Conqueror (Fatih). It became the first religious building in Albania during the Ottoman Empire. During the reign of Enver Hoxha, the mosque was closed. Thanks to its unique architecture, the communist authorities nevertheless decided not to destroy Fatih, but to preserve it as a cultural monument. In the early 90s of the last century, the mosque was restored, and a new one was erected on the site of the destroyed minaret.

Well-groomed, restored mosque. I am glad that the Albanians are not obsessed with religion, as is the case with other Muslims. Whoever wants, he believes, who does not want - can just look like, no one will say anything. Girls in short clothes can enter safely. Albanians are so tired of Hoxha's bans that they are now reasonably loyal to everyone.
