My wife and I decided to buy property by the sea. There were a million options - Bulgaria, Croatia, Spain, Sochi in the end. Cyprus also emerged. But everywhere something didn’t suit us - where it’s expensive, where it’s far from the sea, where it’s not clear what is happening with the documents, where the wife simply didn’t like it... When searching on the Internet, it was difficult not to stumble upon a lot of sites offering real estate in Northern Cyprus. The same mass of sites where they write how dangerous it is from a legal point of view and in general for security purposes. We love to seek adventure in life, so Northern Cyprus, at least, interested us with its such controversial, unrecognized. I said to my wife: "You do what you want, I'll go to see what kind of place this is, about which polar opinions are formed. " At first she was afraid to let me go, after all, women are very subject to public opinion and influence, but then her friend from work said that she and her husband went to Northern Cyprus to relax, and were very pleased. It overpowered.
We bought plane tickets to Larnaca, booked a hotel from the local tour operator, which turned out to be cheaper than if you booked a room directly at the hotel. The same firm met us at the port and helped us to settle in a hotel. We were given a brochure with tour programs. As an archaeologist by education, I was interested in almost everything. As a result, we went with Ilkos Tour to the ancient city of Salamis, which is considered one of the best preserved ancient cities. We learned a lot of interesting information, in addition to Salamis we visited the monastery of St. Barnabas and Famagusta.
I specifically did not ask the real estate company to become our host, although they promised a free trip, accommodation and were almost ready to pay us tickets. My opinion is that everyone should mind their own business, a travel company should show and tell, and realtors should understand real estate and be able to sell.
In conclusion, I will say that they were very satisfied with Northern Cyprus and, as a result, they bought an apartment here on the first coastline with a view of the sea. Now we will come more often and already as to our home. For comparison, we swept at the beginning of the trip through southern Cyprus. I didn’t like it at all, maybe the age is not the same, maybe it’s just not ours. Crowds of people, a lot of Russian "daddies" who bought up Postrov. You sit drinking coffee and Russian speech is everywhere. Still, I did not want to go to the Russian branch. Prices are also quite biting, but when you go on vacation you plan spending anyway. In the North, there is a very calm, measured life without pressure, rather cheap clothes and shopping in general. Products at the level of Moscow. Very true expensive gasoline (under 50 rubles per liter). Rest or live - it does not matter, but it is very comfortable here, believe me.
