We rested at the Hilton Long Beach hotel with a family of three (husband, wife, son 17 years old) in the period October 23-30.2017. We flew with Join Up.
The hotel was chosen based on the reviews of tourists and the main criterion for us was the opportunity to combine a visit to Luxor (from Hurghada it is closer) and the opportunity to try snorkeling without leaving the hotel (we didn’t swim with masks before).
I’ll make a reservation right away that when we went to Hilton Long beach, we had no illusions, since the hotel is old, and it’s not the best times for Egypt now, we relied on the reviews of tourists regarding the beauty of the reef. But the hotel pleased us with a large beautiful green and well-groomed territory with a lot of pools, friendly staff and good service.
We arrived at 7.00 am local time, we were at the hotel around 7.30. Immediately put on bracelets and invited to breakfast. After breakfast and waiting for about 20-30 minutes we were placed in the room.
Instead of the ordered triple standard, we were placed in a two-room family-room for a small fee.
So, the territory of the hotel is very large, lovers of walking will like it. And for those who are not in the mood for long walks, especially in the heat, there is a mini-transport that can be ordered free of charge near the hotel reception. Near the main building there are a huge number of pools of different depths, bridges, greenery. There are several open bars on the territory of the hotel and on the beach. The territory is constantly cleaned, the plants are looked after, there are a lot of attendants.
The hotel rooms are located in two main buildings and one hundred villas with several rooms. The villas are located on several lines from the beach, which are located on a slope (we counted 7 lines from the sea, we lived on the third). Our room was on the second floor of villa 39 (approximately in the middle between the main building and the pier, which was convenient for us personally).
Food without frills and over-range, but always fresh, and every day we found dishes to our liking. In the main restaurant, crabs (boiled or grilled) were served every other day, in general, the barbecue area worked daily, they cooked fish / crabs, chicken, beef in the form of kebabs. In the Podium (a la cart) restaurant, we were not particularly surprised by anything, the declared cooking shows are not held in the low season (just an open kitchen - behind glass, in which food is prepared).
Sea and beach. The territory of the beach is huge, it will seem to someone that it is far to go to the sea. Low tides are observed during the day, but this is not critical for those who like to enter the water from the pier. The sea is clean (they clean it regularly, catching any nonsense thrown by tourists into the water). The pier is comfortable, albeit long, with benches and a convenient descent into the water right to the reef. The reef is long and there are many different kinds of fish. We received a lot of impressions.
The beach is cleaned several times a day.
Beach towels are issued / changed both near the pools and on the beach. Towels come across and old and normal (but you can just ask with a smile to replace and everything will be in order).
In beach bars and pool bars, only drinks, the issuance of which is carried out on a one-to-one basis. Ice cream is available at the beach bars and by the pool from 12:30 to 16:00 without restrictions.
Entertainment and animation are weak. During the day, the guys try to entertain vacationers with aqua aerobics, yoga, darts, etc. But in the evening it’s boring at the hotel. You can smoke a hookah (cost 3 dollars or 50 Egyptian pounds). We went out into the city almost every evening, just to take a walk, buy souvenirs, bargain with the locals? . There is also nothing to entertain small children here (only one shallow pool near the main building, no slides for children, no mini-club).
Contingent: many Poles and Germans, also many Ukrainians.
Staff and service: the staff is friendly, everyone says hello, they ask where from, how are you, is everything okay and constantly smiling. We did not have the need to solve problems, but all questions were answered promptly and kindly.
