Rested from 09 to 16 November 2015 . .
Last year, at the beginning of December, we rested in Makadi Bay - the Serenity Makadi Beach 5 * hotel, in general, we liked everything and were lucky with the weather, there was only one minus - when the wind and waves rise in the sea behind the reef, it is problematic to swim... and near the coast it is rather shallow . Now, when choosing, we looked through all the hotels with bays - there are less sea waves, we stopped at hotels in the Marsa Alam area, it’s far to go there from Hurghada and the choice fell on The Three Corners Pensee Beach Resort 4 *, firstly, we were only interested in the sea, and there is a beautiful house reef in a large lagoon, secondly, it is the first one where they are brought from Hurghada airport, and then the latter are taken to the airport, minus - the staff practically does not speak Russian, and we have minimal knowledge of English, and reviews are contradictory about the Egyptian fours... we decided and we liked it very much, now we probably fell in love with the Red Sea forever!
In order, we chose the tour so that there was an early arrival and a late departure, although we took a burning one. in Kyiv through the travel agency Join UP. The tour was organized very well: we arrived at seven in the morning, after check-in we were met at the airport by a guide from the host Aquarius Travel, we arrived in about two and a half hours by a comfortable bus, already around 10.30 we were at the hotel. We arrived early so we immediately gave a tip and asked for a room on the second or third floor. When buying a tour, they took a standard, a bungalow is an amateur. We did not like the first proposed room on the second floor, since the hotel is far from new, it had a low-quality cosmetic repair. Then they showed a triple room in the second tower of the right wing, almost opposite the amphitheater, with a huge balcony compared to the usual one - we liked it, we immediately moved two beds, the room has a very beautiful view of the entire hotel and the sea.

The room has a large closet, a safe for free, a refrigerator, an electric kettle, tea and coffee were brought regularly, two bottles of water upon arrival, an old-style hair dryer attached to the wall, a shower and a small bath, the TV is also old, with a CRT two channels in Russian. The rooms were cleaned every day, perhaps not very carefully, the linen was changed every other day. In all the rooms of the right wing there is a large gap at the bottom of the door, and therefore, when the wind from the desert dust enters the corridor. They left tips, they always took a dollar, but there were no chocolates. The staff is good, not intrusive, they do not speak Russian, they understand sign language well. (Not a pleasant impression was left by the porter at check-in - they gave a little dollar, they gave two - it’s worth looking, give more... but for what? they have one porter per shift). There is no free WiFi in the hotel, even at the reception, there is a paid one - quite expensive - 4 euros, it takes well.
The food, of course, is poorer than in the "five", all the food is fresh and tasty, we have no complaints. For breakfast, the choice of dishes is not very diverse, lunch is better, for dinner the chefs are already trying to arrange a larger selection of dishes, vegetables and fruits are more varied. In any case, you can choose food to your taste and hardly anyone will go hungry. Especially liked the grilled dishes, pizza and desserts. Breakfast and dinner in the main restaurant and lunch on the beach. Bar in the lobby, by the pool and on the beach, there were always drinks, bottled beer. The staff are all very friendly and sociable, and in restaurants and bars, everywhere.
The hotel is relatively small, the territory and the beach are practically the same with Utopia Beach Club 4 *, this is a rather large hotel that until recently was 5 *, everything seems to be common, except for food. It is surprising that both hotels do not have a territory fence, around the desert and anyone can freely enter the hotel, while the entrance through the frame and the guard at the main entrance looks funny, at first it bothered me, and then stopped paying attention. And also for the guests on the all-inclusive system, for some reason they don’t wear bracelets, but the answer to the question is “not problems”.
And of course, the main thing we came for is the sea....The weather was good, although there was a rather strong wind for almost six days, and only on the eighth day was it completely calm. The lagoon is a great advantage, you can swim there for hours, even in November and windy weather. The water is warm, in some places and sometimes even very warm... despite the wind, the water is clean and does not get cloudy. There is nothing to do here without a mask and flippers - you simply cannot see all the beauty, except for splashing near the shore, there are also quite a lot of fish, there are no corals.

The entry into the sea is sandy, but still it is better to have special shoes, we went from the beach of our hotel - from the lifebuoy along the sand. After swimming a little, you get, as it were, to the first floor of corals, after 50 meters the second begins (that is, this reef breaks off so unexpectedly and beautifully) - and an incredible amount of coral gardens and many fish open up, as well as coral labyrinths of different depths, indescribable beauty in words... There are not enough words here... whoever likes it will understand, you can look at it endlessly... I will not list all types of fish, I managed to see almost all that live in the Red Sea. On the outer reef, we managed to swim only on the last day, when there were no waves. At first it seems that this is a blue abyss, but still the water is so transparent that in some places you can even see the bottom. There is a realm of large and small fish and huge corals, only very, very deep. Divers were taken to the outer reef on days when the waves were not very strong, probably only experienced drivers can sink to the very bottom. We wanted to dive with scuba gear, but it didn’t work out - one diving club closed and there was no Russian-speaking diving coach in the second one, and they didn’t risk it with our knowledge of English.
There are certain rules on the beach and a guard who watches where someone swims: you can’t walk on corals, they immediately whistle, showing that you need to swim, calls strictly on the sand, swimming over the reefs, do not stop on the reefs. Near the beach "Utopia". there are buoys - a place where you can’t go from the coast and swim from the sea, there are small and some shaggy, rough corals grow, and you can’t swim on them.
The lagoon here is quite large, before lunch we went several times towards Novotel Marsa Alam 5 *, there is a deserted coast between the hotels, and in the sea there are several small house reefs up to 10 - 20 m in diameter, and the fish there are not afraid of swimmers, too diversity of the marine world, slopes below. You can swim enough to take pictures and enjoy the beauty of the sea and no one "breathes in the back. " True, you need to have time to swim back to the shore before low tide, otherwise it becomes rather shallow in places, it is inconvenient to swim and the corals are almost from above, it is impossible to go there and there are a lot of sea urchins, and the depth is different. There are a lot of impressions, we photographed and filmed really with an ordinary camera, to convey the beauty you need a camera for underwater shooting!
You can still take a walk along the coast or through the desert to the side where the Cinderella Beach and lti Akassia Beach hotels are far away, in that direction behind the cape there is another large shallow lagoon, you can’t swim there very shallowly, and its coast is practically covered with a variety of shells of various shapes and sizes, you come across very beautiful and complete. They thought to take it as a souvenir, only the guide said that at the airport they could regard the shell as dead coral and then a fine of 600 USD, although they could sell them and generate income, otherwise they simply turn into coastal shell rock.

There were few vacationers, the high season ended, mostly elderly Czechs, Slovaks, Germans, Italians, Russians were few, and there were six of us Ukrainians in general. The sea, the beach - no complaints, everything is just super. Despite the wind, the sea is always warm and clean. The beach is clean, quite large, umbrellas stand in 3 rows, on the basis of the umbrella there is a table. Each umbrella has a fence from the wind, umbrellas and huts made of palm branches stand far from each other, towels and mattresses are issued from two booths along the edges of the beach (which side is closer), mattresses were brought immediately, things could be left without fear on the beach at least for the whole day, found where they left, nothing was lost. The shower is like one, from the side of the restaurant, but on the other hand there is a shower on the beach of the Utopia hotel.
The territory is green and well-groomed. There are three outdoor pools and one heated indoor pool in the spa center, several playgrounds, a kids club, an amphitheater (but in winter performances are held in the main building). Nearby is the Utopia Beach Club 4 * hotel, you can use all the infrastructure, except for bars and restaurants, they have stronger animation. A very beautiful garden, constantly looked after by gardeners, an oasis in the desert. There were practically no mosquitoes at such a time, but still every evening they pollinated the territory with some kind of smoke. There are many cats, almost all vacationers feed and pamper them, we are no exception, we liked the good attitude towards animals, and for those who are annoyed, it is better not to choose this hotel. The hotel is for a quiet holiday, there is no special entertainment, the animators try to entertain a small audience every evening. Souvenir shops outside the territory, there are few of them and everything is very expensive compared to Makadi Bay and Hurghada.
On the eve of departure, we got a call from the guide who told us the time of departure from the hotel. In the morning, we still managed to swim for three hours, have a bite to eat in the restaurant before the road and leave the room before 12.00, then walked a little more around the territory, exactly at 13.20 the bus arrived, the way back to the airport was also comfortable. At the airport, of course, in the light of the November events, security measures were exceeded, the flight was delayed, but in general, everything is fine.
Separately, many thanks to the guide Mahmud (he was in touch all the time) from Aquarius for attention and care for tourists - I forgot my new autumn jacket on the bus on the way to the hotel, and came to my senses a week later - already before the return trip. I thought I couldn’t find everything anymore - they called the guide, he took the jacket from the driver of the first bus and handed it to me before the flight in Hurghada. It is very pleasant that such attentive employees work in Aquarius, there are no unnecessary stops along the way, they give all the information that interests tourists.

We managed to spend all eight days practically at sea - we had a wonderful and calm rest from everyday bustle, our hopes were fully justified, and everything else is not worth much attention, what is the price and service, otherwise you need to take a more expensive hotel... , The hotel is a real "four", not I know how they used to be before joining The Three Corners chain - now, in general, the ratio of price and service is normal . .
A wonderful hotel for a relaxing holiday, for lovers of snorkeling, diving and the Red Sea in all its glory!
