We have just returned from Austria and while I am writing fresh impressions )))))))))))))), maybe I will help someone with the right choice.
In general, we had quite pleasant impressions.
Hotel PAWLIK is located on the outskirts of Bad Gastein. It is very quiet around, not far from the promenade where you can feed the squirrels. There are many empty new chalets, but in the evening the windows in them are highlighted in different colors.
The hotel is 5-storey, the lower floor is a service room - a ski storage room, a sauna, a bar, a laundry, etc. The building is almost new, not "shabby")))), quite modern equipment in the bathrooms. The hotel is panoramic, so you can enjoy the mountain scenery and meet the sunrise.
The room was small but cozy, which was nice - it was room 102, its uniqueness is that there was Wi-Fi (because the room is located directly above the reception), and Wi-Fi only works in the lobby and restaurant.

I was pleased that in the morning and in the evening there is a shuttle to the Stubnerkogel ski lift (every 15 minutes, you need to sign up for the morning). There are 4 bus stops to the center (the bus runs once an hour and only from 9 am to 6 pm) or 25 minutes at a leisurely pace through the mountains - along the promenade.
The staff is friendly, the manager and waitresses are from Latvia, so everyone speaks Russian. The hotel was inhabited by Russians, Latvians and Germans. The territory of the hotel is well-groomed, the parking lot was cleared of snow.
Traditional European breakfasts, muesli, yogurt, cuts (sausage, cheese), boiled eggs - there were no changes in 7 days, lunch started at 15-30 - but it’s more like a snack before dinner (one dish (that’s soup, pilaf, sausages or pasta navy + tea, coffee), from 17-00 - Austrian - beer and wine - everything is very tasty, hearty dinners - Soup, the second - one main course (meat, poultry, fish) plus a side dish and a vegetarian dish and a few salads. Dinner and lunch were never repeated in a week. I liked the quality of the products. In the evening, dessert is always very tasty.
There are very few shops in the town - one Spar and only 2 souvenir shops. The nearest cafe is 300-400 meters away - it works from 12 to 19. And so everything is in the center.
The hotel has a small sauna with a shower (dacha option) daily from 16 to 20, so after skiing you can warm up your exhausted body well. You can warm up better in the terms, which are located right at the station and the ski lift.
Information for skiers and snowboarders: the nearest ski areas are Graukogel, Angertal, Sportgastein. The first is located next to the hotel, but it is in little demand, although it is not bad there, quiet and calm. Sportgastein is good in sunny, calm weather. On such days, you can’t get into the ski bus, many people go there. Although, in my opinion, there is nothing extraordinary there, only the height is a little higher - 2650 m. I personally liked the Angertal zone. The mountains are not high - 2250 m, 2050 m, but there are many slopes, lifts, cafes of different complexity and length. During the day, you can easily ride until you lose your pulse.
