According to the Egyptians themselves, the best time to relax in Egypt, on the Red Sea coast, is October. The air temperature in this month reaches +30+35, and sea water - +26+28 degrees. In summer, everything is much warmer, and in winter strong winds blow and sandstorms rage. We happened to spend a week in the second half of October in a quiet place in Safaga, which is 45 km south of Hurghada, at the Menaville Hotel. The choice was made based on reviews posted on the Internet. Expectations were almost completely justified, the overall impression of the days spent is almost perfect : )
What we liked:
1) The rooms in the hotel are the most diverse, but there are also very decent ones, we got just this one. However, Superior was originally ordered, but at the reception at the time of check-in we gave another $ 20 for the order, and got a wonderful room on the second floor in the farthest and quietest corner, 3 meters from the public beach and 50 from the Muslim one: ). True, the latter was surrounded by a fence and equipped with a security guard, and it was not possible to see how faithful Muslim women sunbathe... By the way, no insects - cockroaches, bedbugs, ants, lizards - were noticed in the room.

2) The territory of the hotel is very well-groomed, with neat vegetation, on each palm tree there is a sign with her name : ). Some lawns are watered with scented bug chemicals, so you had to "enjoy" the scent on the way to the restaurant and back.
3) Gentle, warm, clean sea with clean sandy beaches and a good entrance to the sea, with coral islands. Corals are based near the coast and are quite inhabited: colorful fish, sea urchins. One day in the morning there was even a heart-rending cry from one of our compatriots: "Octo-o-o-o-g! " : ) The beach area is divided into a sunbathing and swimming area and a windsurfing area. For a couple of days during our stay at the hotel, a steady north wind blew, the temperature dropped as much as +25 (! ), but the windsurfers were delighted! On the beach itself, dozens of umbrellas with a fence on both sides were installed, which created a somewhat intimate atmosphere for vacationers. Sunbeds, mattresses for them and beach towels - free of charge. For everyone, Egyptian boys, to quite modern music, held water aerobics sessions right in the sea.
4) The hotel staff is quite friendly, with almost universal knowledge of several Russian words : ). However, even if some workers could not speak Russian, this was not an obstacle in order to understand who exactly wanted to say what. Gestures, distorted English and a calculator (in the process of trading) can be completely dispensed with. There was no discrimination based on nationality or gender. Of course, the staff communicated with compatriots (by the way, very few) longer than with foreigners. For a completely understandable reason - a good knowledge of the Arabic language by the Egyptians : )
5) Very varied food, breakfasts and lunches - in a restaurant, dinner - in the open air. Everything was in abundance - salads, meat, fish, side dishes, dessert. Unlimited number of drinks of any composition, color and strength : ). But sausage lovers will feel uncomfortable!

6) Good accompaniment. The local guide "Tez Tour" appeared at the hotel twice a day, in the morning and in the evening, and provided the necessary assistance in solving all organizational issues (excursions, transfers, etc. ). By the way, the guides of "Tez Tour" generally deserve kind words. For understandable Russian, for benevolence and constant humor.
What I didn't like very much:
1) Poor soundproofing in the rooms. Pairs of rooms are separated by locked doors, the audibility is very decent. Our neighbors were Russians with a small child, who used to wake up and squeak at 4-5 in the morning, when the mullah began to call the faithful to prayer : )
2) The French were very noisy, who came in large companies and actively, sometimes too actively, rested. Both at sea and on land : )
3) The importunity of local residents, constant offers to buy something in crowded places at sightseeing sites and not only are well known. Excessive commercial obtrusiveness was also present on the Tez Tour excursions.
