The hotel is located fifty meters from the embankment, the location is gorgeous. The building itself is a mansion of the early 20th century, throwing dust into the eyes from the threshold: antique figurines, luxurious furniture, an old-school elevator in which you have to close the door behind you. I love such buildings with history, a lot can be forgiven the hotel for it.

The hotel is located fifty meters from the embankment, the location is gorgeous. The building itself is a mansion of the early 20th century, throwing dust into the eyes from the threshold: antique figurines, luxurious furniture, an old-school elevator in which you have to close the door behind you. I love such buildings with history, a lot can be forgiven the hotel for it. The main problem is the old carpets in the corridors, the carpets are faded in places, huge stains are visible in places. The water pressure in the bathroom is weak, the water temperature fluctuates - I don't like that either. Everything else was good.
Rooms with old fixtures and old window frames and shutters. But this is just the case when everything works perfectly and is perceived as amazingly preserved museum exhibits, and not as junk that needs to be replaced. Bathrobes, slippers, hairdryer, safe, mini-bar - all this is in the rooms. Great view from the window on a busy street. On the other side of the corridor, the windows overlook the sea, which is even cooler. There is a restaurant on the roof: good breakfasts are served here in the morning, live music in the evening. In the restaurant, the "Russian" face of the boy-waiter immediately caught my eye. And it is true that Alexander spoke pure Russian in Alexandria, although he has been living in Cairo for more than ten years. The singers were also Slavs, where exactly, I did not recognize.
If you, like me, like to live in old mansions, you will like the Metropol in Alexandria. I had the best impressions of the hotel and the city as a whole.
