We traveled as a family with a child (3.5 years). The trip came about almost by accident. We often visit Shanghai for work, but this time we had to stay in China for two weeks. So, in order not to sit on holidays (and May 1 is also a holiday for the Chinese) in Shanghai, fly to Hainan. The room was booked for us by our Chinese friends in their Chinese travel agency, so it turned out to be two times cheaper than in Moscow.
For people coming to China for the first time, the number of Chinese is, of course, astounding. But for us after Shanghai, everything was pretty familiar. Our room was on the eighth floor, quite large. Internet - wi-fi (maybe not relevant for someone). So you can talk on Skype quite calmly, and save money on your phone.
We took only breakfasts. Quite normal breakfasts. My daughter ate dumplings and pasta with sausages, yogurt. And for adults, you could eat different Chinese food.

The beach is public, but the sunbeds are from the hotel, and the guards constantly chased strangers away if they sat on the sunbeds. Beach towels - in the room. The sand is very small. The water is clear, no algae. Only the wave was almost constant, the child will not go into the water for a long time. But the surfers are expanse.
The hotel has a swimming pool with a children's section, and you can swim there.
At the expense of food. I do not understand those people who come to another country and look for Russian cuisine there. Moreover, Chinese cuisine is very diverse and very tasty. Especially there is a fish restaurant, which I highly recommend going to. There are giant shrimp! It is better to order them in sauce. And we ate different fish, but we liked the red snapper more and it was steamed. Our child ate it with pleasure. Also delicious cucumbers marinated in soy sauce, stewed eggplant, Chinese cabbage in a pan, stewed meat. We took soup too, for my daughter. Just keep in mind that they serve soup at the end, and a portion can be designed for eight people. But soup is inexpensive. For dinner, we got 300-350 yuan with beer.
There is also a restaurant there, it seems the name is associated with the Dragon. Also good. In general, choose a restaurant where there are a lot of Chinese. They certainly know what is best. ! Well, not all the same shish kebab with tomatoes is!
In terms of price-quality ratio, a normal stay. We are going to fly there next year, otherwise we recently flew to the Emirates - we were very upset, everything has changed for the worse over the past 10 years.
