After reading a lot of reviews about the Dominican Republic and this hotel in particular, I will try to highlight the main thing that a novice tourist needs to know about.
1. The flight is very long and its perception depends only on how you prepare for it. This applies to both Transaero and Aeroflot. Inadequate on board are found on any airline, so get ready for the fact that you will have to lock yourself in your world for 10-11 hours and entertain yourself on your own. They will feed you on board the plane twice, but the rest of the time there will be practically nothing to do. Therefore, either a dream or a tablet / screens. It is also better to take some food and water on the plane. It seems that it is impossible to drink strong alcoholic drinks on board, but if you really want it and the flight attendants do not see it, then you are welcome.
2. Moving to the hotel also takes a lot of time (an hour and a half), as the hotel is far from the airport. Private transfer or taxi - up to half an hour.

3. Numbers.
When you take rooms at the agency, do not hesitate to ask what specific rooms you will be accommodated in and what will happen if they lied. From experience: Junior Suite promo is a distant light (the so-called Premier), Junior Suite are rooms in the middle between the sea and the reception, Hacienda are close to the sea. All those fairy tales that we will give a hundred bucks and they will move us to a better room are invented by idiots, specific tariffs for relocation hang in the minibus (from 25 to 35 bucks per room per day).
We immediately took Hacienda. Advantages: own restaurant for breakfast / lunch on the way to the beach (Santa Fe), 2 minutes walk to the beach, give a little bit of Internet on the computer at the reception (15 minutes a day), own separate reception.
4. Restaurants. While living in Hacienda, you can eat and drink at any of the restaurants except the Barn area. There was no particular difference in nutrition, but in the main restaurant, the choice for breakfast / lunch is usually much richer than in Santa Fe.
In ala carte, sign up as soon as you arrive, besides you there are still a lot of hungry mouths. I liked the French cuisine in a la carte (by the way, there is no buffet in it, as in other a la carte). Remember the dress code for men when visiting a la carte!
And yet, in the main restaurant, from the very beginning, carefully go around the entire buffet in order to understand where what is given out. Otherwise, you can find some sweets only the day before departure.
5. Excursions. Santo Domingo is boring and smells of history, and it's up to you to decide whether to take it or not. Samana and Saona are more dynamic and definitely recommended (one of them is enough). Lovers of aquatic fauna can be recommended to go swimming with dolphins (at the reception they give out an advertisement).
6. Souvenirs. In all the shops, key rings and magnets cost no more than $ 4, Barcelo rum was taken for 20, coffee (200 gr) for 12.

As for souvenirs and excursions, bargain if you are not in a shopping center. They'll slow it down.
Checked.

The population of the hotel: 30 percent - the United States (of which a quarter previously lived in Tagil), 10 (+ -) percent of Russians, French, Canadians, 20 - Spaniards, the rest are residents of nearby countries.

There are free minibuses running around the hotel (three lines) strictly perpendicular to the sea. So even long-distance numbers will not be particularly burdened by hiking under the scorching sun.

Sunbeds naturally all take hours at 5-6 in the morning. Tricks with handing over towels (the hotel has a standard system of exchanging towels for cards from 8 to 18: you left the beach - handed in a towel - got a card - you go to the beach - handed in a card - got a towel) does not affect the use of sunbeds. Everyone just takes the towels to the room for the night.

In the rooms, by the way, twilight really reigns. There are five lamps on the sides and there is no normal lighting from above. Maybe this is the style?

It is still not clear what people are doing in a chlorine-stinking pool?
Okay, Americans with non-spill mugs - they don’t care where they suck beer, but are normal people ? ? ?

Rooms are cleaned daily at different times. For a couple of dollars in tips, they will fill the refrigerator according to your wishes in Spanish. After all, they don’t care how much beer you put in - no one counts it there.

Yes, and do not forget - knowledgeable people say that if you have a Bahia Principe bracelet on your hand, then you can use the infrastructure of any hotel of this chain, except for those with the prefix Luxury. It will be especially convenient for people who independently plan a trip to Samana or La Romana or Puerto Plata.

Well, the tropical climate and the unique color of the Atlantic Ocean is something that cannot be conveyed, you just need to feel and see it.

P. S. Next time I will take shorts and a T-shirt with me in my hand luggage, it would not hurt to change clothes before going to Punta Cana.
