We returned from Egypt, Desert Rose Hotel. I'd like to write a few tips for those who choose a hotel to stay. I will supplement my review with photos from the hotel. For those who choose a hotel, I will say right away - do not go to this hotel, look for another! You won't lose anything. Those who have already bought a tour there, read to the end so that the rest is not hopelessly spoiled! Big hello to Biblio-Globus travel agency! I want to draw your attention to the fact that Dessert Rose is not 5 *! Don't give people wrong information!!!
We rested from July 5 to July 19.2012 - me, my son and my nephew (both children are 12 years old). I work as a doctor, so I can evaluate many issues from a professional point of view, which I will describe below.
I won’t stop on the flight, everything is fine, they fed me on the flight, everything is fine. Flying Rossiya Airlines. We flew to Hurghada, found our travel agency on the signs, it's easy. We were given a card to fill out. Take a pen with you on the plane (not in your luggage, but in your hand luggage, so you don’t have to look for a long time! ), This will allow you to fill out the card without nerves, because. They don’t give pens there, otherwise you’ll have to run around people and ask. Fill it out yourself, there is nothing complicated - you just need to rewrite in English the surname and name from the passport, citizenship and passport number. The columns after the passport number can be left blank, no one looks at it. Upon arrival at the airport, Ahmeds and Mustafas will immediately run there with an offer to fill out a card for 10 bucks. I refused this and began to fill out the cards myself. I tried to get up to the counter (it is long), where Ahmeds and Mustafs filled out cards for other people. I was immediately asked to leave, motivated by the fact that they work here (at their own expense, mind you! ). Or I can stand here, but they fill my cards. And one of them quite quickly grabbed and began to take away my passports. I politely sent him away, I didn’t make a fuss, because I had children with me. But in this situation, I think that you can scream louder and you could fill out the cards at this counter (they are not employees of the airport or customs). I first filled out the cards, and then stood in line for customs control. You must first stand in line, and then fill in the cards calmly in it, you will have time for everything. I ask you to pay attention to the psychological pressure that immediately begins at the airport - they open one or two windows for control, huge queues, they move slowly, stuffy... And then Ahmeds and Mustafas appear with signs that for 10 bucks you can go through control without a queue. And for 20 minutes they press the people. The most faint of heart give up. But in vain! After all the faint of heart are shaken out of the queue, a few more windows open and the queues dissolve very quickly. It makes sense to go faster with small children - during the day at the airport it is very stuffy, there are no air conditioners or they are very weak, I did not notice their work. We arrived in the evening, the sun was gone, so it was tolerable. But even if you pass the control first, you will wait until the bus is full. Therefore, do not rush to part with the money to pass the control out of turn!! ! The bus is easy to find, you will be shown. Moreover, everyone there communicates quite well in Russian, there are no problems with this.

We got distracted from the room. Double room 5*. It turned out to open the door only with effort - a cosine either in the floor or in the door, the door clings to the floor, the tiles on the floor are all in grooves from friction against the door. The door stop is turned out, there is a lot of adhering dirt around it. The furniture is old and shabby, the TV is from the 90s, the remote control is all wrapped in electrical tape. The lampshades are layered. A huge double-leaf window, which occupies almost the entire wall, sliding doors (as in a closet). One sash is muffled so as not to open, the lock is broken in the other, therefore, for your convenience, a hook is attached there, like in the village latrines of the 70s. But we must pay tribute, the hook is nickel-plated (it feels like 5 *! ). Sanitary room (no other name) consists of a shower, washbasin, toilet and bidet. The shower is separated from everything else by a door that requires force to close. But the children of 12 coped. The shell is cracked. Garbage can. . . Poor what they did with it, I don't know, probably, they drummed on the lid, the lid was all crumpled. A nail was driven into the lid of the toilet paper holder and bent to hold it tight. The drain in the sink was clogged, but the next day they came to clean it. On the evening of arrival, they brought a third bed into the room. And I can not ignore the safe and refrigerator. The refrigerator is old and weak, except for water, nothing can be stored in it - cuttings in a vacuum package (unopened! ) Swollen on the second day. Just leaving the room you take with you the key card from the front door. And the absence of this card in a special device cuts off electricity, so the refrigerator does not work during your absence in the room, as well as the air conditioner. And what do you think, what is the connection between the safe and the refrigerator? In this hotel in a 5 * room, the safe is in the refrigerator!! ! Don't believe me, look at the photos! The safe opens with a key. The key is given at the reception upon check-in. Attached to this key is a large keychain with the room number. To take money from the safe, for example, you need to open the refrigerator (! ), insert the key into the safe, open it, take out your wallet, close the safe, remove the key and close the refrigerator (otherwise your water in the refrigerator will be warm). And closing the refrigerator with the safe door open will not work. You take the money from the wallet and then, to put the wallet in the safe, you repeat all the above steps! But what can I say, 5* is 5*! Anyone who has been in a real 5 * hotel knows what is in the mirror in the bathroom - a myriad of vials with different shampoos, soaps, shower caps, etc. And if this is a two-bed room, then all this is in two copies! Here, in front of the mirror, there is one (! ) broken-off soap dish. And that's it!! ! Einstein was a great man when he said that everything in the world is relative! And 5 * is also relative! Yes, I almost missed an important detail to create a romantic atmosphere! This is not in any 5 * hotel! In one of the drawers you will find one candle and a broken candlestick! Guys! No woman can resist such romance! And if one candle is not enough, let him bring it from his room!!!
Next is cleaning. Cleaned up every day. But this is not cleaning, but hack-work! To wash the floor means to slap a damp, dirty rag on the floor by the window and stretch it with a mop to the door. All! The rag is made from a beach towel, all black. Where he washes it, I do not know. I do not exclude that once wetting it, he rubs it in all the rooms, without washing it. Change of linen for 2 weeks was 2 or 3 times. Pillowcases, apparently, do not belong to bed linen, they have not been changed at all. I had a line drawn on my pillowcase with a pen. Apparently, someone noticed to check whether the linen is being changed or not. So this pillowcase was before the departure. Sheets were changed. But they always had long black hair. Where they came from I don't know. Unpleasant. Once the edge of the sheet was covered in blood. We thought one of us got hurt and dirty. No, it was not our blood - we had no wounds, and the soiled edge of the sheet was tucked under the mattress. Like this! Swans were made from towels. The swan reminded me of a cobra. I do not like. And then it's done with a clean towel. He just rubbed the floor with a dirty rag, and then, without washing his hands, he spins a swan from a clean towel . . looking at all this, he stopped giving money to the cleaner.
Now food. Economy class eats at the economy restaurant. In one of the reviews I read that this is a one-on-one canteen from the Geologist Yamal sanatorium of the 70-80s. Did not believe. But in vain! So, the system "All inclusive". I mean, take whatever you want. It's like that. But I do not want to take it, because it is tasteless. There is a lot on display, but nothing to eat. Do not take sausages - pressed cardboard with starch. Potatoes are always in their skins, cut into pieces. They probably don't know how to clean. There was never puree. No pork, beef 2 times in 2 weeks. Chicken every day in unlimited quantities, fish also every day, but either small pieces in some kind of dough, or some kind of fish casserole, similar to an omelet. You can't tell right away that it's a fish. Everything is peppery and spicy. There are enough vegetables. The tomato is broken into 4 parts, gnaw it as you like. A large piece, as they say, the mouth rejoices. In the morning, the tomatoes are simply chopped, at lunch, as I understand it, what is not eaten in the morning is poured with vinegar so that it sours and there is no way to understand whether it is sour or vinegar. Whoever doesn’t like it, on a separate table, uncut tomatoes, cabbage, and something else are piled up in a common pile - take it and gnaw as much as you want! Juices - orange, pineapple, apple. Only these are not juices, but diluted Jupi, as they say, just add water! The glasses are small - 120 grams, so as not to drink a lot. I drank one glass, but I don’t want to go for the second, so as not to stand in line. Fruits are represented by apples, oranges and melons. But they are not on the buffet, where you come and take as much as you want. They are cut by cooks and given out in strictly limited quantities - 1 apple, half an orange and 3 halves of a thin slice from a small melon. And for this you have to defend a huge queue. Without a queue at the entrance, you can buy a piece of watermelon for 2 bucks. All inclusive! Also the lines for pancakes and scrambled eggs are huge! Omelet and pancakes are fried right there, in front of you. You will be given 3 tiny pancakes, half uncooked, with burnt drops from previous pancakes. The cook slaps pancakes on your plate, shouting “Tafay, tafay”, which means, let's move away quickly, they won't give you any more. They will give you scrambled eggs from 1 egg, as well as an omelet, they will put it on a plate, and you catch it! It's all snotty and undercooked. It's called hello salmonellosis! From such nutrition, first I, and then the child, sorry for the details, knocked out the bottom. If I did not have a temperature, then the child has a temperature of 38, vomiting and diarrhea. We spent 2 days in the room. They gave up Jupi, drank only water from the cooler! You can't drink water from the tap! I recommend brushing your teeth with bottled water, which is brought daily, and not from the tap. Anyway, kids! In this situation, I thought, we will eat from the children's table, where they cook without spices. Indeed, mashed potatoes, vegetable puree, something carrot. Got to try everything. It took a minute to reach the table. Everything is cold. The mashed potatoes are full of peel, they are tired of spitting. The rest is inedible. There are a lot of pastries, but do not take sweets with cream - in such heat they are poisoned. The child was poisoned by this, he could not look at these sweets and did not eat it at all.
The restaurant is open for breakfast. Dinner and supper. If you go to the opening at breakfast, lunch and dinner, then you will stand in line for food, if by the middle of the time, then you risk not finding a table for 3 people, and if by the end of the time, then part of the food may run out. We acted easier - one in line for an omelet for three, the other for pancakes, the third takes the table. 5*, all inclusive!! ! In addition to the main restaurant, there are bars by the pools where you can get pizza, drinks such as cola, sprite, beer, etc. At certain hours, children were given free ice cream. At the bar on the street. The distributor gets his hands into the bowl in which he spreads the ice cream, he keeps the spoon for distributing ice cream in a glass of water. In the heat, it all wanders and bubbles in different colors. This water does not change for several hours. Complete unsanitary conditions. Fortunately, the ice cream is not tasty, the children tried it once and did not go again. If you still want ice cream, go to the beginning of the distribution.

Entertainment. The animation is weak, the children's corner is uninteresting. They insistently invite to play water polo, and a slender girl invites. And hairy men play and jump on each other there! It may be good for her, but I don't like it when a hairy man jumps on me! There was water aerobics. They recruit people, put them in the pool waist-deep in water. The instructor jumps on the shore to the music, showing the exercises, everyone in the water repeats this. All this would be very good if it were not carried out at 11 o'clock in the scorching sun at 40 degrees. But there were people who wanted to.
Tours. We took a sea trip (paradise island, corals, nature reserve, fishing) - 8 hours, a boat with a transparent bottom, a water park. Aquapark . They promised 26 slides, some 44 slides (a group of several hotels is going to). By our arrival, 5 or 6 were working, the queues were crazy, to move out, we had to queue for 10-15 minutes. Then they opened another slide, but this is 2 hours after arrival. The paths are hot from the sun, the feet are hot. I noticed that the Germans were in crocs (special slippers for swimming). If you go, take it, it will be more comfortable. Talked to family from Dana Beach hotel. Do not consider this an advertisement, I was not there, I don’t know, I can’t vouch for the authenticity, just for information. In this hotel, fruits are free, you don’t need to borrow sunbeds early. Cruise. Recommend. Clear sea, a lot of swimming, corals, lunch on a boat, and it's tastier than in a hotel. After loading onto the boat, a briefing is given about the plans for the day. Not a word about the means of salvation. When I asked about the means of salvation, they told me that they did not understand me. Then, before swimming, a bunch of life jackets were dragged onto the corals, half tattered, torn, not in size. If something happens, you won’t find vests on your own and you may not get them in size. But what’s good is that only 20 people take a 40-seat boat, so it’s not crowded. From this excursion positive impressions.
The boat with a transparent bottom was not included due to health problems. The money was not returned -75 bucks.
Excursions are ordered by hotel guides at the morning meeting the day after arrival. I did not like the persistence with which they are forced to take these excursions. They offer a discount if you buy now. Negative attitude if you try to order later. So don't order everything at once! There are many excursions, you will be given a paper with a full schedule and price. It makes no sense to take more than 3 excursions - it’s problematic to drag around in the heat almost every day. And further. Do not take excursions outside the hotel gates. Medical insurance does not cover these excursions. It only covers excursions taken from hotel guides!

Once a week, lawns are mowed and sprayed with muck from insects. This smell constantly keeps on the street, near pools. The second time insects were poisoned in the evening (the first time in the afternoon). There was nothing to breathe in the room from this muck. I called the reception, explained the situation, asked to stop this spraying. In the purest Russian, they told me that they did not understand me and asked me to call back in the morning when there were Russian speakers. I had to take the children outside and hang around the pools for half the night. In the morning (I slept by the window) nausea, mouth full of saliva, dizzy. Children are nothing. The doctor himself, the symptoms of poisoning are evident. I went to the reception to figure out what they were poisoning, what kind of drug. Once sent, come back later. I suck, the second time, we are all busy, we have a meeting. I had to make a scandal. They press me - like overheated, poisoned, our drug is safe for people (! ), although we do not know the active substance and the person who sprays it works in a respirator. Only after I said that there would be a trial and now I would go to the police for trying to poison foreign citizens, the senior manager and Russian-speaking employees were immediately found. Immediately everyone understood everything, began to apologize and offered a room in the club building on the seashore. It all costs more than a regular room. Given that the smell is very persistent and kept in the room, I took the children and we moved there. And before moving, the manager and I got into a hotel car and went to look at the room. We pass by a dude who poisons insects near another building. There is nothing to breathe, I almost vomited, she closes her nose. And I tell her, it's safe for people that you close! She didn't say anything. We settled into this suite. Sea view. The symptoms all went away after 3-4 hours. We didn’t go to the sea anyway - the children had abrasions on their legs, it stung a lot, and the lagoon remained muddy. We went to the pools. I had to walk far from this building, it was inconvenient in the heat. But we began to eat at the club restaurant. No queues, fruits were cut in the form of a salad, there was even grapes. Take as many melons as you like. Omelet and scrambled eggs are fried in front of you, they ask how many eggs to break, turn over, fry. They ask how many pancakes to make, for children they bake pancakes in the form of a bear cub. Heaven and earth. Yes, and in the room under the mirror in the bathroom bubbles appeared, though a little, LCD TV, electronic safe, in a modern refrigerator there is water, schweppes, cola, juice, 2 bottles each. The windows are closed on both sides. This, as I understand it, is already a 6-star hotel (since at first I lived in 5 *).
The hotel has a doctor. One visit to him is 70-100 euros, just for the entrance. I took a whole suitcase of medicines with me. He used chloramphenicol eye drops (one of the children had barley), nolicin antibiotic for intestinal infections, imodium and smectum for diarrhea, creon - with such a diet is a must! , cerucal - for nausea and vomiting, Efferalgan for fever, brilliant green for abrasions. He also took peroxide, amoxiclav, an antibiotic for infected wounds, Otrivin nasal drops, bandages, and no-shpu. Definitely sunscreen, bepanthen ointment after burns (very good), there were moments. When we were already bubbling. But after bepanten they didn’t peel off, I liked it very much. Took Rennie for heartburn. I also took mosquito cream and a fumigator, but there were no mosquitoes, I didn’t even start them. There were a lot of ants, hefty, we hollowed them out with slippers. Before us, someone on the ceiling banged. So you don’t have to go on a safari, everything will be in the room.
I also took with me inflatable circles, an air mattress, fins, masks, swimming goggles, sunglasses. Inflatable circles for everyone, fins and masks for everyone too. This allows you to swim and dive in the Olympic pool, and with circles for 2 hours you can’t get out of it, the children really liked it, they didn’t fight for the circles. And then there are fewer people in the Olympic pool, and it is cleaner than the multi-level one.
Take dollars with you, and in small denominations, you don’t have to run and change for pounds. It took me 600 dollars for three (excursions, souvenirs). Behind the gates of the hotel, bargain all the way, cut prices in half boldly. Don't be afraid to bargain! We lost our cap and went to buy. Starting price $10. I gave 2 dollars. This one is furious, bargaining. And I'm just kidding, I think that will do. He praises his product, on the contrary, I find flaws. He lowers the price, I raise it. We didn't talk. I also went to 4 stores and bargained there the same way. I found out at what price they would actually give it back, as a result I went to the first store where I started bargaining and bought this cap for $ 4. If you still buy for pounds, be prepared for the fact that instead of pounds you will be given santims for change (that is, instead of 75 pounds they will give 75 santims, or if our money will give 75 kopecks instead of 75 rubles). This is very common. At the reception you can order a taxi and go to fixed price shops. It's cheap and you don't have to haggle. You can go to McDonald's. Everything is the same as in Russia. Delicious and satisfying.

They just rushed home. How nice it is to be at home. We will never stay at this hotel again and do not recommend! I will be glad if my chaotic story will help you to have a normal rest. Good luck!
