Here I want to talk about holidays in Bosnia and the city of Neum. Most of our tourists have not even heard of such a resort as Neum and have not heard anything about this country after the war. Maybe my story will seem interesting and useful to someone, or maybe even someone will dare to go there.

So. The state of Bosnia and Herzegovina is today part of the old Yugoslavia and borders Croatia, Serbia and Montenegro. It has its own currency - the Bosnian mark, exchanged against the euro as 2:1, that is, for 1 euro they give about 2 Bosnian marks. Pretty calm and quiet mountainous country, lives off agriculture. It is not very attractive for tourism, although it is still worth going there, there is something to see. Lots of old fortresses and monasteries, lots of greenery and stunning mountains and valleys! You can enter here from the territory of neighboring countries (visas are not required) or fly directly to Sarajevo. You can travel around this country by car or buses, auto communication and roads are good here, and the cost of tickets is scanty (from 2 marks and above). You can communicate in Croatian, Serbian or Montenegrin (the difference between them is not significant for us), or in Russian, but understanding will be difficult. Therefore, I advise you to read the phrasebook before the trip.

This country goes to the Adriatic Sea through Croatian territory, and the length of this very coast is only about 25 kilometers. That is, Bosnia simply has access to the sea and that's it, talking about the coast of this country would be an exaggeration. However, it is here that the wonderful city of Neum is located, which stands out against the background of all other coastal cities of the Adriatic. This is a small quiet European town with cheap hotels and a small number of vacationers. For hotel lovers, this is a paradise! Prices here are much lower than in neighboring countries, and people are calmer and more friendly. The city has supermarkets and 'tourist information' where you can find everything you need, including bus schedules. To pay in stores, it is better to have a debit bank card with you, as it will not be easy to find a bank branch. Although money can be changed at the hotel. The hotel of the same name is located in a quiet bay right on the seashore. Neum is a fairly large and decent hotel with good food and service, but most importantly with a charming sea view, although other hotels are no worse. The only drawback of this city is the lack of its own bus station (as well as a taxi), so you can only leave from there on passing buses. There are many ways to get to Neum. But if the purpose of the trip is only a beach holiday, then it is better to fly not to Bosnia, but to Croatia (a neighboring state). The fact is that the nearest airports are located on the territory of Croatia, near the cities of Split and Dubrovnik. It was here that Bosnia received its outlet to the Adriatic Sea. Both mentioned cities are quite large, they have their own stations and seaports, as well as a developed taxi service. So getting from them to Neum will not be difficult. In addition, they have something to see, many historical monuments, etc. Crossing the Bosnian border does not cause any problems, visas are not required and no stamps are put in the passport. Moreover, they are allowed to go there with any passports, even if the validity period ends. So travel well!
