The Reichstag is amazing primarily because you draw the energy of history from it. I went up to the roof, saw the panorama of Berlin, and then it seemed to me that I was suffocating. It felt like my grandfather was standing next to me. He died in 1941, but now he has reached Berlin with me, and next to him, shoulder to shoulder, are relatives who remained in the war or died later, who also now “took” the Reichstag with me.
Dorotheenstrasse passes by the Reichstag, along which Stirlitz was driving to the radio operator Kat. But then, according to the plot, the street was bombed, and he turned onto Friedrichstrasse (he recounted his path to Muller), and this is the 4th intersection from the Reichstag: they bombed very close, the last days of the war!
And despite this, Berlin looks like a teenager of 14-15 years old.
Not because it was bombed to the ground, but is now being rebuilt and is still too young. Berlin constantly wants to prove something, somehow stand out (it stood out with a monument to homosexuals, a memorial to the dead Jews above the Fuhrer's bunker). As the familiar German Voldemar said: “Berlin is not the whole of Germany, the Germans are generally restrained, but here they fanatically believe in free will. Did you have free will there in Russia after perestroika? ” I was even somehow confused. : )
Watched BlueManShow. . I don’t even know if I can recommend it to anyone, but one thing is for sure - there is a lot of “German” in this show.
You should definitely visit the Museum Island and Charlottenburg Palace, take a walk around Unter den Linden and in the vicinity of the Rechstag, see the Berlin Cathedral (the twin brother of St. Isaac's Cathedral) and the Citadel.
Berlin is beautiful, because you yourself feel like a teenager in it - ambitions and strengths appear to realize them.
