Traveling in Germany.
While fresh impressions of a trip to Berlin, I want to share them. Perhaps my experience will be helpful.
The preparation took about 2 months. Almost all the information was searched through the Internet. The trip was on a budget. There were 4 of us, 2 adults and 2 children (8 and 10 years old). I read a lot of different reviews about hotels, transport, excursions and guides. By the time I decided on the hotel. My husband and I decided that the hotel should be in the center in order to waste less time on public transport + in Berlin it is very expensive. The choice fell on the hotel - Etap, which is located on Alexander Plyatz. A little about the hotel. The hotel is new, opened in the spring of 2011. The rooms are small, simply furnished, there is a shower. Enough space to spend the night. For those who value comfort, this hotel is not suitable. Although the location is very convenient. We also decided on the excursion program.
During the time that we were going to spend in Berlin, which is 4 days, we planned to see as much as possible! Our program included Berlin, Potsdam, Dresden and Lü beck. I want to say right away that there was not enough time to see everything. Lubek dropped out of our list. It was difficult to decide on a guide, there is not much information about them on the Internet. Based on the reviews of people and photos of guides, we chose Lydia Mayer. She trained as a tour guide and now works for the Alnika-reisen tourism company. After our conversation with her on the phone, we discussed our excursion program, how and who will meet us at the airport, we left a pleasant impression of communication. She organized our meeting, helped to settle in a hotel, and during our stay in Berlin she suggested how and where it is better to spend our free time. The cities we saw made a deep impression on us.
Dresden, which was destroyed, was almost completely rebuilt. A little outside the city is the fortress - Kö nigstein. It is located at an altitude just below 400 meters above sea level. It is very well preserved and the views that open from its height cannot even be conveyed by photographs. This fortress has not been conquered by any enemy in its entire existence. Personally, I really liked Potsdam, a green city, rich in sights and, most importantly, the atmosphere of the city, it conquers, and there is no desire to leave this city. I will not write anything about Berlin, you need to watch and enjoy it, it is worth it. That feeling of the atmosphere of these German cities that Lida gave us and her deep knowledge of history made a very pleasant impression on us.
I was struck by one detail, how she communicates with the children (we were in Potsdam for 9 hours, in Dresden with the road for 12 hours), our children listened to her with their mouths open, almost no one was harmful, she knows how to tell in such a way that it is impossible to tear yourself away. As far as the youngest daughter is not assiduous, she did not leave Lida. The overall impression of the trip was pleasant.
If you are in Berlin, be sure to go to the zoo. You will not regret. Not to mention the kids, we adults loved it there.
