We dreamed of visiting Cuba, and now it happened! I rested with my husband and daughter 2 years old from January 15 to 29. If you want service and food, you are in the Dominican Republic! We flew not to find fault. We flew by Aeroflot (Kubana) to Havana - 12.5 hours. At the airport, they forced me to unload my suitcase - you can’t combine the weight into one, 21 kg is allowed for one. Horror! In general, the guys with 200 grams of overweight were forced to remove the film and transfer these 200 grams from the suitcase! There is no such thing back, although, just in case, we distributed according to the norms. Take out as much rum as you like, no one says a word (we didn’t know), at least from Havana. Airbus 330 aircraft, screens with movies, music and games in the headrests, headphones are given out after takeoff. So it was not so hard to fly, but still... The child endured the flight better than us. True, we were alone with such a small one. On the way back, the flight was delayed and we spent an extra 4 hours at the airport. From Havana by bus to Varadero - 2.5 hours and we are at the hotel. We settled in a bungalow building F, on the 2nd floor. And we ran to dinner and sleep.
The room is large, cleaned every day, the cleaning lady took a tip only on the last day. Yes, the rooms are damp and by the end of the holiday all things stink of mold, but so is the main building. The room had 22 volt outlets by the bed, on the balcony and by the sink. Safe for free. Fridge. A 1.5 liter water bottle (further in the store for money, or pour it in bars and restaurants, but it stinks of bleach).
Breakfast is from 7 am to 10-30, but our baby woke up early, so we went to the dining room early. I can’t call it a restaurant, there is little light, there are always some unpleasant smells, queues for scrambled eggs and pancakes (cooks are not in a hurry, they sing songs, look at people in line). At first it was infuriating, but then they realized that it was just the rhythm of their life and they stopped standing in lines and ate something else. By the way, breakfast ham is real, not soy like in Turkey and Egypt. The cereal is not tasty. Pastries are normal, but the choice is not large, for lunch and dinner there were biscuits soaked like a “Fairy Tale” cake once upon a time... mmmm))) We dined mainly in a bar-restaurant on the beach. From 12-30 they prepared delicious paella (at least our child ate it), in the main restaurant it was not like that, and grilled meat, fish, chicken. For money, they cook lobsters with vegetables and shrimp - 16 kuk. For dinner once a week in the main restaurant they gave these lobsters, but to screw them up like that is something. If you want to eat delicious lobsters and not spoil the impression of them (we ate them for the first time) - eat for money. We also went to Al Capone's house in Varadero, where they cook both lobsters and lobsters - 25 kuk - very tasty. They are prepared in almost all cafes, and they cost from 15 to 30 kuk. For lunch and dinner there were always seafood, pasta, potatoes, chicken, meat, beans, peas, corn. The waitress Olga said that the hotel is governmental, the cooks here are very good, we are just not used to eating this))). From fresh vegetables cabbage, peppers, tomatoes, cucumbers. Fruits: pineapples, watermelons, papaya, guava, bananas, oranges. Mango season is April-May. The berries don't grow. The bar is the coolest in the lobby of the hotel.

The weather was - like in our summer, cool in the morning (dawn around 6-30), and then the heat is around 30, the humidity was not very felt. The ocean is not very cold 23-26 somewhere in different ways. Guide Carlos said that we were lucky with the weather, usually in January there are a lot of cold fronts (they are waiting for them to take a break from the heat), last year tourists complained that it was cold. The weather is optimal for us, he says, the end of March - May. We got on 2 days of the cold front - brr (pants, jackets). The sand is wonderful. The colors of nature cannot be conveyed....The beach is cool, the ocean is clean, gentle))) We were taken on a sailboat - wow! On the territory we saw hummingbirds, pelicans, herons, turtles, fish, parrots in cages, and many more birds unknown to us, butterflies, lizards.
We went on a trip to Havana and enjoyed it very much. At the bazaar, souvenirs and paintings are 3 times cheaper than in Varadero. Rum costs the same everywhere. Friends went to about. Cayo Largo - the Caribbean Sea is warmer there; the sand is even whiter and finer; stars, shells; on palm trees, hammocks are paradise. We also went to the dolphinarium - the performance is super !!!
There are a lot of Canadians in the hotel, their youth get drunk on alcohol and hang out until the morning, and ours are “poured with mud”, apparently they didn’t successfully run into))). There are many Russians, Panamanians, French, Argentines, in general, many different nationalities. We did not go to the animation, the child fell asleep earlier, and so did we))). The staff is smiling, friendly, not rushed. We really liked Cuba - a dream come true, but next time, if you choose, we want to go to the Dominican Republic. Those who rested on the contrary - spat in Cuba on food and service. In general, do not bother and you will succeed!! !
