Vacation in Umm Al Quwain Beach in May 2008.
I partially agree with the previous reviews, but still I want to make a number of personal observations.
1. About the Emirate of Umm Al Quwain. This is really the most provincial of the emirates, one might say a little rural. In travel agencies it is called "distant", along with Ras Al Khaimah; Fujairah and Abu Dhabi. I do not agree with this, we drove from Dubai airport to the hotel a little less than an hour, back 40 minutes. It would be more correct to call it medium distance. The capital of the Emirate is of the same name, on its outskirts there is a hotel. To the network supermarket LULU - by taxi 5 Dirhams and 5 minutes (rate 1 $ = 3.66 AED). The city has a water park (one of two in the Emirates, the second in Dubai), by taxi 10-15 minutes. And in the city there is a historical museum - by taxi 10-15 minutes. There is also a tourist center from where excursions called “Crab Hunting” are organized.

2. About transfer. There is no group transfer to the hotel, we were offered an individual one, but they advised us to get there ourselves, much cheaper. A private transfer means that you are escorted at the airport to a taxi that has already been paid for. If you pay for it, then it's $ 90. We decided to get on our own and did the right thing, there are no problems with a taxi at the airport, the payment by the meter is 120 Dirhams (rate 1 $ = 3.66), that is, 33 dollars, feel the difference.
3. About the hotel. A hotel for total privacy. One-story rooms, a small number of people and the singing of birds are conducive to this. The sea is good, the pool is comfortable, there are always free sunbeds by the pool (except Friday and Saturday - more on that below) and by the sea. Double rooms are the standard, there are more. Service is good, all requests are fulfilled, cleaning is good. The territory is small (for some reason it is called large in the descriptions of the hotel). In general, it looks like a vacation in the country.
4. About the rooms. There is a balcony, hair dryer, large TV in the living room, there is also a sofa and armchairs, plus two coffee tables and a large refrigerator + sideboard. The bedroom has a desk and a coffee table. Upon arrival, as a gift in the refrigerator - mineral water, cola, sprite and beer. On the table is a basket of fruit and, for some reason, chips.
5. About food - the food is good, for those with children, and there are most of them - there are always two types of porridge for breakfast, including oatmeal.
6. About the sea - there are many crabs and live shellfish in the sea. Empty shells of different shapes and colors are also thrown ashore by a wave, expanse for children. The sea near the coast is shallow and very suitable for children.
7. About children. The hotel is best suited for parents with small children, according to the principle of rest in the country, as there is no children's town, there is no separate children's pool (mostly there is a paddling pool), there is no children's club. In general, a child can be well fed and continue to mess with him using his own ingenuity and the sea with a paddling pool.

13. About the carrier - S7 (Siberia) IL-86. The impression is neutral, however, they made a crush on the check-in on the return flight at Dubai airport and delayed the flight for 1 hour, the captain of the ship apologized for the delay and said that it was due to ……. late passengers! He kept silent about the fact that the passengers were late because of the ugly organized check-in.
In general, 80 percent is good, 20 percent is good for anyone.
