And in August 2009, I was vacationing in Beijing with my friends. In general, the city made a very good impression, but the hotel in which we stayed "Tai Mu Shan International Business Hotel" and which was listed as 4 * in all respects, left a very negative impression. Although, when we entered the hotel lobby, we really liked the design, there were flowers around, very beautiful paintings hung, there was something like a cafe where you can relax and drink coffee and cakes, the girls at the reception are very friendly and speak English. At first glance, everything seemed to be fine in hotel rooms, but this is only at first glance. In fact, everything turned out to be much worse. We lived in the hotel for five days, during which time the room was never cleaned, towels were never changed, the toilet was constantly breaking down, no one responded to our requests to repair it. Some kind of grandiose construction is underway outside the window, the Chinese began work very early, at about 5 o'clock in the morning and sawed, planed, and pounded something until late in the evening. No plastic windows saved from the noise, so I also had to wake up at 5 o'clock in the morning. The last straw was the discovery of a huge cockroach in the room, which calmly walked around the products left on the table, since there are no refrigerators in the rooms. We called the hotel administrator, who, when she saw the cockroach, was very apologetic, saying that this would not happen again, after which she forced the maid to remove it. The food at this hotel deserves special attention. We had only breakfast - buffet, from 7 to 9 o'clock in the morning. The food was disgusting, there were only about five dishes to choose from, of which only scrambled eggs and toast were edible. All the food was cold, tea and coffee too, and only one tea bag was placed on a two-liter jug of warm water. Arriving for breakfast at 8 o'clock, there was already little left of food, we had to have breakfast with toast and very diluted juice. Also during breakfast there were not enough glasses and forks, and no one reacted to our requests to bring them. And the location of the hotel is generally a separate conversation. It seems to be located in the center of Beijing, on one of the streets, just 1 km. from the station, but none of the taxi drivers know where it is located. Somehow after the excursions we decided to go shopping. We left the hotel by taxi without any problems for only 13 yuan, we thought that it would also be easy to get back, but in fact everything turned out to be much more difficult. A few hours later, leaving the store with purchases, we began to catch a taxi, but of all the taxis stopping, none of the taxi drivers knew how to get to the hotel and everyone refused us. After suffering for more than an hour, we approached a rickshaw who, on his bike for 50 yuan, agreed to take us to the hotel, although he also stopped several times during the trip and asked people for directions. We didn’t go shopping anymore, we preferred to wander around not far from the hotel.
