The fabulous city of Potsdam
We just returned from Germany yesterday. We got a lot of impressions that I really want to share. We have already been to Paris, Rome, Prague, Budapest, but visited Germany for the first time. And we started, of course, from the capital))Berlin, it was decided to explore on their own, as a last resort, make a City tour by bus. But I booked an excursion to the fabulous city of Potsdam in advance, almost a month before our trip. This decision can be easily explained. the fact is that our hotel was located in Berlin and, armed with a map and a guide, we could move, besides, so much has been written about Berlin, but I didn’t find much about Potsdam, although the photos were very impressive. So we are in Berlin! First day. First impression: "small airport?! "Taxi is not expensive, 20€ from Tegel airport to our hotel Atrium is not far from the main street Kurfü rstendamm. The hotel speaks Russian and there is a Russian grocery store across the road. It's like they didn't go anywhere. Second impression: we are on vacation! Evening Berlin, Kurfü rstendamm street impressed with its evening atmosphere. Dinner at the restaurant (it was chosen in advance from those offered to us by e-mail by the guide)It is called "Turtle", there is a menu in Russian, friendly staff trying to speak Russian)) I really liked the veal liver in Berlin, and my husband took the knuckle by itself))Second day. The first difficulties: understanding the metro with tickets, knowing only Russian and a little English, was not so easy. But even here there were some compatriots)) some Russian guy saw our confused faces and helped. A big THANKS to him for this! And we went to see the city. We started at Alexander Platz, looked at the St. Nicholas quarter, the Hack courtyards, the island of museums, the Brandenburg Gate and, of course, the Reichstag. Shock: construction sites everywhere and almost no cars. And besides, a lot of tourists, but where are the locals? Ay! In the evening we didn’t go anywhere, so we were left without legs))Third day. Museums: Pergamon - shockedNational Gallery - I love itGerman historical - I wonder if someone else told (there is no Russian audio guide)Enough for one day!! ! We spent the evening at the Citadel restaurant (booked in advance): delicious, unusual, fun! Fourth day. Meeting with the guide (Ksenia Kozak) in the lobby and on her car in Potsdam. Surprise: the road there, behind the center, the forest begins, stretches for quite a long time, and this is still Berlin! Pleasure: cottage cheese and apple pie not far from Potsdam in a very beautiful place. Pleasure: views of the old city, untouched by the war, parks, palaces. Interest and surprise: I have never experienced much interest in history, Ksenia presented everything like a fairy tale in pictures, very interesting! Understanding: it was also necessary to take a guide in Berlin, at least for the first
