Before the trip, my wife and I were purposefully looking for a hotel in Marsa Alam - a new resort and therefore with a still virgin sea and hotels standing alone on a deserted shore. FANTAZIA (full name Shores Fantazia Resort Marsa Alam 5 *) attracted our attention due to excellent reviews about the underwater world and good reviews about the hotel itself. The only negative was that there were no flights to Marsa Alam and it would take 4 hours to travel from Hurghada.

So, it's decided - we're going to Fantasia : )

We arrived an hour before the end of lunch and I prepared for negotiations with the administration about settling in a good room. However, I was pleasantly surprised - we were immediately settled in a good room - as we requested (overlooking the sea and the pool, closer to the sea on the second floor). The hotel is new (from summer 2008) and the room was in excellent condition. Particularly impressed by the air conditioner - almost silent and absolutely no smell. The room is large, with a good large bed (2*2 meters), a huge mirror and a comfortable sofa.
Despite the fact that we arrived at the restaurant for dinner 5 minutes before the end, they served us, asking several times if we had time to take everything and if they could bring us something else.
On the same day, we, after a little rest after the move, went to explore the local underwater beauties.
In the future, we have determined for ourselves such a regime: to swim from 6-7 to 9 in the morning and from 3-4 to 5:30 - 6 in the evening. The reef is really magnificent - it amazes with its size and diversity - there are areas of the so-called "wild", non-decorative nature, and there are wonderful places that resemble films about the underwater world.
Now about living things. We saw many turtles, stingrays (stingrays and some very large spotted ones resembling manta rays), octopus sitting in the reef, crocodile fish, moray eels and even reef sharks. Our friends saw a flock of dolphins. Not to mention the incredible variety of different colored fish darting over and around the reef.
For some reason, there were very few sea urchins, but at low tide, starfish basked on the reef.
Thanks to the "desert" location of the hotel, it was possible to inspect not only "your" reef, but also move 500 meters - a kilometer to the right or left and sail to the hotel.
Having seen enough of the "home" reef, we decided to go to the Abu Dabab reserve. We went with a guide from the diving center at the hotel. This is perhaps the most vivid memory - huge (1.5 meters) turtles live there in abundance. They graze (yes, they graze - like cows! ) - they nibble on algae at the bottom of the bay. Once in 10-15 minutes they emerge - to take a sip of air. Turtles are absolutely not afraid of people - you can swim up close and watch them. There we also saw guitar rays, sepia, leopard rays and barracuda. There is also a very beautiful reef.

Now about the hotel staff. Indeed the service is very good.

On the first evening when we arrived, my wife was not even comfortable - all the waiters paid attention to new guests, asked, were interested. By the end of our trip, we already had our "favorites" - the waiters, although all of them behaved very politely and courteously. At the hotel, everyone greets vacationers, even the boys watering the greens.
Food - 4 balls. For the most part, it is focused on Italians (there are different types of pasta), everything is either completely unsalted or seasoned to glory. What's nice: there was enough fruit.

For "ours" in the hotel there is practically no animation. But we didn't need it. We went for a swim, to see the beauty of the sea, to take a break from the city. Absolutely did not feel the lack of "civilization" around the hotel. Rest of pure water. People in the hotel are actively getting acquainted, sitting in the evenings, talking. We took interesting books with us.
We were greatly perplexed by the fact that there are no toilets and changing rooms on the beach, and you have to climb up the stairs to get a shower. But given the fact that the sun loungers were occupied by 30 percent and separated by screens from the wind, we still managed to change clothes after swimming : ))

We are very satisfied with our vacation and, if possible, would like to go to a similar place next year. We have the warmest feelings and vivid memories.

And have a nice holiday!
