We started planning our honeymoon in the winter. There were several options: Thailand, Bali, Maldives, Dominican Republic
Thailand fell away immediately, since in early August there are constant rains. Not a season
Bali. Not inspired by the stories of friends, reviews of tourists and photos on the same site
The Maldives is very expensive and very boring.
Dominican Republic. Arranged everything.
Despite the fact that even on this site, not to mention dozens of others, a lot of conflicting information was written about the Dominican Republic, we decided to go there. Running ahead. 80% of the information that I read about the Dominican Republic turned out to be false. Especially about the rainy seasons, earthquakes, crowds of refugees from Haiti, mosquito mosquitoes and other nonsense.
Airplane tickets. flight options.
I looked through options through Amsterdam, Paris, Frankfurt.
Through Amsterdam and Frankfurt it was 300-400 USD more expensive.

Through Paris was the cheapest. The risk of the option via Paris is described at the end. Read up.
It is better to buy tickets in advance (3 months in advance), separately from buying a ticket. Flights are regular, there are no promotions and discounts. Closer to the date of the flight only rise in price.
It cost us 1750 USD. per person on both sides.
3 hours to Paris. 3 hours in Paris. From Paris to Punta Cana 8.5 hours. It's boring, but there are screens with movies, programs, clips and music on board in the seats.
Arrival.
The airport is unique. Hut covered with palm leaves. At the entrance to the terminal, you give your migration card, you pay 10 USD. and Wellcome in Dominican Republic.
15 minutes drive to the nearest hotel. To Bavaro Princes 30 min.
Hotel.
Probably the greenest in Bavaro (namely Bavaro, not Punta Cana, as they call it everywhere).
On the territory of the hotel there are hundreds of different types of palm trees, bushes, mangroves, almost in the wild, parrots, flamingos, peacocks, ducks, monitor lizards, turtles and other animals live in the hotel. Only monitor lizards are in the enclosure, the rest walk (fly) calmly around the hotel, not being afraid of tourists.
On the territory of the hotel there is such a steam locomotive, the time from the reception to the ocean on the way is about 4-5 minutes.
All rooms in the hotel are located in two-story houses. We got a 2-minute walk from the ocean, although there were very distant ones. It's like luck.
Rooms of 2 types, restored and not. In principle, not completely restored even. If it were not for the high power air conditioner, which we could not adjust, we would not have changed the room. The new rooms have a jacuzzi and a plasma TV instead of a box.
Food, drinks.

Many. So many. It's obscenely a lot, because you don't know what to choose, you type everything in a row and don't eat it. Drinks liqueurs for cocktails of local production. Imported whiskey. Vodka Stolichnaya. Italian wine. Local beer. They constantly drank only local drinks, since flying over 9000 km and drinking Hainiken and Jameson is blasphemy. I recommend trying Mamajuana. The most popular drink. Something between whiskey and rum, but pleasant, without the smell of alcohol.
Beach, ocean.
Open a jar of sugar in the kitchen and you will understand everything. White, soft, does not get hot in the sun. The water is blue and clear. In fairness, it should be said that the first 3-5 meters of the entrance to the water will be muddy, as it is sandy and the waves raise the sand. But step back and you can watch your pedicure.
Animation.
Everything was. From salsa and aerobics on the beach, to football, archery, darts, table tennis and tennis. You will not be bored if you are not lazy.
Excursions.
I recommend about Saona and Santa Domingo. Saona is an earthly paradise in the Caribbean. Santa Domingo is very educational. You learn a lot of interesting things about the country.
Just do not take in groups of 40-50 people. This is bullying and a waste of money.
The cost of excursions depends on the number in the group. From 75 to 130 USD
Souvenirs.
Buy cigars, they are better than Cuban ones, coffee and rum. Everything that you buy in duty free in Punta Canna on the way back and do not put in your luggage (drinks over 100 ml) will be taken to Charles de Gaulle.
Return trip.
The plane from Punta Canna flies back to Santa Domingo, 20 minutes and 1 hour at the airport of the capital. And then straight to Paris. This is where we got to. The fact is that on the Punta Cana-Paris-Kyiv direction, the difference between arrival in Paris and departure to Kyiv is 50 minutes. We are late. Up to the fault of Air France. There was a huge scandal. There were 15 of us late. At first, Air France offered a hotel in Paris before the next flight, but the police did not open a one-day visa to anyone. In the end, after much cursing, we spent the day and night in the VIP area, something like a lounge with a non-alcoholic bar and food. They left the next morning. But I wouldn't risk flying like that again.
Impression.
Super. We had the honeymoon you can dream of. Thanks to the Dominican Republic and Art Travel. We will definitely be back
