As soon as I returned from Long Beach, I met New Year and both Christmases there. Recommend! For a rather small price list, a beautiful hotel with a large green area, excellent service, good infrastructure, decent food and interesting leisure awaits you. Good rooms are not new, but with a decent renovation. Many pools with different temperatures and depths. Aquapark. A 24-hour gym with a full set of exercise machines, barbells and dumbbells and another, smaller, open-air on the beach. The work of the staff, the warm attitude towards the guests makes a good impression. The local chefs are great! Animation - just fire! Excellent conditions for sports throughout the day. Good evening shows.

The only "but" of the hotel is a somewhat specific beach. It is very large, long and spacious, with several artificial lagoons.

But in order to swim at a depth not in the lagoon, but in the sea, you either need to walk a considerable distance along the shallows, or walk to the pier on the edge of the beach. From the pier there is access to a spacious water area with a light sandy bottom, surrounded by a semicircle of coral fields. Under the pier itself, the coral is pale, there are few fish, but further from it, color and interesting fish are added. There is even a turtle. It’s very nice to swim there, but… to get to the pier, you need to walk a little, from the central pool for about 10 minutes. Some may think it’s far away. Someone likes to, as in the Gulf, to leave the house, run 10 meters along the sand and dive into the sea. This is not about Long Beach. The rest of the hotel is top notch.

1. To Egypt

Now, to enter Egypt, you need to provide a test for coronavirus, made no earlier than 72 hours before crossing the border with Egypt. With Anex Tour and Coral, such tests are done by MedLab laboratories. For free.
There are no queues (at least in the department in the Medical City on Otradnoy). Links to the results of the test passed during the day are sent to SMS and e-mail in the evening, the next day you can pick up the certificate in the original.
At the Hurghada airport, the certificate is checked. It is known that earlier there were precedents with fake certificates and sending for a second test at the airport, despite the presence of a certificate. At the airport, the barcode on the certificate is scanned to instantly confirm its authenticity.
If there is no certificate from Ukraine, the test can be done at the airport. It costs $30. The next day, the hotel will receive information on the results of the test. According to a positive result, the tourist is waiting for isolation in the hotel. About how it looks in Long Beach - a little further.
Another pleasant surprise. Visas to Egypt are free, both at the airport of Sharm al-Sheikh and in Hurghada.
Up to 30 days, then you can extend it at the police station for another month, also free of charge.
The benefit is valid until April 30th.

2. Something about the coronavirus in Egypt

Egypt experienced a peak in coronavirus cases in the summer, when the number of patients reached 60 thousand. In the fall, the disease was minimized, now growth has begun again, but less than in summer and mainly in megacities. In Hurghada (as well as in Sharm), few people wear masks, except perhaps in official institutions and some large shopping centers.

If a tourist tests positive for the coronavirus, they are locked in a hotel room and kept until they test negative. Testing is weekly. At the expense of the tourist. Also, the tourist will have to buy a ticket for the return flight if he misses his. But hotel accommodation and meals are at the expense of the state.
Long Beach Resort Hurghada approached the issue quite humanely.
For those who received a positive test, they allocated separate cottages on the far side of the hotel. Other cottages located nearby are empty.
Near the cottages (they have 4 or 6 rooms) there is a swimming pool, and separate umbrellas and sunbeds on the far shore of one of the lagoons, where no one will approach them, have been allocated for guests with coronavirus. So they can swim in the sea. They also have the option, in addition to the usual dishes from the main restaurant, to order food from a la carte restaurants. Not bad?
During my stay in quarantine, there was only one tourist who enjoyed a private pool (not small) and a private beach. Of course, he was deprived of communication with other guests and entertainment from the animation team, and this is one of the fat "pluses" of the hotel. So it's better not to get sick.
Meanwhile, at Long Beach Resort Hurghada, all staff wear masks, except for the artists on the show and the animators.
Every day, a special worker with a sprayer treats all sun loungers on the beach and by the pools, tables and chairs in bars and restaurants with a special solution.
The floors in the buildings are also disinfected every day.

3. About the hotel

Long Beach Resort Hurghada is not a new resort. It was built almost 20 years ago as a large country five-star complex. The complex consists of two buildings - the main and family, and a large cottage town of two-story houses (from 4 to 7 rooms in each cottage, mostly two-story, but there are also three-story). A total of 101 individual cottages, connected in groups of 6-7 cottages with separate nearby areas. The hotel area around the buildings and cottages is very green and well-groomed.
For a long time the hotel was part of the Hilton chain. The hotel is currently owned by the Egyptian government.

However, according to the impressions of regular guests who have been coming to Long Beach for many years, and I have met quite a few of them, with the exit from the international network, the hotel has changed for the better, in particular food, despite the fact that the cost of rest in it has decreased significantly.
Of course, the general crisis of the Egyptian tourism industry is "guilty" of this. Not from a good life, hotels drop prices. But, it should be noted that despite the difficulties, Long Beach keeps the entire infrastructure in good condition, which cannot be said about most hotels in Egypt. Perhaps that is why, even in the off-season, Long Beach has many more guests than other hotels, not to mention the fact that many hotels are simply closed. At the same time, "Long Beach" was able to carry out the renovation of the main building, while the renovation of the family building and cottages is slowly going on.

4. Location

The hotel is located outside the city, 15 minutes drive to the airport.
By minibus to Sheraton - about half an hour, maybe a little longer (taking into account constant stops), prepare 5 pounds. On the one hand, the Coral Beach cottage-type hotel also adjoins Long Beach, Sal Hasheesh already begins behind it, including the Oberoi hotels and the famous Citadel (most nightlife lovers are known for the Golden Buddha nightclub) ). Further along the road is a checkpoint in Sal Hasheesh, through which outsiders are not allowed.
On the other side of the hotel there is an empty area (a place for a future hotel), and further, closer to Hurghada - Jasmine, Titanic, several Jazz, Mamluk Palace, Mirage Bay, the Big Five hotel complex "and further a number of hotels up to the famous Senzo Mall shopping complex.

5. Territory

Huge. Witty, but most tourists do not even bypass it. A week later, it's not real.
The main life is seething between the wings of the main body, where the main pools are located and on the tangent stretch of the beach.
In the evening, people move to the "Aqua Lounge", where there are mini disco and evening shows, wi-fi and an evening dose of alcohol.

Meanwhile, there are very good corners on the territory, for example, a whole garden of cacti of all sizes. The entire territory of the hotel is well-groomed, even in those places where guests are not accommodated.
6. Rooms
The hotel rooms are quite spacious, there are two-room suites with two balconies or terraces. All rooms in the main building face the sea. At least it is visible from the third floor. From the second and first - hardly, but the balconies and terraces overlook the garden or pools, also densely lined with palm trees and shrubs.
The rooms have everything you need, even irons and alarm clocks. Safe, refrigerator, kettle, plasma TVs with large screens. Air conditioners are noisy. Hairdryer is provided upon request.
They will also bring a bathrobe (for the first time I see the Egyptian "four", where guests are given bathrobes).
Deliciously prepared, without unnecessary oriental spices, entirely on the stomach of an ordinary European. Every evening, chicken or meat is cooked on the grill. There are salads, but mostly just vegetables. They give out portions, but in any quantity no one will look at you like a wolf for an extra chicken chop or a spoonful of goulash. In the morning they are fed with standard Egyptian sausages, cheeses, vegetables, omelettes, etc. The highlight of the breakfast is delicious donuts. Honey and jams for pancakes are given in waffle cups.
The interior of the restaurant is not impressive with luxury, but it is quite normal. Those who wish can eat on the outdoor terrace of the restaurant, but you should be careful not to leave dishes on the tables unattended - are the local crows waiting for the safe ones?
A la carte menus in the hotel offer three restaurants.
Due to the small number of guests, they do not always work, but intermittently. But constantly at least one of the a la carte is available. Greek, Italian and International.
The dishes are different from those of the main restaurant, especially in Italian. Interestingly, there are no restrictions on visiting a la carte restaurants - at least dine there every day.

Another of the main restaurants is closed due to the small number of guests. In addition to the main restaurant, you can dine at the snack bar on the beach.

8. Bars

There are many of them in the hotel, but not all of them are working now. Two bars - on the beach (the main beach bar is closed), one - by the main pools, in the forehead - a "Viennese" bar and a "party" bar in the Aqua Lounge, where evening shows are held.
Pour standard local drinks. They do not regret - as much as you ask, they pour as much. On the spot - in glass, takeaway - in plastic. Also, the bars have good coffee and, due to the number of Englishmen, tea is in demand.

9. Sports
A standard feature of the Hilton hotels is a 24-hour gym, which opens with a card from the door of the room.
The gym is equipped with American fitness equipment, there are barbells, dumbbells, clean towels and a water cooler. At a time when most hotels have closed gyms, this is a good option. In addition, already in December, they equipped a mini-rocking chair in the open air on the beach, with exercise equipment and dumbbells.
The sports leisure center on the beach is a well-equipped pavilion with artificial grass, where animators conduct yoga, stretching, dancing, etc. classes. archery or throw darts. There is a surf station on the beach (see below).
For lovers of jogging - kilometers of paths in the cottage town.

10. Animation

The animators of the hotel deserve special words of gratitude. They are excellent!
Unobtrusive, but always there. They are real professionals in their field and at the same time they are cheerful and persistent people, simple and real.
It is very pleasant to communicate with them. You will also love yoga, you will want to learn how to dance and maybe even fall in love with one of the charming girls on the animation team.
Almost always preoccupied and serious, but with demons in her eyes, which she hides behind the smoky glass of sunglasses. Tall, slender, flexible, simply incredible - this is Christina.

Zoya walks with the soft gait of a fox, she is extremely meek in conversation, and she is also constantly experimenting in yoga classes and, rest assured, no one class with her will be like another. Her blond ponytail dances so merrily on the dance floor.
Julia, she is frank and direct, like a kitten, and children are drawn to her, so she often has to work on a mini-disco or paint children's faces with face painting.
She is a good dancer, she also teaches yoga and stretching classes. She also has a very funny laugh.
The team also includes the permanent host of the evening shows, chief animator Bodesh and zumba master Hima (I love my dog! ). Good tracks should be thanked to the DJ (I think Sam). An Egyptian girl also works with children (I don't know her name).
Animators spend all the activities on the beach, they keep the evening shows. They take those who wish to nightclubs (usually it is the "Golden Buddha" in the "Albatross Citadel"). And the animators create a unique holiday atmosphere that never ends in Long Beach.

11. Leisure

What to do in the hotel besides sports, sunbathing and swimming? Evening shows for kids and adults are a must do. If you don’t go to them, consider that you have lost part of your rest. Interesting dance groups are quite professional. Semi-professional, but inspired dances from animators.
Amateur, but incendiary and fun contests.
In addition, the hotel has a "House of Horrors". Right at the entrance.
I don't know what's inside, I didn't have time to go inside. For children, there are several playgrounds with benches for accompanying adults. For those who prefer TV in the evening, the hotel chain has a good selection of TV channels, including several Ukrainian and major international ones (I occasionally watched CNN and the BBC).
Some guests arranged evening gatherings on the beach, in bars or on the terraces of cottage houses. Everyone has their own ideas for leisure.

12. Guests

Surprisingly, the composition of the hotel guests is surprisingly international. If most of the hotels in Egypt are now Ukrainians - in the vast majority, Log Beach has a lot of Englishmen, Poles, Germans, French, Romanians, Czechs, Serbs.

Given that the vast majority of guests are fluent in English, everyone communicates with each other.
Perhaps this is due to the small number of guests (the hotel is barely 10% full, during the season it can accommodate more than 3.000 tourists at the same time), but during the Christmas holidays it was very pleasant to communicate with almost everyone.

13. Beach

Huge. Very wide. Mostly clay with sparse sand closer to the water. On the beach in abundance "mushrooms", sunbeds with fences from the wind. (Mattresses on sun loungers are in fairly good condition). Also on the beach there are numerous sports grounds (this has already been mentioned), bars, a playground, several hammocks (mostly they take pictures, but do not lie down).

14. Sea

Oddly enough, the sea in December-January in this area is quite warm.
A complex of islands led by Giftun and coral reefs form a giant quasi-lagoon in the sea near the southern half of Hurghada, stretching from the Sheraton Hotel (the glorious hotel from which the construction of the resort began) and all the way to Sal Hasheesh.
Long Beach also falls into this zone with its own microclimate. The sea here is warm at any time of the year.
As I already wrote, you can swim in sea water at the hotel either in the lagoons, or from the shore, or from the pier.
There are two lagoons at Log Beach, one is relatively small (60-70 meters in diameter), the second is much larger. It is not known why, but in the lagoons the water is always colder than in the sea, and noticeably. The entrance to the water in the lagoons is sloping, sandy, sometimes there are pebbles, there are no corals, as well as underwater animals. Yes, a few small fish.
Entry from the shore towards the open sea is possible in many places. But in order to reach a depth of at least one and a half meters, you will have to leave and leave.
So the best option to swim in the sea is the pier.

The pier is located in the far corner of the beach, you will have to walk a little to it. Stationary building with large areas. The descent into the water is equipped with a convenient metal ladder with a railing.
You can, of course, jump into the water - the sandy bottom, the depth under the pier reaches 2-3 meters. But the pier is quite high, so it's better to jump like a soldier.

15. Reef

The hotel has its own reef, stretching like a crescent from the pier into the sea. At first, it looks frankly poor, but the farther from the pier, the more interesting. Almost all known fish are found. There are many crabs of all sizes. The "highlight" of the local reef is a turtle, it comes in the morning. They say that in the evening one day they caught the “sea devil” (manta) near the shore under the very pier, even when people were still in the water. I find it hard to believe, but the witnesses are trustworthy, so...he's not that poor, that reef...

16. Pools
The hotel has 8 swimming pools. All pools have plenty of sun loungers, there are even places where you can retire. Three main pools near the main building are interconnected by a kind of "rivers", in which you can also swim. There are five such rivers.
Now one of the pools is warm, one is cool, the third is the closest to the beach, has an average temperature.
Another large pool is located between the main and family buildings. While it does not work, although it is in excellent condition. There are just few guests, so it was fenced with sunbeds. Usually it is also heated in winter.
Behind the family building there is also a water park swimming pool. He is cold. In general, the water park is far from the beach. It has eight water slides. Trying it once is fine. However, near the water park is usually empty, and sometimes there is no one at all. But when at least one tourist appears, the water is turned on.
"Quiet" pool is located near the "Aqua Lounge".
I don’t know the price of training, but I constantly watched trainers with students. Probably reasonable prices.
At least the guys from the station say it's half the price of Makkadi Bay and Soma Bay stations.

The spot at the Long Beach Hotel is quite pleasant. The coral shelf (or reef cover, as some call it) under the shore reaches 100 meters in width. Depths - from half a meter to one and a half meters. The width of the spot is limited by the outer outlines of the boundaries of the Long Beach hotels and the neighboring Jasmine. And this is a decent half-kilometers. So, from several to ten kites are constantly fluttering on the spot and several sails are sliding back and forth.

18. Shopping

There are shops in the hotel itself, they are somewhat more expensive than "street" ones and offer a full range of tourist goods. The shopping arcade outside the hotel is currently closed. If you walk from the hotel towards Hurghada 15-20 minutes, you can reach many shops of any caliber.
A wonderful show that was presented to hotel guests on the first day of the year right on the beach! Special thanks to the dancers working in the hotel.
The director of the hotel, who does not refuse from time to time to go "to the people" to find out the opinion of guests about the rest. And it's also about the Long Beach Hotel.

And yes, once you're at the hotel, tell Cristina that her boccia partner is going to be back soon. It's not my policy to go twice to the same hotel. I have been to Egypt two dozen times, but each time in a new place. However, this time I am ready to make an exception. Perhaps in March, and perhaps already in February. Not that I'm in love though.. .
