I read the good reviews and I'm surprised. Or people for the first time, and have no idea how it should be, or I don’t understand anything at all....
I travel a lot, in Hurghada 3 times, before that there were Ali Baba and Mercury (former Sofitel).
Otherwise, how to call a stay in Desert Rose a horror movie is difficult.
So, in order, and I will try without emotions.
1. Settlement: They gave a room in building 4, overlooking the road and 800 meters from the sea, for $ 20 they tried to settle in the 5th, almost as far from the sea, but overlooking the pool. The air conditioning did not work in the room. After an hour-long scandal, the family sat in a stuffy room, and I ran in the heat, settled in the 6th, closest to the sea and the freshest.

2. The rooms are old, the bathroom has broken tiles and fungus on the walls. photos are attached. Add. there are no beds, for a child of 10 years old they brought a sagging folding bed with a hole in the middle, and the next day, again with a scandal, they brought a normal bed. The air conditioner hums terribly, different sounds and constantly. Periodically turn off the light or water. The water in the shower is not regulated - either hot or cold. Of course ants.
3. FOOD (this is the most interesting) -
Serving a la station cafe (on the table a knife, fork, and ONE paper napkin). Washed tablecloths. Iron chairs with leatherette cushions, those outside, are beautifully decorated with bird droppings that no one wipes.
Most of the pastries are stale, served for several days.
Salads are also not fresh, the same ones, according to the principle they brought them out. When completely sour was replaced.
There are practically no fresh vegetables, sometimes fresh tomatoes and cucumbers appeared.
The general impression is that there are no cooks, and the cleaners do the cooking, in their free time. Everything is wildly delicious!!!
Meat: Chicken with sauce, with a crust from daily heating and for some reason not hot.
Beef is a special feature of Desert Rose. Pieces of rubber beef goulash,
also warmed up, served each time under a different name, then it’s goulash, then just beef, and sometimes shish kebab or shawarma))). I emphasize, the product is the same!! ! Not eaten pieces of this already cooked beef are turned into minced meat, fried on a baking sheet with pieces of fresh onion and pepper?? ? and served as Turkish shawarma))).
It also happens to be fish, grilled or just fried, but raw inside through one. The same goes for squids, which were seen 4 times in two weeks. Once there were pieces of octopus.
The sweet table - what this region is traditionally famous for, consists of the usual dryish biscuit cakes, half-eaten at lunch, or yesterday in pieces, lay out colorful cakes. Baklava, which I adore, was served twice in two weeks, and then dry and not tasty.

On the last evening I saw an interesting know-how called "fake shawarma". A small skewer with shawarma is spinning, and next to it, under the inscription "shawarma", the same pieces of beef goulash are heated up. I suddenly notice that under the skewer there is perfect cleanliness, obviously no one has cut anything from there. I asked a miracle in a white cap to cut the meat off the skewer for me. He began to prove that this is the same. Called the chef. He said cut. The knife was missing. . . For ten minutes they were looking for a knife. Cut off. Compared to what others were given. I was convinced that I was right and the only time in two weeks I ate fresh meat.
In the bar, after you make a remark, they pour wine into a wine glass....
Beach. The lagoon is a muddy body of water, fenced off from the sea with a net. There is garbage at the bottom. Surfing is taught in the lagoon, and students ride between swimmers....To the right and left are small pieces of the open sea, there are corals. You can swim with a mask. The sunbeds are old, broken, wooden and very heavy. The bars on the beach are located far from each other. Drinks are poured into disposable plastic cups. And this is one sip. It is very inconvenient. It is strictly forbidden to draw water from the cooler into a bottle, and this is monitored zealously.
The staff in the bars is not trained, and behaves boorishly.
We got great pleasure from the underwater world, but this, of course, has nothing to do with the hotel.
The contingent of vacationers: 90 percent Russian, a few Poles and Serbs. Half of the Russians are clearly the first time abroad, before that there was Anapa and Evpatoria....
I am an adequate person, I have seen different hotels, and 3 and 4 and 5 stars. somewhere better somewhere worse, everywhere there are disadvantages and advantages. But I've never experienced such horror. . . !
I won't be going there again, and I don't recommend it to anyone.
