Kouzalis Beach 4*

We are middle-aged people, lovers of a relaxing beach holiday. There were many places.
The main thing for us: clean warm sea, decent service and silence at night. The lack of animation is considered a plus. This is not the first time in Cyprus, so we were not interested in excursions, besides, they are very expensive.

So, Kouzalis beach hotel, Protaras.

I will not repeat other reviews, the hotel is out of the way, and this actually attracted us. The hotel rests mostly British, a few Germans, Russians at the beginning there were 3 couples, and last week we were alone. The English are nice, they played table tennis and darts with them, but they always walk on the wrong side and say, well, sooooo incomprehensibly. The staff is different, for the most part quite friendly, occasionally come across and not very much, however, perhaps they are jarred by our clumsy English.

Two completely Russian-speaking waitresses worked in the restaurant: Rita and, it seems, Esina (not sure if all the letters are correct), who helped us a lot, well done, good girls.

The beach is a green lawn located between the pool and the sea. There is enough space for everyone, and umbrellas are at a decent distance from each other, no one interferes with anyone. Bar for drinks by the pool. The beach towels provided by the hotel are a bit small so bring your own. Before a convenient entrance to the sea, you need to walk 50-70 meters, there is a small cove. You can also enter from the rocks, but this is for younger and more agile people. Good beach shoes are a must! The sea is clean, no restrictions, swim wherever you want, no one stops you. It is good to swim with a mask or goggles, although not diving, of course, but there are several types of fish, crabs, sea urchins, starfish. There are no jellyfish at all.
A strong wind and small waves rose a couple of times, while the water in the bay became rather muddy. A little further away, the sea remained clean, and we swam every day with pleasure, but it was a pity for the children from the neighboring hotel on such days. Conclusion: this is a place for those who swim well and love to do it.

The room is clean, the furniture is in good condition, all plumbing in the bathroom is normal. Cleaned the room in our absence, perfectly and imperceptibly for us. Soap and shampoo were constantly in such special containers. Towels are not luxurious, but changed, in my opinion, every day. Perhaps, the not too wide and comfortable bed surprised me. And the hair dryer is connected tightly somewhere below the table, not very convenient. There is no Russian channel, well, and God bless him. Overall impression of the room is good. The promised Side Sea View did not disappoint.

Separately about the restaurant.

The food is not much different from other “fours” we have been to before: at first it seems to be a lot of everything and tasty, but by the end of the second week it becomes boring. Meat dishes are always several and very decent, the fish is almost the same every day, such as cod, cooked a little differently. Delicious cheese to cut yourself. Tasteless bread, buns are completely disgusting, we even began to make toast, which had never happened in the previous 15 years of tourist experience. There are always fruits: apples, pears, light and dark grapes, melons, watermelons, often bananas. Desserts are delicious, but we rarely took them, we didn’t even try everything. Drinks at lunch and dinner must be ordered from the waiter. Here we were in for an unpleasant surprise. We are lovers of dry grape wine, we don’t really understand, we just know its taste.
So one day, they brought us such a diluted rose wine (by the way, the wine is all from bags, bottles can only be ordered for money), that it became clear from the first sip. True, they replaced it without a sound and it didn’t happen again, moreover, they began to bring us wine not chilled, as before, but at room temperature (maybe they stopped breeding? ). In general, at first they laughed, but now, time has already passed, but it’s unpleasant to remember.

We went to Protaras for souvenirs on the bus, ticket 80 cents. It is much busier there, such a small town with shops and banks. We liked it at first glance.

We left at 3 am. We ordered a lunch pack in advance, the girl at the reception carefully and politely wrote everything down. As a result, we did not receive anything, although the whole day was fully paid. Not to mention the fact that in Rhodes and Crete you could just have a cup of coffee with cookies before leaving. Not very welcoming...
For those who have read to the end, thank you for your attention.
