We rested in the Lotus for a week at the beginning of September 2010 together with my husband. We read all the reviews about this hotel beforehand and, despite their "positiveness", decided to go! And did not regret for a minute!
Some of what was described is indeed true, but we did not see much of the bad or simply did not want to notice. The mood was great!
This hotel will really appeal to those who rested in not very luxurious hotels or are traveling for the first time.
I will describe objectively all the pros and cons.

The territory is huge. During our entire vacation, we did not bypass it all. In recent days, they found places that they did not even suspect. There are a lot of paths - the first day we got lost, we could not find a restaurant in the dark. I learned to find my number on the third day))) I need to initially find some kind of landmark for myself and already look for it. Although in principle there are pointers! There is a lot of greenery - different, beautiful.

Several types of palm trees, cacti, flowers, something similar to acacia, ficuses ...Big, small, fluffy - whatever you want! The eye is very happy. The lawns are well-groomed, the grass is constantly cut, the bushes - it is clear that they are cleaning.
Every day around 17.50 the fight against insects starts! This is a must see! A man with some apparatus walks around the territory and treats plants with dichlorvos. They fight with flies and with all evil spirits. In the place where he walks, everything is in a fog))) People scatter. I won't say it's bad. On the contrary, I consider it a plus. It stinks a little, I agree, but there are fewer flies. As for the insects, since we are talking about, we had a bit of a fly on the last day - well, they are very nasty. Small, but dangerous to horror. Ants saw two or three in all the time. Mosquitoes - none. Probably depends on the season. Another of the living creatures - lizards several times. There were no mice or rats that I had read about.

The beach and sea are great.
The beach is clean. Sand. The distance from one “point” of vacationers to another is large, so people cannot be heard or seen. There is a little more traffic near the pool, and peace and quiet on the beach. There are palm trees near each "point", which really enlivens the beach. In the nearby "Menovil" (we went there to visit my sister) the beach is somehow "artificial": there is no greenery, plastic umbrellas. In "Lotos" wicker umbrellas, palm trees - beauty! Sea entry is very good. A huge plus of Safaga is that the sea combines both a good entry into the sea and an excellent underwater world. That is, you can enter without slippers, barefoot, but where the reefs begin (this is immediately visible), you can’t get up with your feet, because 99% that you step on a sea urchin. Thorns - wow! The husband came on the very first day - there were seven black dots on the foot of pieces. We were very scared, we thought the thorns remained, but, apparently, just a trace, because there were no consequences.

Anyway - carefully, because the feeling is not pleasant. And here is a very pleasant feeling - to see how these spines stick out of the most beautiful corals! And near them swim multi-colored different-sized odd-eyed fish! ! Like in an aquarium! ! ! You need a mask and snorkel. If there is, take it with you, and if not, you should not buy it. The shops near the hotel have very good prices (it is necessary to bargain - 1.5-2 times lower the price). We thought that a mask bought in our country (Ukraine) costs almost twice as much as a mask and snorkel set bought there.
The sea water is very clean and warm. I have never swum so much in my life. I don't want to get out of the water.
The water is salty, it gets into the eyes - not very pleasant. Swim either in a mask, or in sun glasses, or endure))) Children prefer to swim in the pool, as I noticed.
There are many yachts around, but they did not bother me. Maybe some people don't like them.
Sun loungers borrow at five in the morning, as I read, there is no need at all. Of course, if you fundamentally want just “this deck chair”, then you need to get up early and take it, and if there is not much difference, then you can not rush.
We came to the beach by ten in the morning, basically, and could perfectly choose a place. Basically looking for closer to the bar!
Mattresses on sun loungers were worn by ourselves - my husband took it. Sometimes an Arab boy would bring. If you are completely lazy and do not want to carry two meters, you can give a pound - they will be happy to help. It didn't bother us.

The pool is large, there are never many people swimming. The water was a little colder than in the sea, but this feeling of "cold" disappears instantly - as soon as you plunge. They clean the pool often - I watched it many times.
Closer to the territory of Menavil, they found another pool with a bar, but for some reason no one swam there. I don't know...He's a lot smaller, but he's also cute. Near the sea practically.
The children's pool is small, but enough for the kids. Many children have never been there. Children mostly in the adult pool splashed with their parents. The adult pool, by the way, is shallow. Up to my neck as much as possible. But enough for diving!
There are two slides in the children's pool, next to it there is a ship with a Jolly Roger flag.
Between the pools, a pretty stone shower is more of a dé cor than a shower. Some used, I saw.

We used summer showers on the beach - immediately after swimming in the sea, we washed ourselves, because the body stings a little. Especially on the third or fourth day. Without washing, discomfort is felt.
More about the pool… There are sun loungers around the pool. There may be difficulties with "finding a place" (although we never had). It's just that people, as a rule, take a place either on the beach or near the pool.
And there, and there "book" - no one does this, if only because beach towels are given one per brother.
We sometimes lay near the pool on sun loungers, and sometimes we left things near the sea (not far from the pool), swam in the pool and came back. Differently.

Restaurants, bars and more…. The main problem was - could not get hungry! It's a shame when there is such a huge selection, but you don't really want to eat. We ate on the all inclusive system. Now I know not to pay special attention to whether there are snacks in between meals! Believe me, these snacks only interrupt your appetite. I took them twice (not from hunger, but just like that), and then I didn’t want to go to dinner.
The main restaurant - two rooms: for smokers and non-smokers. The second hall is only allowed for dinner and partly for lunch.
The restaurant is large, you can always find places.
Breakfast is always the same, but the choice is good: scrambled eggs are fried in front of you, or scrambled eggs with whatever additions you want; pancakes are baked in front of you; next to it is a "barrel" with insanely delicious melted milk chocolate - I poured it over everything, almost myself  Several types of buns, toasts, which you toast next to. Several types of jam. Cereal with milk (you can’t call it milk - I tried it once, I didn’t take it again). Chopped vegetables, fried sausages - very tasty. Tea and coffee are poured. Tea is insanely delicious, coffee is also nothing. You pour juice yourself - two types. Delicious, but it feels like chemistry)))

Lunch - there is always liquid. One or two kinds of soups. Not bad. Potatoes, pasta, rice - seasoned with something or unseasoned, so that he himself can season. Salads. Meats are not a great choice. There is always fish. The liver happens.
Dinner is a feast for the stomach. Huge selection of sweets. It’s a pity that when it comes to sweets, you don’t really want it anymore.
It was soufflé day - a bunch of soufflé s (chocolate, banana, white... very nicely decorated). It was the day of national sweets - a bunch of types of baklava. There is already more choice of meat - the chef is definitely preparing something: either frying steaks in front of us, or liver, or beef in something ...Very tasty! Had lasagna a few times. Quail in foil. Buns for dinner a huge selection of different sizes and colors. Cheese pies are awesome. Of the side dishes - pilaf, potatoes (mashed, baked, in sauce), pasta, millet porridge was with something ...In short, dinner - beauty! Fruits have always been melons, watermelons and dates. Once grapes were caught.
In the neighboring "Menovil" a completely different set of fruits: grapefruits, pears and oranges.

All Inclusive - this means in this hotel that you can go for breakfast, lunch and dinner, there is everything you want and as much as you like.
From drinking - cola, fanta, sprite (in glasses), Stella beer (tasty, but not very strong), juice (not very good), plain water (bottled), tea, coffee, rum-cola, whiskey-cola, gin and tonic. It seems to be everything. All this in any quantity. You can use the main restaurant, beach bar (open from 11.00), pool bar. At the pool bar from 16.00 to 18.00 - snacks. Buns, sausage, cheese, sweets, tea, coffee…

For children, the playground is good. I did not notice children's animation. We went without a child, but I still paid attention to it. Menovil has a great kids club, but there isn't one here. The children's pool is good. The food is not exactly childish. At least, for example, for my three-year-old baby, there would be little to pick up. Soups are mostly spicy, everything else is spicy. You can, of course, find it - you take empty rice, pasta ...Buns, butter. But in principle, the choice is not very good for children.

Rooms - there are several different types. She saw it with her own eyes.
We had an average between "the most unpretentious" and "cool". At the reception I invested $15 in my passport and started to hint to him that, they say, there is money there - give me a better room. Not on the ground floor. He began to ask something about the honeymoon - they say, are you on a honeymoon? I say yes (even though it's been a six year honeymoon). In general, the room was ok. Our friends, who did not give anything, also had a good one, but much less. And the other guys, who initially indicated in the questionnaire in their own country that they had a honeymoon trip, had a Family room - very large and beautiful. The furniture is very beautiful, the shower is good.
As for the shower - here it is, or rather its absence, I would attribute to the minuses. There is no soul as such. There is a tray and a curtain. Our man, as they say, gets used to everything))) In general, the bathroom is very nice.
Rooms are cleaned well. Towels are changed all the time if you throw them on the floor.
Soaps, shampoos, shower gels - all this goes without saying.
Our air conditioner leaked during our stay. I reported it and it was repaired the next day. Problems are fixed normally.
There are balconies, but we did not actually use them. There were hardly any in the room at all. Left several times the cleaner for 5 pounds and packs of cigarettes. Cigarettes are taken with pleasure)))

Maybe I forgot to write something - I tried to describe the hotel in as much detail as possible for those who nevertheless chose it. You'll like it!
You can arrive happy from a simple three-star hotel, or you can remain dissatisfied with a chic five-star hotel! The main thing is a good mood)))
