Good afternoon to those who are going to relax on the Red Sea in Egypt. I want to share my impressions of the holiday. At the end of March (from 29 to 6 April) we went to rest in Egypt (Hurghada). Gathered by two families (4 people). We chose the hotel ourselves (according to our finances), let's say, a budget option. We opted for the Festival Shedwan hotel, as our friends went to this hotel, well, we read the information on the site. I will say right away that in Egypt it is neither the first, nor the second nor the third time, so there is something to compare with. Always go to 3 stars.
Now about the rest and the hotel. The hotel is specifically 3 stars, no more, no less, although according to reviews - they wrote almost 5 stars (complete troubles). Apparently those people who wrote, for the first time outside of Russia or Gelenzhik. Of course, you can't please everyone, so there are pros and cons. The hotel is old, has not been renovated for a long time, is located on the very outskirts of Old Hurghada, if anyone rested in the center of Old Hurghada (Sharaton Street), then you can’t walk the center on foot, you have to take a taxi. On the territory of the hotel there are bungalows from 1 to 3 and two buildings 4 and 5 (two floors). I recommend “give” when checking in (put $ 5-10 in your passport) and ask for a more interesting number, we always did this, they gave numbers 5212 and 5211 (building 5.2nd floor) - it is considered, sort of, the best, next to the sea etc. , although everything is not important. These buildings are purely for Russian tourists. And also two more buildings - 6 and 7, this is already for foreigners, called SMART. LAIN COLOR, of course, it’s better there (apartments + restaurant + free Wi-Fi, etc. ) Therefore, if you want to more or less relax and eat at -humanly, I recommend that when processing documents at your local travel agency, take neither STANDART-ROOM, but COMFORT-ROOM (more expensive by 5.000 rubles, approximately) and upon check-in at the hotel you will be assigned to the 6th or 7th building and put on pink bracelets.
There is another option: come to the hotel and ask for COMFORT-ROOM at the reception immediately upon check-in, and in fact pay $ 5 per person, i. e. $ 10 for a double room, but if there are free rooms in buildings 6 and 7, we were when the hotel was 1/3 full.
Of the 9 days of rest, 8, of course, ate at the restaurant (from SMART-LINE), but as Russian tourists arrived, on April 5.6, people were practically forced into the restaurant from Shedvan (catering canteen). Foreigners are poured everything into glass, Russians are poured into disposable (150 g) cups, even beer, not very pleasant, of course (for the first time this was felt in recent years of rest). Bars are one name, the necks of bottles stick out from under the bar, you can’t see what they are pouring, there is no imported alcohol for a fee. Of course, a person came to rest, gets used to everything. If you speak a little Russian, and still know how to smile, then this is a bonus for you. In general, which is not the first time and there is something to compare with, they also express a negative attitude.
The territory is large, the sea is clean (its own beach), but a bit small, it’s good with children, if you look deeper and look at the fish, then you need to walk 500 meters to the spit, it’s more fun there. All 9 days there was wind, for the first time at this time of the year, although they got tanned like blacks, the air temperature was 30 degrees, the water was 22-23 degrees (well, it’s peppy, who loves fresh milk, it probably won’t be very comfortable). Well, what else is so interesting to remember: they went from Anex, which can be said, apparently, after their revolutions, they generally have a ku-ku head. They don’t talk very politely (everyone is nervous), the whole dialogue boils down to only buying excursion tours from them, you start to refuse, freak out, animation, sorry for the expression, complete crap, something else for children, yes, but nonsense for adults . In a bar, we bought a bottle of rum for $ 5 (the bartender offered). Well, in general, summing up the whole story, we can say: probably, for this money, for a clean 9 days from Moscow for 2 adults (50200), it will still go, but most likely we will not go to this hotel again. Before that, we rested in the other three, it was more interesting. Anyway, they went to Egypt only because of the sea and that's it. If you still bet on this hotel, then take the SMART LINE COLOR apartments (either on the spot or immediately at the travel agency at home), as already stated above.
